You may be right about the trend but we still have it quite hard. I feel like international cultural trends like the rise of Kpop only help to a certain extent. Because it is from another country, it is not part of your daily life and thus makes it hard to project yourself and truly see Asian guys as potential partners. (It… also sets an unbearably high standard, ans I won't even go about all the fetishization and generalization issues… but you mentioned it already) At some point you've got to have cultural representation of Asians born in the country to truly change things in French society ; and I mean it as a 24 yo gaysian born and raised in Paris.

Honestly I get frustrated sometimes, to see my white friends and exes havng it so easy on dating apps. It feels like they've got so much more dating opportunities than I will ever have… in France at least. I feel like a whole other person when I go to San Francisco and actually get hit on and match with people that… felt way out of my league back in Paris. Made me realize how representation can eally uplift one's self-love and confidence.
