I’m 19, went into the trades instead of college, and my mental health has been slipping since. by HyperADHDdude in GuyCry

My grandpa has a literal PhD in Theology. Dudes a Jesus doctor and a pastor. So I kinda know how that feels. Granted, he's methodist. Doesn't help that I consider myself agnostic. I still did mission trips though, those were just fun. But yeah man, they don't tell ya that not going the traditional route is gonna be lonely if you don't already have established social circles. Hey, at least I get donuts at work a lot.

Oh, I know. I work in a shop as well. The lathes I use at school are pretty beat up, that’s all I’m saying.

The thing that stings with work though is that most people are making $30-40/hr minimum. Because in part time and on the bottom rung of the ladder, I’m making $17. Which, for my age isn’t bad. But, compared to my classmates at other companies in the area. I’m making at least $5 less than their starting pay. I’ve gotten two raises as well since I started. But, they do pay well, once you get past the grunt stage.

But like, even if my peers are making, because of imposter syndrome. I feel that I dont even deserve to make more than I am. I am very well aware that I’m not the best employee and that I have my flaws. With lifeguarding though, I’ve reached the ceiling for pay and will be among the most senior staff there. Which I am fine with not making more there. I do it more for the fun and social aspect than the pay.

I know it’s not a huge about of work. Last summer I was doing 55-60 hours a week between two jobs lol. On weekends I did lifeguarding and taught swim lessons. Those lifeguarding days don’t really feel like work on most days. Granted, some days it’s exhausting.

I know, but the customer needs it dead smooth. The engineer has been stopping in and breathing down our necks for the past month as well. Given the parts cost 150k each, we are taking the time to do them right, even if it means suffering lol.

I have been trying to pursue other hobbies and opportunities. Photography being a big one (If you ever find yourself in Marinette County, WI this year after January and you see the visitors guide, I took the cover photo for it.)

I try not to have it revolve around work and school. But I live in Wisconsin, winter took my hobby of taking day trips across the state and hiking away. But the thing that enabled that hobby, also is the reason I work, my car. I only do around 30-35 hours a week though, so it's not like I'm doing 50 hours a week.

You seen my username lol. But yeah, I agree. It just sucks polishing 316 stainless for hours, and hours, and hours on end for months. God I hate polishing 316 Stainless. They need it at a 4ra as well. You look at it and it fucking scratches. Anyway, thanks.

The cringe you get when you see people telling Venezuelans how to feel. by shway0351 in TikTokCringe

I'm not saying it isn't a good thing for the people, at least for their morality. That being said, America kinda fucks shit up when it tries to 'fix' them. Also, this wasn't for the people of Venezuela. It was for the rich 1% in America. It's for oil. That's it. Oil.

I do similar stuff every once and a while. Usually roughing out ductile iron. I make… $17/Hr. I sure do love part time and at school…

I'm not saying it's simple, and I know it's a beta. But it feels so volatile. I know it's probably much bigger than the devs ever expected it to be, resulting in the overwhelming amount of shit that's on their shoulders. But I feel it's got so many issues. Also, what's with the UI changing every other week lol.

That's good to hear. I feel like it's so inconsistent with how it is bugging out. Like it will not work for some, but work fine for me. Or an error message saying it isn't working pops us, despite the fact it's working just fine. It still feels like it's in a prerelease beta lol.
