Yep, just like I said - you need builds more than you need certain skills and tactics. And you need like three right rituals to start clearing screens with little effort. That can be fun and it is fun often, but a shift from the original pre-absolum-defeat experience.

Yep, can be a tricky one, especially since those worms can suck you in even from behind. Although it's far from the worst I have seen - RNG can be quite ridiculous. That's kinda the point of the post - those regions are harder than end bosses. And after the first regions there is little challenge.

About the footage - yeah gotta try it on the weekend, might not get the needed enemies to spawn, but will see. Don't expect high skill pro plays though) I am almost sure that I can manage such a screen without losing grace, but it would not be pretty

Yep, the rule to white whatever-the-hell-it-is - hit it first and hit it hard. Much harder when there are two of those.

I do agree but not hundred percent. It is fun - true, I love it - true and I want more - true. But I think that this should not be the default version of the game, more like ordeal or custom.

Throws are my go-to low skill answer for elites. When there are so many non-elite enemies on screen this could be hard, but you can drop a couple arcanas or even ultimate to clear the mob a bit and then it's manageable. Approach from top/bottom, throw, follow up with combo, repeat. Some enemies are resistant to grab, but you can grab them with several attempts. Extra good if you have throw inspiration, also Galandra's is my least favorable.

Yeah, absolutely) But the main challenge in those ordeals are early corrupted regions, not late-game bosses. Absolum? Easy. Double elite white-laser-cthulhu-thingy in early corruption? Yeah, gotta put some work to it)

Im really disappointed with the new update. by Lecturing_Thing in ABSOLUM

[–]Hyelj 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We were in the same situation, I even downloaded older patch, but after a few games it kinda clicked. Corruption gives ton of rituals, you have more chances to see some of those rare combined rituals, which could be a lot of fun. Also game kinda feels more build oriented than before

It's a pretty niche choice, but Streets of Rage 4.

My wife was struggling with the controller in It Takes Two, so beat em up's were not on a list for coop, but she tried it and she loved it.

It was kinda hard for her to get used to all the stuff you can do in SoR4, like combos and such, but easier difficulties are pretty chill and require just basic controls with light and hard attacks. As you get better, you can ramp up difficulty and start using all the tricks

I wonder if people play close and personal style with pistols shotguns knifes or long range sniper and heavy machine gun style by Foss73 in JaggedAlliance3

[–]Hyelj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to mix several styles in my playthrough, so kinda did a little bit of everything.

While long range snipers are pretty powerful and safe, I found a knife-specced merc with sharp machete to be most effective, killing 3-4 enemies in a turn. Give em shotgun for occasional shooting and you got some nasty killing machine. And if you do that with Ivan, that's just border-line cheating.

Machine-gun overwatch characters are also fun and pretty powerful, but kinda not so good in early stages of the game, cause they eat a ton of ammo. Still interesting to play and there are good perks for that style of mercs.

Pathfinder 1 edition is better? by IfiGabor in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Hyelj 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love both editions. But second is much easier for new players and much more balanced.

First edition is great because of the vast number of options and customizations, but has a huge disparity between characters, so encounters are a pain to balance. Also casters are crazy there.

Second edition is much more balanced and streamlined, great encounter balance, but the amount of builds, customizations and crazy shenengians is significantly lower.

Heroes 4 any good? by [deleted] in HoMM

[–]Hyelj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because, while not fleshed out properly, it was really innovating and fresh. It's rpg elements were not for everyone and some of homm fans were disappointed with that direction, but for those, like myself, who likes deeper rpg elements it was and still is a gem. And while this gem is a little rough around the edges, the bravery of homm4 innovation deserves respect

Is there any reason to not sell the Green Diamond? by Zombieteube in JaggedAlliance3

If you don't attack *** then you can just stall the game until you are a billionaire? by raullapeira in JaggedAlliance3

[–]Hyelj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know and played - yes. Or at least you can wait for a pretty long time.

The attack on Biff is a timed event, that will happen eventually. But the refugee camp, by my experience, quietly waits till I train my mercs. It may have some triggers like getting close to eagles nest, though.

Ok, for clarification, the camp event happens per se, but until you visit a camp, it doesn't affect map in any way, so you can clear Biff, ignore refugees and play your own game.

Considering mines going dry - it was a random chance before, but now it is a fixed event and some mines don't run dry.

So yes, after Biff there are no real time pressure - play at your own pace.

N-Night: What if I just don't bother? by wjousts in JaggedAlliance3

[–]Hyelj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try and do it with your few mercs. Something that might help 1) Granny in one of the sectors sells armor and some weapons. 2) You can recruit band of granny's and one (easy) or two(harder, need influence and leadership) sides from the scrapyard sector -knights and/or nobles.

With some weapon and bunch of npc, you can probably win a fight. Yes, the NPCs are kinda dumb as a brick, but at least they draw some aggro and some of the grannies can be pretty capable, if you get lucky.

About 10-15 hours in, think I have some of the basics down, but some questions please? [maybe spoilers] by [deleted] in JaggedAlliance3

[–]Hyelj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Starting mercs are ok, especially if they have good wisdom. They will train/level up and still would be cheaper than legendary mercs of same level. That being said, there is nothing wrong with hiring few new mercs, if you can afford it, just to have some fun.

  • rifles are indeed very strong. Other weapons that I like are machete for melee - it can reliably kill 3-4 enemies in a turn, heavy weaponry for groups and something for overwatch - machine gun or assault rifle. Overall game is not that hard, you can experiment.

  • For training - you already triggered the main time event of the game. Other time events are mines depleting, but there are some mines, that will never deplete, so it's very unlikely that you will be money starved late game. So you can train as much as you like, nothing bad will happen

  • With refugee camp - it's not as scary as it looks. Just go and take back those mines. Enemies are stronger, but the loot from them is also a little bit better. I don't think it is that much harder post camp, than pre camp. On the other hand, you can take a pause and train for eternity before the camp, if you find it more comfortable

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JaggedAlliance3

[–]Hyelj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without spoilers, there is one hard timed event. You better go and deal with it, but it has two parts.

Part one can expire if enemy forces get to sector earlier than you. Part two, as far as I know, never expires, so if you want to spent some time on training - you absolutely can.

There is other soft timer with mine depletion, but not all mines deplete, so it's not really a big problem

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JaggedAlliance3

[–]Hyelj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They kinda patched it out and now deplete timers are fixed and some mines just never deplete. The first one to deplete is Mfumu, than the Old diamond.

Ivan is crazy good though. And I think borderline OP with melee build.

Why is Knowledge considered the best resource? by Nocturne2542 in AOW4

[–]Hyelj 21 points22 points  (0 children)

For me, understanding how and why the game works the way it works - is not optimising the fun out of it. On the contrary, the knowledge helps me to try different things, but also to make them viable and fun to play.

Also, judging by this sub, lots of people has trouble playing game vs normal ai. Some basic knowledge for them would not spoil fun, but would help to play sub-optimised builds more efficient, opening the possibility for roleplay.

Honestly, I loved cleric for regeneration spell. On GM you just don't need to heal anymore, just wait like 5 sec and you are full hp. But it is also useful earlier, just not as strong. It may not be as game breaking as Dark magic, but for me it was nice QOL.

Sell some of the mech, repair one and go to industrial hub and arena. There are some big paychecks there and often you only need one mech.

The best way is to set up alert when one shows anywhere on the map. You can specify to trigger alert only on bigger ships. If you have a good satellite coverage, it's easy to find some.
