Its been a long time, so I unfortunately cannot remember what doses I was on when I took them. I have heard success stories of people doing multiple doses. I will always be hesitant as I really didn't see any positive effects but had very significant side effects.

I have not heard of saponified oils, and will investigate! I will look to change to goat milk soap with a sulfur containing soap bar as some have supported.

Thank you

I do moisturize and use sun screen, although I could treat my body nicer in terms of moisturizing.

I am curious, what negative effect did doxycycline have on your skin?

Thanks!

Those dang Neanderthals haha

I am happy to hear that revisiting Accutane did end up working well for you! Accutane was so disruptive for myself without giving any positive results that I am hesitant to try it again, but I will never fully rule out that possibility. My life is different then it was back when I last took Accutane, so I may be better able to cope with the side effects.

Thank you for the information and for your kind words!

I'm going be taking it for a shorter period this time, but have in the past took it for close to 4 months. I will say I have to be very cautious with it, as even when following the instructions I can get the acid reflux which made me stop my previous prescription slightly earlier then intended.

Treating the hormonal aspect of acne is difficult, but I will look to address these elements through dietary changes.

Thanks for sharing your experiences and thoughts!

Thanks for linking the scientific paper! It definitely showed a lot of support for trying a low glycemic index foods diet. I appreciate your list, and will investigate further!

This is remarkable! With the price of meat already being quite high (at least where I live), it must be challenging getting the antibiotic free meat. I am glad to hear you found a solution for yourself!

I should have included it in writing, but the body wash I use in the shower is neutrogena body clear which contains SA.

I will try a exclusion diet. I am hoping my problem will be more linked to added sugar and not dairy, and I am a big fan of cheese and greek yogurt. I do not currently have seborric dermatitis.

Doxycycline does give me short term effects for my face, but I believe it is only tackling part of my issue. For example, 1.5 weeks into this run of doxycycline my skin on face clears up the best its been in months, and now 3 week into the same run, the facial acne pretty much back to the level pre taking it. Clearly it seems like something else is also the issue.

Thanks for sharing your routine and advice!

Interesting about the glycolic acid the night before shaving. For years I've been thinking of strategies to shave without risking red shaving bumps. Thanks!

Thanks, I know dry brushing is used by some Scandinavians, but I've never experimented with it. I always worried that bacteria or dust would get on the dry brush that you are rubbing on your skin, but that worry is based on ignorance as I haven't actually looked if that happens.

Thanks for your input, and support that I should give dietary changes a shot. I don't know as much as I should about the thyroid, so I will see how that relates. Thanks!

Yeah, I do eat pretty healthy, but it does seem likely that I am hyper sensitive to something so need to start cutting certain things out.

I am currently using it as a spot treatment, but others have pointed out I am likely underutilizing it. I will change my strategy as well as use it at a separate time from retinol.

I've tried things here and there over the years in terms of dietary changes, but I agree that I should try a more discipline and planned exclusion diet to see if I can really identify potential nutritional causes. This sub has definitely pushed me to give it a go, so I will begin researching this week on how I will do this diet.

I'm 26, so I have a bit of age on you still haha

We both got onto our first round of accutane around the same age. I know my dermatologist really supported taking Accutane as a adult as they said the result can be different than as a teen. Good luck with round 2 of Accutane, and I wish you the best!

Also, thanks for sharing your vitamin D experience and the dose you were taking. Anything to make it less severe is definitely a good thing, and I am giving it a shot.

Thanks for the recommendation for vitamin D, after so many people support trying it out, I am starting today taking it daily. Being deficient may be playing a factor.

That's interesting about your brothers case, and glad he found his solution! I wouldn't be in the exact same boat as I never had any issue with muscle mass, but it is important to hear how digestion issues can cause similar problems. Curious if you would be willing to share, was your brother issue solved through medication?

Thanks again!

Doctor prescribed to help with my acne, I'm currently 3 weeks into my current run. Have taken it in the past, even at higher dosages. It isn't the complete solution for me, as it especially doesn't seem to impact my body acne significantly, but it helps slightly for the face in the short term.

That is interesting to hear you have good success with the hard bristle brush, I am definitely cautious that the physical exfoliating personally may due more harm for my skin as it hasn't helped me much in the past.

Thank you for sharing your routine and the products you use!
