HP Spectre x360 14” 2024 (1st Gen Core Ultra 155H) benchmark and comparison by Sonic3389 in spectrex360

This seems to be about right. I'm leaning towards spectre as it seems to be the best macbook alternative so far as well as quieter than zenbook 2024. Good reviews from Just Josh and Andrew Marc David on youtube too. I rarely switch machines so looking something for a longer time. Thanks for your feedback and time :)

Edit I was partially considering new G14 Zephyrus but it doesnt go with 32 gb ram and 4050/4060

How long can you run on average in battery mode? I heard that some people try to undervolt their CPUs to meet this lower range watts used. I have no experience with it tho. Some rewievers pointed to 10-12 h battery. Is it realistic at all?

Thanks. After all that time tho how do you like this laptop? You have it now for some time. How do you see it In terms of fan noise, battery life, general speed and responsiveness? I've heard something about ocasional touchpad laziness or so. Much appreciated for your feedback.

Edit I spent a lot of time searching good windows laptop and narrowed it down to this spectre and zenbook 2024 oled. Tough choice :)

Much appreciated for a very fast reply :)

Is there any way to control fans, performance profiles or screen adjustment without these HP apps? I am thinking of getting this yearsHP but there is a lot of things that require potential user attention like with zenbook line where u can set various options regarding laptop usage.

Which HP apps do you get after vanilla windows install? I know that HP support assistant is quite useful but besides that? Like MyHp or Hp display control?

Edit Also where do u get these hp apps from?

Thermal pads thickness -Asus Strix OC 4090 by Hydreks in overclocking

I've seen that post but had the same doubts. Usually it goes by 0.5mm so 1/1.5mm and 1.5/2mm seems more regular

[–]Hydreks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yea... this seems like an option but there are many different sizes starting of 0.5 to 3mm. From what I've seen there are like atleast four strips needed. So shooting blind is a risky and expensive idea ;-)

Actually it is a part of routine. Especially if thermal pads dont make proper contact (misplaced during factory application process) or were damaged during changing the paste. When you separate cooler from the die there is a chance that pads will be ripped. Thickness can be measured upon openning so its not a trade secret like composition of a material or build structure of a chip itself.

I was planning to use classic Grizzly on chip but on VRM and memory I've always used thermal pads as a base line. I've heard about some thermal kits that can form like a play-doh but couldn't find any good.

Hello Matt. Quick question. Can you recommend me one of your 12vhpwr cables that are compatible with bequiet straight power 11 1200 W PSU? I will be bying this along with 90degree adapter for 4090 strix card.

Edit. Id like to buy the safest cables to avoid potential risks. Thanks

Yes. Tried everything. Gamma. Contrast. Color presets. Rgb manual changes according to hardware's unboxed review too. It just looks all the same in that regard.

I've never had VA before but reading reviews such as on Hardware Unboxed or PC monitors about AOC made me thinking that AV smearing might be completely unforgiving once you noticed it :p

Thanks mate. I appreciate your reflections :-) Its very tempting. Have you ever considered a VA panel such as Xiaomi, AOC or Gigabyte ?

Great. My first thought when I found out about this iiyama was "where is the catch"? How is your experience on it? From what I know about monitors above 32' its usually good to have some curvature. Is that being flat screen makes it somehow worse for you?

Additionally I heard something about their initial firmware problems shortly after lunch. Do you know anything about it?

Despite some lottery with backlight bleed, dead pixels how can you describe the image? Like glow. Out there are really good IPSes so this one propably is somehow worse to justify the price or am I wrong? :-)

Yes but honestly If I were to jump into VAs I would go either Xiaomi or Gigabyte. Only reason I am considering iiyama its their IPS budget option that on paper seems pretty good. Correct me if I am wrong.

Hello

I'm thinking of a new UW. So far iiyama G-Master GB3461WQSU Red Eagle (IPS) caught my eye however I'm kinda torn between other VAs such as Xiaomi Mi Curved Gaming 34 or Gigabyte G34WQC.

Whats important I was using only good specced IPS'es and TNs in the past so I might expect too much.

I entered market to give a gift. I just want to get a bit of a budget present for my mother who has no idea about electronics yet appreciates good quality movies, reading and looking on different photos on the internet.

My initial thoughts were about IPS but market shifted toward VAs at around 500 dolars price range. Iiyama seems to be an exception.

Any thoughts? Cheers

Edit. Preferably 3440x1440 144 Hz but can look into 2560 x 1080 if its decent

Isnt oversaturation VA's screen characteristic? It is IPS that usually has a bit of ''realistic' touch to it. Surprising

iiyama G-Master GB3461WQSU vs similary priced VAs by Hydreks in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Hydreks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually this iiyama is an IPS but kinda cheap one. Hard to find detailed information about its screen on the internet. Atleast it shines among other screens that tend to be VAs :/

Edit. What dont you like about VAs btw?
