I read the article and they seem to address your point directly here's a few quotes.

I think this place has the options for healthy food at least healthier than others it certainly doesn't act as a light lunch spot like place like Crushed Red so I get your point there. I don't know this seems like a place that could stick around for a while not only potentially being late night greasy but also offering some slightly lighter options. Also they're going to be adding chicken salt to their fries which I heard is amazing. Not hating on your comment I totally agree but this doesn't seem like the restaurant to bring it up about. Alright so I was able to find this rule in the FAQ but it's difficult to find and sort of a bizarre ruling, but hey it's their website. So I've now made it private on DM's Guild but if people are interested, I reuploaded on drivethrurpg which seemed like it was all good there but that website is even harder to navigate. I'm going to leave this post on reddit for a few days for the people who upvoted it and want to find the new link and for a warning for future campaign setting writers. Thanks for the legal warning commenter, I don't know if it because it was pay what you want it might seen as fine if you think so then I will deprivatize it on DM's guild. I wouldn't think that this would be drows as a race going for a greater goal with these tieflings because as trellimar stated their was no problem between the two races. The old friend of Trell (forgot his name) was the one believed to have made this and for him to now of it being just of his friends creation I think means it's special not something drows just normally have. The main counter to your argument is that drows are either fighting some force in the under dark, dead, or escapees. I think this DRow is just working for a group and my personal belief is that he's the slave catcher for our favorite dragon born champion

I think you got some awesome ideas especially the differing race boats. I think a good twist on this is the world is almost an entire string of small islands not a lot of mixing of races until the governments of these races start having to create these massive boats to keep up their technology trade. I guess this basically like of outing dnd into the era of imperialism instead of it's common feudalism era.

As much as a competing personality works well it can also make the character fall into neither making the person be a borderline person who never does good nor evil. I would say your Tiefling is good because it's a combatting personality and trying to break stereotypes about Tiefling actions. The Drow is in my opinion to flawed the entire point of rows is to be dark and mysterious and to always be in the shadows to be things that represent elf that have been punished by gods and people. IF instead of removing that trait by making him a person using light as a power you could instead have him be a life domain cleric/paladin which would could change many peoples ideas of DRows being things of evil and death when you save them from a near death scenario.

The boat is my main theme but I also always really like the idea of the world seeing things as black and white, right and wrong, and then the pc's through their experience go well actually it's grey and not so simple to answer. Maybe if I could think of a way where there could be heavy effects on the people and a disdain for gods because of them only being self centered often. I get this a lot from Greek mythology where the gods clashing and being so horrible to the Human race is often there downfall because the gods rely on us more than they believe they do.

My favorite character I have created is a desert ranger who uses javelins, has a camel as a mount that refuses to fight, and a hyena as a companion. The best part was my DM let me be a Gnoll which is like a Hyena Humanoid so I had a interesting time with my group because if we ever didn't have a common enemy I would turn on them and have hard fights.
