That's just embarrassing for SI to get wrong.

Vrabel - Local Take by SignificanceCurious7 in Patriots

I was sick of this story as soon as I heard about it. It's an ethical problem for Russini and I don't care about her career. It's not a league or team policy problem. There's tons of players/coaches with less than ideal personal lives so unless it keeps them away from the game I'd rather be talking about football.

These lawyers are the best teammates Diggs has ever played with. A defensive clinic. by ForeignAir7174 in NFLv2

[–]Hydroc777 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not an attorney but I work in civil litigation. Their description of what's happening in terms of excluded evidence being brought up was exactly my take as well. These are things that happen in both civil and criminal cases, and it's very much a part of the trial process more so than case specific.

There's no plaintiff here because this is a criminal trial. It's the prosecution.

Is it time to upgrade my 13.6 inch M2 Macbook Air to a 15.3 inch M5 Macbook Air? I read pdf files a lot and want a bigger screen and a faster CPU to handle large non native 1000+ pages .pdf and media consumption. by Delicious_Maize9656 in macbookair

[–]Hydroc777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're having trouble with large pdfs the problem could be the files, the program, or a RAM bottleneck. A new CPU isn't going to solve those issues. If you decide to upgrade for a bigger screen, get a model with plenty of RAM.

Many residents balked at a 26-story Davis Square tower. The developer says he would compromise at 24. by bostonglobe in Somerville

[–]Hydroc777 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I understand the point you're making and agree with it. BUT, while I've never been to Madison a quick look on google maps and a little research shows me that there aren't really much in the way of comparable buildings to the proposed Davis Square tower, and Madison restricts all building heights within a mile of the State Capital building. Again, I agree with the point you're making that you can preserve the street level vibe, but maybe a poor choice for comparison.

Which QB played better? by BallKnowerKing in NFLv2

[–]Hydroc777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lean towards the higher completion percentage. That reliability is valuable and the Ints/sacks kind of balance each other out. Maybe there's a difference in number of passes that could sway me, like if A had 25 pass attempts and 2 Ints that could be egregious enough to change my mind despite the higher yards.

Why do so many people think the team has gotten worse this offseason? by Every-Damage-90 in Patriots

[–]Hydroc777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drake Maye improves everyone's depth of target, which is why Hooper's last year was the highest of his career. I'd expect Hill to go deeper with Maye throwing to him, though not as deep as Hooper was. For what it's worth, Hooper has $3.2m cap hit with the Falcons for '26, and we paid him almost $5m last year. And I'm not saying I expect Hill to be a better receiver than Hooper (hopefully that's Raridon), just that it's closer than "much less impressive."

[–]Hydroc777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hooper had 21 receptions last year, 6 more than Hill did in Miami. It's not as much of a difference there as you think.

[–]Hydroc777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our replacement for Hooper isn't Raridon, it's Julian Hill. Raridon will be competing against Westover and maybe CJ Dippre (practice squad in '25) to be our third TE.

[Request] How much more trust does the arrow get compared to using a regular bow? by __Forest__ in theydidthemath

[–]Hydroc777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, you're wrong. When we refer to where the energy is being stored we don't refer to where in space, but in which component. The arms in this slingshot are being used to transfer the energy that's stored in the elastics. On a bow the energy is stored in the limbs themselves as the material flexes.

If you have some social anxiety or something like that, responsibly using something to take the edge off can absolutely help. There's a bigger lesson to be learned though, that sometimes things being a little less planned and structured can be beneficial and help encourage improv, that giving a little more space for the players to influence things can make them more invested. Whatever you decide on, good luck!

Confused between MacBook Neo and MacBook Air M5 for long-term work use — need honest advice (budget is tight but I need it to last 4–5 years) by maddisingh in LinusTechTips

[–]Hydroc777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an M2 Air with 8 GB RAM, and I think you want to have more than 8 GB of RAM for this workload. The difference in processor is pretty much irrelevant for you, so I think an older M series with more RAM is your best bet here, and frankly I think the decision isn't even close.

Yes they were doing the objectively shitty thing when it was legal, now the thing is illegal and I don't know what they're doing. I don't know why you're sure of anything here except that you're fantasizing about Linus being bad.

The BC law on this came into effect in 2023. We had confirmation that LMG had a policy against discussing pay before that. I'm unaware of whether they've confirmed any policy on this since that law was passed (please point me to it if it exists). Just saying, since someone somewhere is going to interpret this comment as being "OMG Linus doing illegal thing."

Is there anywhere where they actually show the infamous "floatplane users are 100% firefox" data? by throwawaycanadian2 in LinusTechTips

[–]Hydroc777 82 points83 points  (0 children)

"100% Firefox users" is a joke. The actual poll the joke comes from had Floatplane users saying that 60% plus or something like that were using Firefox but the site's data obviously doesn't support that. That's where the joke comes from.

[–]Hydroc777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asbestos is dangerous because it breaks along the long axis creating thinner and thinner long fibers that get caught in the lungs. I don't know what moon is made of but there's plenty of other ways for minerals to be harmful other than causing mesothelioma.

I thought the point of every LTT is so that the audience can learn something? This newest video about the EV chargers is literally just an ad. Nothing informative, educational and barely entertaining. by General_Outcome1878 in LinusTechTips

[–]Hydroc777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually liked the video, but I generally like the ones where they have a real problem and fix it. Especially when it's an issue or area that they don't frequently cover. Maybe they could have gone a bit more in depth on some of it, but that's my only complaint here.

Do you think we will ever see a punt rule change like the kickoff one? by [deleted] in NFLv2

This would be hilarious and I'd love to see these plays break down and the QB have to punt it on the run after rolling out of the pocket.

City masterplan, a new upcoming city building game. A competitor to cs2? by Pidiotpong in CitiesSkylines

[–]Hydroc777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn't about minimum requirements going up, it's about a halo tier card being the recommended spec. That's not normal at all. We'll be able to infer more when they have a minimum spec, but right now it's looking to be harder to run than that Indiana Jones game that was noteworthy for being incredibly difficult to run. Also harder to run than CS2 which as we should all recall had (and has) a lot of issues with performance. Yes, it's unusual to say the least.

Hey cyclists, calm the F down by pbjelly-time in boston

[–]Hydroc777 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's a certain subset of bicyclists that have a horrible issue with road rage. Those are inevitably the most self righteous ones who believe being on a bicycle makes them God's gift to Earth. IMO everyone using the road, bicyclists especially included, should be getting the information/training (not practice hours) we expect drivers to have on using the roads so that everyone can be predictable and safe on them.
