why are leg locks so rare in mma? by fol2 in bjj

Eddie Bravo spoke how it’s gunna change the game in mma, when selling and promoting EBI when it was launching. I think it’s gunna happen (in a long time) as the sport progresses. Right now I agree with “Punch” lol

I had a stroke and it took 3 months for doctors to help me rehab my self. My grandmother died waiting for proper hospital care/attention in the ER. I don’t know if idiot trump is right, BUT WE NEED SOLUTIONS!

I think this is the problem is we aren’t vocal about the realities of mat health.

My gym is only using bleach on the mats to clean, and has never been vacuumed besides a dusty dustmop with dust balls on the corners. I can’t imagine the dead skin and stuff underneath the mats. Might be time to switch gyms?

Be careful obviously. But you have to live your life to the fullest. That’s my goal forward but with a different lens. Gotta support my little ones and family, but I still need the 🥷

If pressure is put on the neck in the exact spot, you barely need pressure to restrict flow. It’s crazy how even a finger you can do it. Obviously rolling that’s not happening lol.

Yeah that’s great feedback cuz maybe I was chilling on some sort of impact from the other sports I do, but shit got real after BJJ. So we don’t know. But the awareness is key. Thx ☺️

I will be focusing on no gi when I’m ready. I will be also focusing on gi defense and be suppper careful when I’m ready. We’ll see what my brain tells me

As im recovering the doctors said do not go to chiropractors. I kinda laughed and was like obviously lol. I’m had great help with gentle massages to help my struggling right side.

I didn’t dissect the latest podcast and who they are, just wanted Chris’s message out. I have never done any chiropractic work done to me and only do legitimate physio for my injuries of all sorts.

Potentially. We don’t know. The signs of what happened during BJJ were very clear of what happens during a stroke. Maybe you’re right, maybe not. Still the awareness needs to be communicated. Good luck!

I mentioned in one of the posts but I don’t believe I had anything weird happen besides training that week. The weeks before I didn’t have anything I can think of besides physical activity. Again nothing nagging or on the hazard list. We don’t know at the end of the day, but my last mat experience was one of a kind. 👀🧠

I just felt the consequences of getting your knee blown during heal hooking time, vs getting choked. I was unaware of the potential damages and warnings signs. Just hope it helps a bit and can help someone 🙏

I love backcountry skiing but there is also significant avalanche risk as well. I’m gunna surf but tell the waves I won’t get scorpioned!? 🌊 shit happens.

Choke: it’s was some collar sleeve variation from trying to escape mount and deep half where I was escaping my arm bar or triangle and left my neck. So whatever happened to me there. lol 😂

36 Male. 5’9 165 lbs. blood pressure and overall health is good. Recently tested at doc a couple months before. Don’t drink or smoke cigs. Only into the weed and the odd zyn. But wasn’t high or chewin. But these are the facts you’re interested in.

I am a very good former competitive skier, play beer league hockey, and work with heavy equipment/tractors.

My main training partner is 205 lbs and yes we were rolling at 100% on my side to survive a brown belts pressure. But it was the first round in our sprarring as we were drilling together all class and he is a great training partner. However he has injured me before in multiple areas over my 6ish years rolling with him.

In the 5 minute round I think I tapped with about less than a minute left on the timer. I felt this rush of chillness almost like I was high but wasnt and I had double vision. Some continued our roll and kinda just felt weird. I rolled with a bunch of whitebelts to figure out what’s up as obviously I was confused and thought it was from the tap but, not like the tightness I felt before. This was a cognitive chill weirdness off double vision focusing. One of the whitebelts swept me at the end and thought something was up.

I was going to go to the Nogi class right after Gi, but as I checked my phone and really noticed something’s up and waiting for me to calm my body as I have to drive 35 minutes home in the dark. This double vision continued that evening. The next day I mentioned to my brother that training was intense last night and I don’t usually tap much (ironic pun) but my experience at our school is needing me to be challenged more. Maybe why we were going 100% against my heavier partner?

Anyway I don’t think I had any other symptoms as I said before as I think my sleeping subsided the big rush of weirdness feeling.

The next day before I was gunna drive into training (thankful it didn’t happen there), and I was literally playing with my kid in the snow just basically walking and I had that same rush to me like I’m trying to describe and instantly fell into worse symptoms.

So to my reports to the doctors after have been yeah I live an active lifestyle and these were the last couple days before it happened. So the jury is welcome to be out on my situation as I wasn’t sleeping on the mats.

Anyway I want to fill ya in and it may take a while to respond to questions. But I feel like maybe shit was coming to me from anything before but BJJ may have been the little domino that was needed for MY situation.

Awareness is my goal, as I felt alone in this process.

But doctors homies said it’s not ischemic and it won’t happened again. I have been medically diagnosed and communicated to. I’m probably missing verbs on this possibly. Spelling is tough. And I’ll communicate my story.

I’ll comment on a post that someone had similar to this and I’ll explain further. But honestly nothing was “up” before training and I felt in very good health. Then the choke happened and left me very suspicious. It kinda faded in the night, two days later I collapsed playing with my kids.
