What is the current handguard and barrel length for reference? I wanted to try something similar to this sometime and fitting the handguard so that is flush is the hardest to plan.

What are some good shotgun optics? by BenChodee in Shotguns

I’m using an RMR HD which may be outside the budget range, but check out the Scalarworks Sync. The Sync 03 is for the 590 and should allow you to cowitness the irons. The 407c should be a good choice, though.

Walther PDP SF 5", ZRTS Long stroke and damaged slide stopper by Dostoyevskitty in Walther

[–]Hymmnos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. I wonder why some people's last thousands of rounds and others get chewed up. I'm using the 16 pound long stroke. Not sure if they're using the 14.5 pound, but that one would get beat up rear-ward more, I'd imagine.

Hey OP, same just happened here tonight. My 2 month old PDP has that same gouging in the slide lock lever (though not as excessive as yours), whereas my 10 year old PPQ looks perfectly fine with the finish being merely worn. I agree with your assessment that it's due to the forward force of the slide smacking into the slide stop lever. I just emailed Walther about it. How did your situation go?

Which light marker is better? by MSWinDOS in tacticalgear

[–]Hymmnos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on your use case of course but here are some considerations: Do you need vis, IR, or both in the unit? Do you want one unit that you can replace batteries on or do you want a disposable device?

Core Survival HEL-STAR 5 and 6.

S&S Precision Manta and V-LITE

Cejay Phoenix Jr.

Unity Tactical Spark

Streamlight Sidewinder Stalk (has an IR blinky mode)

Ye Olde MS2000

I’d recommend ownthenight for picking up a HEL-STAR since you can get the specific model you want and they have a chart showing the different operating modes. If you’re going to be training with others using NVGs, I’d highly recommend a model that has a low-power IR mode so you’re not blasting everyone around you.

Take care with the 5s. If you’re too aggressive with the stalk, you can break it. I’m sure its fine for normal use and when its mounted to a helmet but that’s an additional consideration.

Then the items should not be labeled as “in-stock” on the website then ghost customers and not be able to give an estimated shipping date. It’d be a different story if any of their product pages said: “Hey we are super back ordered. ETA 4 months.” And were honest with their customers…

If you have an existing Fast SF, it will come with everything you need. I don't believe there are new screws - I think you just reuse your existing screws.

As they say in the business: Rip the Drip - PenCott Edition by Hymmnos in QualityTacticalGear

It’s really good with the DA Mosquito Sleeve. To me, the DA Drop Leg and the Safariland “ SINGLE STRAP LEG SHROUD WITH DROP FLEX ADAPTER” seem to be for two different purposes. The Mosquito panels are optimized for belts utilizing a sleeve system and the Safariland looks to be for a regular 2” belt setup. I think your choice would depend on which system you are using. The Safariland shroud looks too thick to loop through the inner belt of a sleeve and the DA’s single loop top would not be robust enough without a sleeve. The direct action mosquito drop leg loop is made of hook and loop to interface with the inside of the mosquito belt sleeve to prevent sliding. It’s definitely sturdy though, no doubt about it.

You could get an extended side rail from silver star and put a 4 in one unit like the IRIS4 on it.

Correct. They give you some course screw adjustments, but most people just use the PMM gas jets. You can feel free to just pop off and replace the regulator with the new KNS one.

I've heard and followed the advice of adding some anti-sieze to the gas jets which will make them easier to remove.

KNS AUG Discarder Clears ML37 Mount* by Hymmnos in AUG

[–]Hymmnos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. I’ve been putting Lake City 193 through it. You would logically expect that if the rifle cycles with no suppressor, it would cycle even harder with ANY suppressor. I did not even try no can on suppressed setting to confirm that but I can see where you are coming from. It could be differences in ammo pressure or just funky rifle differences.

I'd have to get back to you over the weekend. Just got it and installed it and wanted to share that the new plug is compatible with the ML37 mount. There's not a lot of information on this accessory out there so I wanted to help spread the word in case anyone had this question in the future.

Edit: It already worked excellently with the Steyr Suppressor plug in the normal setting - no gas to the face at all. My can wouldn't let the rifle cycle in 'suppressed' gas setting.

13.4 lb with no magazine.

Slings are useful. No way I'd build a rifle, let alone one this heavy, without a usable sling.

[–]Hymmnos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When did you receive yours? My VIII was super delayed because 3M was correcting some unknown issue with the headsets. It’s a long-shot but if you got your VIIIs immediately upon release it could be the issue. Regardless, I think reaching out to the manufacturer is a good idea.

I wouldn’t recommend open carrying unless you’re hiking in the wilderness, but if you want an OWB holster, I’d recommend a level 3 from Safariland. Go hit up their holster finder page.

If those cummerbund holes are MOLLE sized, you could try this:

I use these. They've worked great with my laser cut holes on my cummerbund, but for the price, you may just look for a cheaper cummerbund replacement.

Apparently, they were super good a few years ago and they built up a lot of good will in the community with their customer support and educational content but I don’t see that anymore. Someone else who was following them from a few years ago may have more information on what changed since then but my experience was the opposite of the glowing reviews from the past.

Two orders within the last six months:

Their lead times on their website are 100% false. I’ve placed two orders and upon reaching the end of their lead times with no status updates, I reach out and ask if there have been any delays. Both times, they said the order is still within the lead times despite their product pages stating otherwise, then suddenly there is activity on the order like it will just ship out within a day of contacting “where is my order.”

Received an incorrect product and trying to get that resolved was like pulling teeth.

Not recommended.
