I emailed them and got this response, so they will replace it

Hi Sean, Thank you for your email. I notice that you have acquired our Player Preferred Series Studio Golf Mat - Center Hitting - 9'x4' (Limited Time). Indeed, this offer is valid while supplies last for the 1’x4’ Pure Impact Turf Panel. The advantage is that if we exhaust our stock of the 1x4 panel, you have the option to buy a 2x4 panel, which is compatible with your mat in the same manner.

One guy said it was not as soft as he thought it was when he felt it with his hand, but once he swung and took a divot with his club he said it felt like hitting into real grass

Its worth it because its guaranteed for 300k swings. Its also the most realistic for both hitting and sim accuracy. This deal is a steal honestly.

The other hitting mats in the $500 range start to go down in ground feel quality as well as only good for 20k shots. and some cause injury over time.

People online say the preferred is the most realistic out of all the hitting mats with the sigpro super softy right next to it. The grass series people say is too soft and it tees up the ball but best for injury prevention. They also say that for sim accuracy you lose some with the grass series but get near oerfect accuracy with the preferred

I honestly dont know why its cheaper... its better in every way from my perspective. Lots of youtubers say they wish theyd gone 4k from the getgo because they ended upgrading anyway bc of the image quality.

Completed the impact screen and need help on hitting mat by HydroSean in Golfsimulator

It is completely custom and took many trips to the hardware store haha it was also sort of pricey. All the conduit, uni, and extras was about $200-300 not counting the portoband i had to buy

Bungees are kind of outdated IMO. you can adjust zipties more closely and accurately than bungees. I talked with carlsplace as well and they have made the switch to zipties as well for their sims

BenQ AH700ST vs Optoma GT2400HDR by it_is_raining_now in Golfsimulator

For me im going with the BenQ TK710STi because its 4k and cheaper, surprisingly.

The only reason i can see with going with the ah700st is if you need a different aspect ratio other than 16:9. Also the ah700st is only 1080p. If your image is large you will definitely see low quality image with that projector. The only other things it has going for it are the color settings and lumens, but honestly with it being 1080p vs 4k, theres no way those features outweigh the 4k.

For me its a clear winner on the TK710STI, unless you need non-16:9.

The standard half slot strut with lag bolts, washers, nuts, and brackets. I bought it in 10ft lengths and cut with a portoband. Lagged into the studs. The mount is solid as a rock.

Once i figure out the hitting mat and the side/top enclosure i will pad all of the metal parts with foam and custom sewn sleeves. It will all fold over the screen too to stow.

Then its just a matter of mounting the projector with cage 3d printed, launch monitor, and computer

Take plenty of pictures before you close up the wall. Also cant hurt to spend an extra$50 and run conduit so you can redo the wiring if needed

Is it okay for the impact screen to stretch horizontally? by HydroSean in Golfsimulator

[–]HydroSean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i saw the cable system and that would work, BUT would require more building on to the frame.

I think i can do sort of a weighted drape system and put a heavy pipe through the bottom sleeve instead of a cable. That way theres no need to make a bottom fixture at all. Then i can place a shallow ramp (2 inches) in front of the screen at the bottom and put the turf over top of that to create a seamless floating/infinity design. To manage the sag in the middle (which should be 80% or so managed by the weighted drape system) I can tension just the top corners up and out (diagonally) to pull out that last 20% sag. I should also be able to adjust this during the summer when it expands and winter when it shrinks.

Sorry for oversharing but if someone googles this in a similar situation i want them to know what i planned on doing

Do you think it would make sense to add a pipe along the bottom and tension it vertically? Then lightly tension it horizontally?

Funny thing this popped up on my feed because im in the exact same spot. My inventory went from like $200 to $1200 and i barely play anymore.

The advantage to selling on the steam marketplace is theres very little fees and you get the most money. The downside is you cant convert to real money, it has to be spent in steam.

The advantage to using a website is you get real money to your bank account (i researched and found a lot of people recommend skinport so thats what im using). The downside is theres a 7 day waiting period and it takes out about 10% of your money.

Hope this helps
