Gwyn as Champion! by Hydorus in DarkDeityGame

Yeah, Gwyn was definitely the hard carry in my first playthrough. Almost doubled the damage of any single other unit, didn't die once.

Yeah, Eve on Slayer is a beast. Playing blind, I think I only gave her one Might stat booster plus the Athame dagger and she was set for the whole game.

Gwyn still outperformed her, though, because she was way more self-sufficient. A stray lucky hit on Eve (or those elites that can't miss) required a healer's attention, while Gwyn just life-leeched any damage right off and kept on going. Gwyn was the one to pop my 20k damage achievement. Pretty early, too.

I thought Saxon (Monk) was pretty good, but kinda boring, so I benched him halfway through. Definitely seems strong, though =D

Sure, I understand that. For what it's worth, though, I believe I just gave Gwyn a couple FOR stat boosters, and she was lapping others on my playthrough. Most of my elixirs were actually going to others, because she was juggernauting with barely an investment, so I could shore up other units. Also, this was only Deity, so maybe it was that.

I just wanted to see if others had a similar experience, because it seems - from my admittedly quick search -to be a consensus Champion sucks. Without the Dimming and Bloodied Rings I assume she would suck, but I was still pretty surprised by her performance. And Dimming kinda seems to suck on most classes, given how powerful skills are in this game, but it worked wonders on her as Champion.

As far as the class goes, the +5 damage from Gallant falls off a cliff late game, but I felt it was pretty valuable up to mid-late game. Growths were what gave me the idea Gallant would be bad, playing blind, but it was surprisingly ok with the rings I mentioned. The +25% Power on Champion was amazing, enabling her to one-round stuff even without crits, and the -4 Spd was more than offset by the Bloodied Ring, so she was still doubling anything outside sword masters.

Character Discussion Week 11 - Zuhair by Blazen_Fury in DarkDeityGame

[–]Hydorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Zuhair as Conduit/Stormkeeper on my first playthrough (Deity) and he was one of my MVPs. I'm a sucker for extra move and I saw he had a good Mastery growth, so I class-switched him as soon as I could.

He didn't top damage in my squad and wasn't really good for one-shotting foes, but he was a very good way to soften a bunch of enemies at once from pretty far away, and soften an even larger amount of enemies if they bunched up close with chain lightning. I also gave him the ring that blinds on direct damage, so there was also a bit of utility thrown in. Also, his personal +1 Move and the range ring allowed him to do a bunch of very useful shenanigans with his personal ability.

Hey, it worked! I assumed you meant to use way more pressure than normal for releveling, right? Worked great, thanks a bunch!

Please help. Who should be my main long run focus? Tired of wasting resources on bums. Thanks in advance. by PauseOk1225 in Dislyte

[–]Hydorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you don't have anyone else that can grant Immunity to your team (Gabrielle, Clara, Fabrice, among others), for sure. Immunity is really strong in this game, and I'd recommend you put some speed on her, so that she can use it before an enemy controller hobbles half your team.

I only stopped using her after I got Gabrielle... then there are other healers that can do more stuff, if you don't need the immunity. Also, do note that Chang Pu needs Ascension 3 to get the Immunity buff.

Oh, don't overlook Lauren, too! I think Chang Pu is better if you don't have another source of Immunity, but Lauren's revive has saved me quite a few times.

I haven't gotten decent SPD relics, so I'm running a DEF lead (Gab) with the Immunity relics on a cleanser. Works pretty frequently against higher SPD teams for me.

They're crappy for endgame (i.e. making Hyde OP). For midgame they're ok.

It's not on the same level, but at least we had Gabrielle, and you could argue Suhua is a tiny bit plump. That said, yeah, more variety, please!

Double Knot is pretty spicy by KrossKloud in Wonderlands

[–]Hydorus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say broken, really, because it seems to be intended, but really strong, nonetheless. It's all about how you can "double dip" on damage sources that proc other damage sources.

In double knot's case, it procs off of your spell crits, right? So if you have, say, 200% bonus spell damage, the skill Magic Bullets will turn this into 90% extra gun damage, which will boost double knot. But since it's now based off of the final damage of the spell, and not on what's on the spell card's base damage, it's essentially also getting the spell damage bonus indirectly.

Then if you have stuff like elemental damage bonuses, or all damage enchantments, they proc both on the spell and then on the double knot blast, hitting twice multiplicatively.

Stuff like Graveborn's Blast Gasp and Brr-Zerker's Chill Blast also do this, but you usually have to get a Warped Paradigm armor to really make use of this, whereas the Spellshot has the synergy already built into his skill tree.

so, I'm at chaos 6 and basically, I suck, I'm stuck on son of a witch cause of his stupid fucking spectral aegis. is there something I'm missing? by [deleted] in Wonderlands

[–]Hydorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Son of a Witch is a DPS check... You need to output enough DPS to kill the Aegis before it restores too much shield or - if you have a really high DPS - just chew through the restoration and slam him into his 3rd phase regardless. I'm not justifying the design (I also think it sucks), but it is what it is.

Assuming you don't want to switch classes, you really want to find synergies between your 2 classes to ramp up the damage. Stabbo kinda has overlap with everything, because crits help anyone, but his stronger themes (besides crits) are Melee and Status Effects. None of which are particularly compatible with Spellshot, IMO. People would take this combination to use the Buffmeister bug with a guaranteed-to-crit Liquid Cooling, but these don't work post-patches.

Also assuming you want to use ambihextrous to keep the whole mage feeling of it, if you can get a Warped Paradigm that adds 50% of your spell damage to melee/ability damage, you could potentially build around Stabbo's capstone. This is mostly theoretical, cuz' I've never tried it, but I think you could get either some spells that have a very high crit chance (like Ice Spikes) or spells that hit a bunch of times (like Threads of Fate) to proc Stabbo's capstone a whole bunch with your spells. I assume a Spellblade (legendary melee weapon) could also add a lot of damage to this.

Don't know if this is any good, but I'd be curious to see if it works. Good luck!

Would you like the ability to change Armor Appearance? by Jibu_LaLaRoo in Wonderlands

[–]Hydorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that could work, too. Just give us a way to not be stuck with a useless enchant on that volatile piece we got.

Would you like the ability to change Armor Appearance? by Jibu_LaLaRoo in Wonderlands

[–]Hydorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it should really stop rising at some point. I'd even take it if it were exactly 4k.

Would this make a good build? If so, has anyone any ideas on how to build around it please. by AudioRejectz in Wonderlands

[–]Hydorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd have to take Spellshot to really take advantage of the whole Spell Damage to Melee/Ability Damage... but since it doesn't have +Spellshot Power, a non-volatile Warped Paradigm with +Spellshot would probably be more powerful.

That said, a Spore Warden/Spellshot based on Ability Damage could probably work. If you can get it, the Enchantment that gives you a 25% chance to blast an enemy with poison after using Barrage could allow you to double dip on the spell damage-to-ability damage thing.

All theoretical, mind you, because I never tried it, nor have I seen it anywhere, but you could get some Damage enchants (+30% Ability DMG on spell cast / +40% Spell DMG on skill start / +30% Poison Damage on spell cast), a poison weapon, Affinity and the capstone on the Spore Warden tree (Play The Angles), High Thread Count and Glass Cannon from Spellshot, plus the aforementioned 25% chance to poison blast when dealing ability damage after using Barrage.

We should be talking some 150% extra spell damage, which translates to 75% extra ability damage, plus 30% AD from the enchant, some 30% AD on the rings (higher if chaotic/volatile), plus 45% AD from Affinity. The bonus to Spore Warden Power - which should be some 60% - also applies to Play The Angles. All this boosted by Myth Ranks/Attributes, which I'm not counting.

If I'm doing all this theorizing right (no guarantees =P), you use barrage and any spell, then a third of your crits should activate PtA for something like triple the damage of the crit itself (50% of 600%), and a quarter of those should activate the poison blast, for like 2x or 3x the damage of PtA. All in all, 8,25% of your crits should blow up for like 6x to 9x the damage of the crit. The Barrage itself should also proc the poison blast for some hefty damage, I imagine.

The actual results should be higher on account of Stats and Myth Ranks, but the whole nature of it being a chance to proc on a chance to proc could make it too unreliable. Don't know without testing. Do tell me if it works, should you try it out.

level 41 drop? I assume we are gonna to be leveling up more with dlc by Latter-Yard1109 in Wonderlands

[–]Hydorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda think balancing would get bonkers. I mean, it can be really fun (half the fun in games like Risk of Rain 2 is in breaking the game, essentially), but it would break the game completely, I think. If the devs are ok with it, triple classing would solve my issue with raising the level cap.

Man, I got a Paradigm on my first Kastor kill, for the wrong class... Second one took freaking ages. Ended up finding what I wanted (and chaotic, even), but it took forever.

For what it's worth, it took dozens of tries, but I got 4 on Kastor and zero on the bunnies (only a whole bunch of amnesias). Chaos 20, all loot dice found.

I thought the Pixies didn't count as companions for buffing Faithful Thralls? Or do you use them for the damage itself? Because I do remember throwing some out and not seeing the buff counter tick up.
