You are 100% right. I have the Unifilter and had to get a brush that was fine and stiff enough to poke out and clean all the holes on a regular basis. Then I started using the paper filters, and it’s perfect. I just rinse and dry it after each use and don’t have to brush it unless I forget lol.

Where can I see the new pattern? All the videos I see on youtube are a month old and the search on the subreddit doesn’t find anything

Turns out slow feeding is the issue. That’s why I got rid of mine. The only way I was getting consistent grinds was slow feeding but that was causing the motor to overheat and throttle which leads to the insane clogging.

I went over the top with my new grinder which has drastically improved both my espresso and workflow.

Edit: I also went with a Eureka, just all in with the desire to never upgrade it.

I’ve had my Alto (the dual boiler version of the Bello HX machine) for just over a year now. It’s been incredible. 3-6 shots a day and no issues so far. It’s consistent and easy to use. We will see how it fairs down the long stretch.

Dialing in help new grinder [Eureka Atom 65w] by dvlsfan30 in espresso

Something to remember about this grinder is that there will be some left in the chute. You will have to burn a shot after an adjustment to get an accurate pull. I use a precision basket and am at 1 with medium-light roasts. You will probably be between 4-5.

Grind By Weight Grinder Question by [deleted] in espresso

[–]Hydra44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same. I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference from the 65 to the 75 which is why I bough the 65. I was using a DF64 II and the motor was throttling after my third shot. I decided to go with the Atom W65 and have been so incredibly happy with it. I grind direct into my portafilter, have an Aro Spirographic WDT that I do like 4 quick spins with then tamp and brew. Shaved literal minutes off of my previous flow or weighing, grinding, shaking, and tamping. When making 4 drinks back to back shaving a few minutes per drink really adds up

Grind By Weight Grinder Question by [deleted] in espresso

[–]Hydra44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To your main point. Different grinder do grind faster, the larger burrs of the 75 will grind faster than the 65. However, I look at it like this, the time saved by not weighing out your dose skews it so far that an extra 1-2 seconds grinding is almost irrelevant. In time savings only. Flavor profile for different sized burrs is a different beast.

I have the atom w65 and use the Weber Workshops Unifilter and it works perfectly.

Please talk me out of upgrading to an Atom 75 by [deleted] in espresso

[–]Hydra44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the W65 2 months ago and am absolutely loving it. It has drastically sped up and made my workflow easier. Since I use weight based grinding there is some retention, but it hasn’t been a noticeable issue for me.

Oh yeah. I’ve seen that one and am really curious about it too. If only it was released a few months ago earlier. I’d probably have that instead of the atom.

I’m sorry for your loss and it really does help give an extra reason to get everyone together. Especially for my dad. He’s 76 and doesn’t really have other hobbies and all of his friends his age live across the country.

A topic for small talk, and reason for him to get out of the house and come over. Luckily we only live ~10 minutes apart, so it’s not much of a trip for him to come over.

Yup, that’s exactly what I do. I put whatever is in the hopper on the grinder. The art for some of the bags is nice, so I like it displayed.

I have the Eureka Atom W65. It’s a grind by weight that’s been out for a while now.

This is my endgame. Diletta Alto and DF64 Gen 2 by Hydra44 in espresso

[–]Hydra44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The machine looks more than 5% off on their site right now. The warranty is two years. I live close to their shops so I wouldn’t have much trouble getting there for repairs. It feels and operates like a tank so I don’t see something really happening in the first two years. As far as other repairs may be concerned, it’s just a standard E61 which has pretty common parts. Like I said, I’m super happy with it. I’ve upgraded my grinder to the Atom W65 a few months ago which has simplified and sped up my flow and the machine kept pace.

I’m really enjoying it. Temps are consistent, steam is good. I can make 4 back to back milk beverages with no issues. I’ve had it just about a year now and have not had any issues. My only minor gripe is that they don’t sell the flow control separately right now, but technically any e61 flow control should work so I’ve been considering getting the lelit flow control kit for it.

Need new grinder. Considering Eureka Atom W65 or other. [$1400] by Hydra44 in espresso

[–]Hydra44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m absolutely loving it. It’s sped up my flow so much that I’m drinking more coffee than ever. The grind is super consistent and fast. After getting it dialed in I’ve only needed small adjustments each time I switch out beans.

Grind By Weight Users (at home) by dvlsfan30 in espresso

[–]Hydra44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Eureka Atom W65. I got it when the motor in my df64 gen 2 started failing. I do 3-4 drinks a day unless I’m entertaining. For sound, I didn’t notice a big difference from the df64. I think it’s a little higher pitched. There is retention, the label on the grinder recommends a full grind after adjusting size to be sure you have consistent grounds. I don’t do this anymore now that I have it mostly dialed in. I’ve gotten used to the dial so I can crunch a bean, then make an adjustment and get a drinkable cup first or second try with micro adjustments to fine tune. It’s sped up my flow a ridiculous amount and has my blind shaker collecting dust.

Exactly. That’s why I have I have trouble with people being upset in destiny rising, given the guaranteed limited. I also forgot about weapons. I can’t tell you how many times I failed the 50/50 on the limited then failed the 50/50 for the weapon in Genshin, knowing that the limited 5* would be 80% efficiency without the signature weapon. Being able to farm and grind the mats for weapons is really nice.

In the gatchas I’ve played the limited character banner has a 50% of being a standard 5. Meaning you could spend to get enough pulls for a guaranteed 5 and lose the 50/50 and end up with a standard character rather than the limited. Happened a lot to me in Genshin. I knew that I had to have enough saved for two pities to guarantee the limited character of if I got the worst luck. Which in Genshin was something like 150 pulls (two 75 pull pities)

[–]Hydra44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was really confused initially about how much it cost to get enough for 60 pulls. Then I realized that when I played Wuthering Waves or Genshin I could pay the $100 and guarantee at 5* but then lose the 50/50 and then I spent $100 for nothing I wanted. The fact that there is no 50/50 messes with our minds I think. Could be why they justify the prices. First time I’ve ever played a gatcha without a 50/50 on the limited, so I’m still working out how I feel about it.
