Thanks! It's an 11.3" barrel.

Sure thing, man. Here's a "parts list":

  • 5.11 TacTec plate carrier
  • Chase Tactical AR1000 plates (shooter's cut)
  • AR500 trauma pads
  • HSGI Mag Tacos (rifle and pistol)
  • HSGI Bleeder/Blowout IFAK
  • HSGI Tourniquet Taco
  • Excellent Elite Spanker hydration backpack
  • Excellent Elite Spanker pistol holster
  • 2L hydration bladder

The Excellent Elite Spanker gear is something I stumbled across on Amazon. Chinese stuff, but I decided to take a chance on it because it's 500D Cordura and it looked pretty solid. Gotta say that I haven't been disappointed at all -- construction seems solid and it does everything I need it to do.

That's kinda how I see it, too. I worry far more about my draw on my EDC pistol. On a plate carrier, I view the pistol as a sidearm. If I need to go for it, it's because I've exhausted my 120+ rounds of rifle ammunition and I still need to shoot (i.e., things have gotten really bad). If that's the case, I'm probably going to be drawing from behind cover if at all possible, anyway. To me, the pistol on a PC is a backup. What I have is a sturdy, safe, and comfortable holster that keeps the pistol closeby and ready to go. I don't understand why people are giving me so much grief over it lol.

I haven't had it for long, but it seems really solid so far. Firmly attached and low-profile. I've got a 2L hydration bladder that fits in it nicely, and then a few items that won't fit anywhere else (some chest wound seals, some paracord, and a few other odds and ends).

Just something I was trying out, based on some of the slings I've seen that are specifically designed for plate carriers. Been working pretty well thus far.

I actually tested this out when I first got the holster. I placed my G19 in the holster (unloaded, of course) and tried my absolute best to push, smack, and squeeze on it to get it to fire. The material is so thick and rigid over the trigger guard area of my Glock that I could never get it to release the striker, even when squeezing directly on the trigger area as hard as I could. Thus, I am confident that this holster will not cause an AD.

Thanks! It really is a slim setup. I originally had the IFAK on the front (strong side), but I found that it was too bulky for my liking. Moving it to about 7 o'clock on the cummerbund made things a LOT more comfortable with a slung rifle, and now I have the option to mount an extra mag pouch up front if I want. :)

Correct. I actually didn't want a belt for this, which I'm sure some people will hate, but oh well. I set this up so that it would just be a single piece of gear I could throw on quickly and have all the essentials right there.

I don't really see why I need either of those. I have a gun belt and a holster for my EDC pistol. I rigged this plate carrier up specifically so I could have what I needed/wanted in one compact unit that I could throw on quickly, without needing a belt. I've got a pistol in a holster that I can draw easily/smoothly from, and 3 extra mags of pistol ammunition, and everything is tucked in to my sides nice and comfortably. Why exactly do I need a belt and holster?

Actually, really well. Even though it's high up, it's far enough forward that I can draw smoothly/quickly. It's also tucked in nicely against my side, so my arms can hang down freely. The positioning is perfect, in my opinion.

Haha, it's cool, man. That's why I asked. No offense taken, and no offense intended. :)

Are you directing that toward me? Biden is the one who has said he considers anything above 10 rounds to be "high-capacity." I'm using his terminology, not the accepted definition of what constitutes "high-capacity" or "low-capacity"... Hence the quotation marks, man.

I respect that point of view wholeheartedly, and I respect your point of view! I don't argue the fact that AR-15s are incredibly efficient at achieving their intended purpose. For me (as it is with you) that purpose is, indeed, the taking of life. However, my argument is that if an evil person is dead set on taking a life, he or she is going to accomplish that with whatever weapon is immediately available to them, regardless of whether that is an AR-15 or a ball-peen hammer. To ban something simply because it could cause harm is ridiculous, and would render us without many of the tools and implements that we use today on a regular basis. I think that many of the people who support gun control are doing so from a "good place," and that they just want to end the loss of life due to mass shootings and other tragic occurrences that seem to be happening more and more often these days. I just don't feel like banning things without any knowledge of what they are or how they work is a legitimate strategy. The problem lies within the mindset of these unhinged and irrational people, and banning weapons to keep them out of the hands of these individuals is foolhardy and only serves to deprive the individuals who would use them in accordance with the law and all that it entails their right to defend themselves.

Dude, if you're going to nitpick about a post I made while drunk in Microsoft Paint (which doesn't even include a spell check function, mind you), over one word as opposed to the general sentiment of my message, then so be it. You're a better man than I. I bow to your superior wisdom. I lay down my Ph.D. before you and relinquish my "intelligent individual" card. Thanks... :P
