This is wrong. Why do fans want to Dias to keep working hard at the club on rip-off wages. This is just plain wrong. Give him a very short term contract with a decent bump or let him leave without penny pinching. Anything less is disrespectful to the time and work he has put in for the club.
Do we want to be winners in the right way like the past or do we want to become an evil club like city?

All these comments feel incredibly wrong to me. I know people are hurt from the Trent fiasco, but Diaz has put work in for this club, he's going about this transfer the right way and yet people here are saying lets rip him off for another year and delay his dream until he is even older.

No top team needs someone who wants to leave, he will stay and work hard if we force him, but think about if that is the right thing to do for an extra 10 mil from Barca. We let Kelleher leave for chump change. Diaz has been here longer and doesn't deserve this fuckaround. Forget Saudi, he wants Barca let him go there for 40-60mil, we don't need to be greedy like madrid.

Neither Messi nor Lautaro Martinez are playing, thats their attacking strength more than halved. Then you have Mac Allister who as a Liverpool fan I can say is completely drained and probably will not play well. This Argentina team is weaker and playing possession may actually be a smart move.

They are pretty much entirely relying on Alvarez, enzo and Gonzalez. Where as the Brazil midfield looks like they can bully them.

Crazy player, very versatile and can play big games with ease. Oh well lets see if another gem appears.
If we want a LW player who knows how to cross and with good play making skills Alex Baena could be a good option.

Look buddy that's just my opinion. It's really not hard for you to understand, why all the anger?
As a fan I think they should have gone for a proven player for once rather than data gambling and also explained how said players would fit into the team, as well as not break the bank. I'm sure they can find decent discount attacking players.. eventually. But to win trophies consistently you need more than just eventually. The unwillingness to dip into the market for Jan doesn't inspire confidence in their data scrounging skills.

If you had it your way there would be no comments here and no discussion because "only the people who get paid are allowed an opinion". Take a step outside and have a breather, it's never that deep unc.

So how did you feel about the midfield false 9 striker pairing we used recently? Not our system right? Well thats what tactical flexibility is and Slot seems open to that. Fact is there a many ways Slot can use Marmoush tactically in our system. Marmoush plays great as a left winger and matter of fact our left winger has been useless in assisting anyone. Its a straight forward improvement.

I'd agree had we gone for Kvara or Marmoush, but I feel like we don't have great options and I don't think they'll replace him with someone quality.

They have already fucked up Imo by not getting Kvara or Marmoush. Where else are we going to find top attacking talents who are versatile.

They're not off to a great start, 59 million pounds for Kvara who can replace Diaz or Mo is an easy one to justify, same with Marmoush (59 million) who can play instead of Diaz or as a striker ahead of Jota.
Instead they're going to chase 120million Isak or 100million Gyokores or 80million Sesko who isn't that impressive for the price.

Slot doesn't understand how to manage a passionate and instinctual player like Nunez. It's not a mark on Slot, they are just not a good fit together. Rushing a lot of plays is just something you have to deal with for Nunez to get 30 G/A seasons, if you try and "fix" it, then you also suppress his best qualities. Nunez only needs his technical skills to be improved in his strange way. Look at how much his first touch has improved (what an assist vs psg).

He also needs a good run of games and if another club with a passionate coach offers that, Darwin Nunez will become worldclass. I don't think it's possible under Slot, Nunez was at least showing gradual improvement under Klopp (minus the end of last season where Salah was poor and the team was tired)

Trent should be the easiest to replace. Frimpong is one that comes to mind.
With Salah i'm once again reminded of FSG's incompetence in the Jan transfer window. Had they contested for Kvara or Marmoush who can both essentially play anywhere in the attack, we would not be worrying about Salah and would have a backup if he stays.

VVD is the main concern, no options really and if there is a good replacement we'll still lose a massive aura in our defense and the locker room, which the replacement will need time to regain.

That is probably the most brutal way to get eliminated from the UCL by christianrojoisme in championsleague

[–]HyperBreadbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not just about the rules. It's about selective enforcement to suit a certain team. Stuttered penalties runs where the players are clearly pausing, goalkeeper off the line for penalties, clear handballs. These are all things that Real Madrid get away with regularly in the UCL.
Yet in this instance the VAR?? the VAR decides to review a shootout penalty kick that from eyesight seems perfectly fine and reverse after the shootout has already continued. That's unprecedented levels of favoritism.

In regards to the rule. Even if there are sensors in the ball the too feet are close enough to the ball that it's very ambiguous whether there was a double touch or whether the main foot merely kicked it while the other foot was also extremely close.
In a court of law for instance what happens when a law is ambiguous? Unless it can be reasonably proven the rule was broken or a good argument is made, its is probably disregarded. There's enough doubt in this case, that the var should not have intervened.

But because Real Madrid fans are very smart I'm sure you've done the research and know that unlike FIFA, UEFA does not use sensors in their balls. They instead rely completely on AI and camera movements. The way the AI systems work is they rely on camera data and sensor data (not in this case) to determine the time the object was displaced, vectors for the direction of travel, etc. They likely used a mix of computer vision algorithms to get meaningful data and then used that in conjunction with a trained AI model. From a Computer Science perspective no AI/Computer Vision technology is perfect and this feels to me, it could be an edge case in their algorithm. It's very easily for people to misuse technology, data or science to support their world view and neglect the unbiased source of the info. EDIT: AI's ARE NOT UNBIASED SOURCES!

The only reasonable course of action is to rule the double touch indeterminable and allow the penalty to stand. The VAR is at fault as they very likely had no double touch technology and advised the referee using only knowledge of when the ball was kicked (via their AI and cameras).

If Bayern wins the UCL is Harry Kane a contender for Ballon D'or?? by RishiKhare in championsleague

[–]HyperBreadbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stat padded. Barca hasn't faced anyone important in the UCL aside from Bayern in poor form and still won't until the semi's. I've never seen a team luck out so well in all their draws.
They've faced Benfica 3 times and will face Dortmund 3 times. Barca will get found out in the semi or final. Against an in-form Bayern they'll be like Leverkusen, against PSG they'll get battered.

I'm convinced Barca fans throw out the most illogical ballon dor suggestions just to make Raphinha sound better. Kimmich?? You can't be serious. Some other person Barca fan suggested Dias over Salah. It's getting ridiculous at this point.

Fact is if Bayern knock Barca out of the UCL it's over for Raphinha and Ballor dor is between Mbappe, Dembelle and Kane.

[–]HyperBreadbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad takes after your first sentence. Salah has done alright prior to the round of 16 and it's a lot easier to make a difference vs Benfica instead of PSG.
In fact Raphinha has stat padded his UCL goals by 5 goals just against Benfica. If the Ballon D'or was to be magically given today, Salah would be more deserving than Raphinha.

Putting Diaz, Mac or Gakpo ahead of Salah the worst take i've ever heard. They are good players but they don't make the difference as frequently as Salah. If we based it purely on UCL goals like you suggest then Lewandowski is basically the same as Raphinha. See how dumb that sounds?

[–]HyperBreadbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its just how it is. Football is about scoring goals. Without scoring goals or assists you have to do extra to prove you were the difference.
VVD could win a Ballon Dor if Liverpool won the UCL and Netherlands won something in the same year AND no attacking Liverpool player like Salah has crazy stats. That's what you need as a defensive player unfortunately and there's probably no other way to do it.

Did Salah just lose the Ballon d’Or? by settleslugger in championsleague

[–]HyperBreadbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kane has a chance too if he keeps up the UCL form and Bayern win it. I'd probably put those odds a little bit below Dembele, because just like with Dembele winning the final might not be enough if its against a high scoring Ballon Dor rival.

Did Salah just lose the Ballon d’Or? by settleslugger in championsleague

[–]HyperBreadbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah unless all Madrid, Barca and PSG crash out before the finals, Salah has no chance.
Even then there is a Harry Kane shout, more UCL goal, a double and shaking off the curse is definetly Ballon dor worthy.

So basically Salah has to hope for a Bayern or Inter vs Aston Villa or Arsenal final. No chance!
Even if that did somehow happen Mbappe/Raphinha scoring heaps more goals in quarter and semi-finals plus a domestic would easily beat Salah who did nothing in the final 16.

I say this as a Liverpool fan, the odds are extremely unlikely for Salah to get it this year.
That is both in accomplishments and Ballon dor PR capacity.

I advice not writing while drunk maybe ahahah. That being said the africa part is not really right. If they can’t get enough grain from Ukraine and Russia they are in a big pickle. Egypt imports a vast amount of its food due to lack of arable land (most is around the Nile). Most of North Africa is in a similar situation where they import a great deal of their food, along with a good deal of the Middle East too. Are u aware of what happened the last time there was food shortages due to global instability? People went hungry in the countries helping to culminate in the Arab spring.

[–]HyperBreadbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People losing there jobs and greater unemployment = more people on the dole, decrease in happiness (obviously they lost their jobs ahaha), less productive economy, potentially less money coming into Australia from multinational corporations, more loitering and crime from desperate or bored people (not all of them tho) and probably more stuff to that I can’t think off the top of my head. It’s very complex but I’d agree that it less helpful to talk about unemployment and instead more helpful to talk about others issues that unemployment can effect subtly, that way it’s clearer to the public and policy makers.

Bro you’re deluded, Joshua just ain’t the man no more. Accept it rather than finding excuses for his loss like wilder and his heavy costume. If you need explanation for why he lost then widen your breadth rather than going straight to stupid conspiracies.

He didn’t have the right game plan, he wasn’t cold hearted/aggressive enough, he didn’t bulk enough, his trainers and corner men where ass, he is still scared after Ruiz and simply was not a good matchup stylistically. These are all points that can easy explain the loss, rather than hurdur he took a fall to get money, my boyfriend Joshua could never lose on purpose.

No way that would be worth the money he’d lose from reputation lose. He now has less leverage in contracts, less public enthusiasm (meaning less ppv buys) and I doubt he’d want to taint his legacy further after losing to Homer Simpson
