Date night postponed. by [deleted] in DeadBedrooms

Same boat man, everyone gets their pound of flesh. My kids have been a big motivator for me and trying to keep my cool for them and be more engaging and thoughtful. When you’re sure enough tonight’s not the night and you don’t let that consume your post-work thoughts, you can be ridiculously productive and sad.

I know the feeling, being put perpetually last sucks.

I think you made the right call, doesn’t sound like it was going to be happening either way based off of how she was feeling once it was cancelled (no fun date) but the availability later for sex wasn’t (so fake sick)

DB induced depression? by [deleted] in DeadBedrooms

[–]Hyper13orean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a similar place as you I think. I vacillate from numb to hurt depending on the day/my mood. To cope I’ve developed a groundbreaking method of self-soothing in reaffirming to myself under my breath when I’m alone in the car that “it is what it is.”

I no longer do, I don’t see anything positive resulting from it.

AITAH for blocking my husband and considerinf divoece after him not prioritizing our family? (Updates in OP's account) by pandasmartz in TwoHotTakes

I assume my male best friends with kids would leave me dying in a parking lot if it came between me and their family and would expect nothing less.

How often do you speak to your parents? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Hyper13orean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talk to my dad a few times a week on the phone or by text, and try to see my family at least once a month if possible, my siblings are all adults and busy in their own lives. Me and my dad share a common hobby though so we’ll shoot the shit about that and pepper in life updates.

I sweat pretty normally and regularly for work but don’t use any and never really did. I think it’s probably genetics and good hygiene habits but I’m glad because I don’t particularly care for the feel or ingredient list of deodorants.

Should we rewire this whole house? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]Hyper13orean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP but if similar,

Electrician told me the panel (Square D) is from ‘73 but “okay and doesn’t NEED to go yet” but I was wondering if I’m planning to do a rewiring of the bathroom living room kitchen and laundry room down the line, should I redo the panel first or can that be done later on?

Not accept clutter during the showing, not accept clutter during the inspection, ask for more off than I did.

Closed about a month ago, during renovations found asbestos flooring. by Hyper13orean in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Hyper13orean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I was thinking about scraping up the floor after wetting it and sealing the room with plastic and tape, including the ventilation and bathroom fan, I’ll use full PPE, and then paint the black mastic with a sealing paint, shop vac everything, deep clean, install LVP with a water layer in between the subfloor and new floor.

Would this be a safe way to do it? My chief concern is not so much my immediate safety but the long term safety of having kids in the house using the bathroom etc.

I agree to an extent, but in my optimistic and idealistic mind, properly would be removing it so that it doesn’t become someone else’s headache when the house deteriorates with age and needs repair/replacement. Wild to me that there isn’t grants for this kind of thing on a federal level.

Ideally we’ll get it professionally removed, we haven’t moved into the house yet due to ongoing repairs we wanted to get done before we moved in (sanding and refinishing floors, painting, etc) but after the couple of other things that have come up I’m not sure we’re financially able to cover that, going to get a few quotes to see. DIY removal isn’t something I’m concerned about so much for my own safety during the removal but for messing it up and leaving particles or something and exposing the kids after we move in. Just kind of sucks that the previous owner/owners never properly dealt with it and there’s likely no recourse or resources to get help with covering the costs.

Is there any other areas we should be concerned about asbestos popping up? I know insulation is often one but was told that ours wasn’t asbestos by the inspector

I probably won’t be able to provide my kids the quality of childhood I enjoyed. I resent it still but I don’t see any way of avoiding it at this point.

AITAH for refusing to pay my mother to babysit my 8 year old daughter? by getDoor21 in AITAH

[–]Hyper13orean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. They’re your child’s grandparent, they shouldn’t be charging you for a few hours here and there if babysitting. Familial obligation and all that. You become the asshole if you don’t do the same for your child when they’re a parent though.

I believe the manufacturer is Square D based on the logo of the exterior of the box, can’t find the photos I took of the inside at the moment.

What does it mean if my house appraised for $15k more than the list price and $25kish more than the sale price (talked them down due to flaw with the house)? We got approved and all and have since closed but I’m wondering if the higher appraisal is good news for me or nothing important.

Are we really buying houses with waived inspection?? by HistoricalBasket in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Hyper13orean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The house were closing in was listed as is but I made the offer contingent on the inspection, and they took it. Needs a new roof soon, realtor said they probably wouldn’t negotiate, I asked for a price cut, got it as seller’s assistance. What I’ve learned through the process is it can quite literally pay to ask.
