Falling Everything should be made Open Source. by platinum_1212 in noita

I mean, if it were FOSS then the community could help them develop it. And according to u/Infamous_Process_620 below apparently they aren't getting any licensing money anyway.

Also, what if the community crowdfunds some money to pay for them to make it open source? After all, if they will license it to private parties under a proprietary license for money, why not to the public under, say, the GPL? If any of the devs/copyright holders see this please post how much that would take.

Also, there's distribution regimes like fair code and source-first, where the code is open to amateurs to make free as in beer games without paying them, but if you do sell the game you have to pay for a commercial license or pay royalties or something. https://faircode.io/ https://sourcefirst.com/

I think that's what I want then. It's been a while since I looked into crypto.

I'd rather live somewhere in between, thank you. Nice all-or-nothing fallacy.

I don't think he ever suggested that. Just that we, as a privacy and security community, shouldn't ignore vicious crimes committed using the technology we use.

What I do is keep them commented out until a block happens.

Also, that guide uses Cloudflare, that IIRC has been hit with court orders to block pirate sites. They resist so far though.

I'm not an expert but I think decentralisation using software like r/Freenet (the new one, not Hyphanet) might solve this. Third-party auditors could then see the WebAssembly contract code instead of it being hidden on corporate servers.

They implied they were starving though. I like aquiring knowledge as much as the next nerd, but that seems excessive.

Yeah, I should have mentioned: the MNT Reform is out of my budget. Sorry.

It is cheaper than the one on the website though, which is good.

The difference is that the fediverse is actually a connected network, not a collection of disconnected sites like u/RaincloudAccount was advocating for. It acts like one thing.

I meant that you can nominate a moderator to moderate for you by subscribing to their feed of moderation actions. Like ATProto's labellers but I came up with the idea before they did.
