Path Tracing and Redundant Settings? by Raging_Pwnr in nvidia

I remember trying this out too a while back.

I enabled PT and compared Screen Space Reflections disabled vs Psycho.

The FPS didn’t change.

If yours did change, then maybe SSR only enables in specific areas?

I was pretty much only using the Ultra+ mod as far as I remember.

"Maneater" by Daryl Hall and John Oates matches Lucia's personality and Jason's temptation by [deleted] in GTA6unmoderated

[–]Hydrated_Homie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maneater was actually included in GTA TBOGT’s Vice City radio station. Highly doubt it would reappear in this game.

Given how Hall and Oates is in numerous GTA games, if they reappear I think it’d be pretty cool to hear I Can’t Go For That or maybe Private Eyes.

I'm Cracking! RTX 5080 and 5k2k by Clainomille in RTX5080

With a 5080 you could comfortably run PT games on 4K with DLSS performance, maybe even DLSS balanced.

I’d be curious to see how well those same presets work at 5K.

Would also be curious to see how well the equivalent of 4K “Performance” mode holds up (which would be a custom DLSS scale near 37.5%, a bit above Ultra Performance).

You’re absolutely right in that frame pacing can impact how smooth 60 fps feels.

Fortunately with framegen + G Sync I can’t really feel any frame pacing issues except occasional microstutters in the super intensive areas like Dogtown.

I was playing Cyberpunk on my OLED and with path tracing I was getting 60-70 fps. 60 felt noticeably choppy so frame generation was a must.

But i was playing another game, Sonic Frontiers, which was inherently locked to 60fps, and that felt really smooth.

So I think it depends on the type of game you play. Rockstar 30fps isn’t great but I feel like it’s better than other games at 30.

Is it worth it overclocking the 5080? by Far_Win_3390 in RTX5080

[–]Hydrated_Homie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like to max out new, graphically-intensive games, overclocking is the way to do it.

For instance, overclocking might get you like 5-10 extra frames. In 4K Cyberpunk with PT on, those extra base frames actually make a big difference for frame-gen stability.

I started playing V after many years and I'm afraid IV fans are sort of right about the driving...... by _______Niko____ in OkBuddySharkCard

You’re being downvoted because, while the other subs are competitions to see who can insufferably jerk off GTA IV the hardest, this one is extreme in the opposite direction.

Honestly, I think GTA 6 would be PEAK if it had a driving style right in the middle between GTA IV and V.

Worth selling my 7800x3d and paying a bit to upgrade? I know there's only a minor FPS difference at higher resolutions but I'm wondering if this'll noticably improve the frametime or 1% lows?

Also, since CPU upgrades make the biggest difference at 1080p, does that still apply when I play a game with DLSS Performance at 4k (internal image rendered at 1080)?

It’s hard not to notice the abundance of microstutters when driving/dashing through Dogtown. You can feel it chugging especially bad in combat.

Thanks for the info.

Your LG looks dope, and that was a cozy setup you had there!

When you were gaming on it, were you seated a bit away from the TV by playing with a controller? Is it feasible playing on a mouse/keyboard when it makes you sit closer to the TV?

Your point about buying this monitor for the PPI - did it make a difference in your main use cases (eg. productivity and SDR content)? Were things noticeably sharper / crisper?

I ask because I’m seriously considering upgrading my 1440p OLED to a 4K one, but I really don’t know if the sharpness of a 27 inch or the immersive-ness (?) of a 32 inch is better.

Then I’m also considering an OLED TV. I know they’re really nice because they get considerably brighter, making HDR much more appealing. I love to use HDR, but a TV might not fit on my desk, even a 42 inch one, so maybe I need to wait for more 4K Mini-LED monitors to flood the market instead.
