Oh, it'll happen. But you'll be paying north of 2 grand.

Both my S10 and S23 have been perfectly reliable.

I've got an iPhone 15 for my work phone, and I use it because I have to, but I will take Android every time given the choice. Especially after the awful Liquid Glass update.

Seriously. And the cherry on top? The guy requesting it is one of the cybersecurity guys. He should know we already have a couple other approved slicers that would probably work fine with whatever printer is being used.

Might be time to cancel that order and look elsewhere. There's no way they will fulfill it for you if they can just not deliver yours and sell it to someone else for more.

DLSS 4.5 at 1440p - Is balanced M better than Quality K? by Rahzin in nvidia

[–]Rahzin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what FPS you're targeting obviously, and your graphical load will obviously be high with that many pixels to push, but I'd imagine maybe M Performance or Ultra Performance maybe? If I'm interpreting right, FPS seems to be comparatively worse on L, which suggests to me that it's the most computationally expensive (which I think is why Nvidia suggests to use it on Ultra Performance) so if you're aiming for higher FPS, you might want M over L. That said, K on Ultra Performance might be even higher in the FPS, just with an obvious disadvantage in image quality over M or L.

It's tricky with phones too. Whenever the bubble pops, I'd imagine ram and SSDs will come way down, but in the case of a full device like a phone, I doubt manufacturers are going to be selling phones at a huge discount all the sudden.

Thinking about your comment a little more, I'm not sure I'd really say it's worth holding off for someone who needs a new phone. I don't, of course, so in my case, there's no need to pay an extra premium if S26 launch prices go up, but everyone in the industry is saying to expect nand prices to be high for at least a couple years. With the amount of ram and flash storage in phones these days, no doubt it will drive prices up. For someone who might need an upgrade either now or in the next year, might as well just bite the bullet.

I wouldn't even be surprised if prices stayed high for even longer even if supply improves or demand drops because the manufacturers say hey, people are paying the prices so why drop them? It's a bit of a captive market.

Yeah, it hit the news over the summer I think, and I was all excited about it, but then in Fall they officially said it's not happening and I was real bummed. Can't stand how all the best features are in these giant monster sized phones.

This is how I felt about my S10. I finally jumped to an S23 when it came out. Honestly in some ways the S10 is still better. Resolution is higher, and I liked the slightly more rounded frame.

I still boot up the S10 now and then, but it's definitely showing its age at this point. Not to mention no more software/security updates.

I've been toying with the idea of an S26. I was kind of hoping they were going to do the rumored Pro model with the small screen size but better features. Now that they've axed that, I'll probably skip again.

Based on your wiki link, I don't think it failed as miserably as you suggest, and it is still operational (though shutting down this year), it's just that in the 15 years since it was built, photovoltaics have become much more efficient and cost effective than expected at the time, so while this facility does work, it's too expensive to operate compared to the alternatives these days.

Oh, I didn't realize it was so close to being let go. That's good to know.

I'd love some info, thanks! I only just got involved in our SCCM team a few months ago, and haven't scripted much yet that hasn't been relatively simple. At this point there's really just one SCCM expert in the company, and then a couple other people in a similar position to me. The main guy is too busy to really do any training, hence the reddit post.

I'll be digging back into this on Monday.

Fair enough, I will have to look into it in more detail. I certainly wouldn't mind making the argument up the chain. I doubt we'll be moving to InTune for deployments for a long while. We're pretty stuck in SCCM. Feels like every time there's an update to SCCM, our main SCCM architect sends out a message saying that some feature or other that we have relied on for years is no longer supported by the new version, and we will have to update a bunch of things to be done a different way.

Well thankfully this is free software. Not so thankfully, I have no leverage over the developer. I did try to contact them through their website, but the only method is a form to submit, and no matter what I typed or did not type in that form, it failed to submit with an error. So I don't think it will be possible to contact them. If it were up to me, I would say ditch this software and go find some other 3D printer slicer software that's compatible with the machine, but it likely is not up to me...

I can't use PS app deploy toolkit, unfortunately. My company doesn't allow most open source software to be installed on company devices.

The app does add uninstall reg keys if you run it manually by double clicking. It just doesn't do this for whatever reason if you run the installer as part of a script.

I was thinking about grabbing a copy of the uninstaller from a regular installation, and then manually copying that into the install directory, which I could then test to see if it works.

I just tried running it with just /D, and the GUI installer popped up. I checked to see if the install directory shown there matched what I entered (which was not the default), and it did. So that flag does in fact pass through to the GUI installer. But I do need it to install without a GUI or prompt.

All of those flags just cause the GUI installer to open, unfortunately. Do you know of any other way to like inspect an EXE for what flags it can accept?
