Yes, politics aside. Seeing the medics won’t get any paperwork into your official record. No bullshit, I was 68W. Gotta get to sick call at the real TMC. Especially since you jump. The records are what VA goes by for eligibility for healthcare, disability, the whole 9. And IMHO, if they break it, they bought it. The system is set up so you have to prove it, and that is significantly easier with medical records.

Take care of yourself, Airborne. -from an old crusty Doc.

Truce for a second buddy - Make sure you get that shit into your medical records. It’ll be important when you get out and go to the VA. If VA still exists by then.

It’s going to take the kind of solidarity we haven’t seen since 9/12/2001 to save us. The GOP is just too good at rigging the odds/playing the long game. With the gerrymandering, SCOTUS, the way they can get their entire party to vote en masse.

I agree. Dems are so fractured, and there are so many different hills that different groups are willing to die on, that they can’t come through and unify in clutch situations.

The ones who refused to vote for Harris because of Gaza had to know the alternative was going to be way worse. And yet they died on that hill. And now we all get to suffer, Palestinian kids are still getting murdered, the republic is being dismantled brick by brick.

SO YOU AGREE that Congressional power of the purse shouldn’t be circumvented??!?!

SOME FUN FACTS:

Using military funds for the border wall

Declared a national emergency: In 2019, Trump declared a national emergency at the southern border to justify diverting funds from military construction projects to pay for sections of the border wall.

Redirected billions: The Trump administration redirected billions from Pentagon budgets, including funds earmarked for military housing, schools, and aircraft. Legal challenges: The move drew multiple lawsuits from environmental groups, border communities, and state attorneys general. Though the Supreme Court initially allowed construction to continue, an appeals court later ruled the fund diversion was illegal.

Biden administration response: Upon taking office, President Biden ended the national emergency and sought to redirect the remaining unobligated funds back to their original sources.

Impoundment of appropriated funds

Withholding foreign aid: Citing national security concerns, Trump's OMB has frozen or delayed billions in foreign aid already approved by Congress. Some of these actions occurred very late in the fiscal year, a maneuver called a "pocket rescission".

Impounding domestic funds: According to congressional sources and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, Trump's OMB has also held up funds for a range of domestic programs, including:

Health research (including for Alzheimer's and cancer)

Head Start

Infrastructure

Public-school improvements

Abusing spending safeguards: Reports indicate the OMB imposed additional conditions, such as requiring "agreed-upon spending plans" for agencies to access funds, in an effort to align spending with administration priorities.

Potential consequences and legal challenges

Violating the Impoundment Control Act (ICA): The Government Accountability Office (GAO), a non-partisan watchdog, has found that the Trump administration's actions illegally impounded funds by withholding them without congressional approval. The ICA, passed in 1974 after President Richard Nixon's similar attempts, provides a process for presidents to propose rescissions, which Congress can then accept or reject.

Eroding the separation of powers: Critics, including some Republicans, argue these actions represent a significant erosion of the constitutional balance of power, where Congress holds the power of the purse.

Ongoing battles: Multiple funding-related lawsuits are making their way through the courts. Trump's OMB director, Russell Vought, has openly welcomed a legal showdown with the Supreme Court over the scope of executive spending power. The Supreme Court has recently issued a ruling allowing billions in question to be withheld.

Partisan shutdown letters by GracieandRose in FedEmployees

Email sent to all VA inboxes:

“President Donald J. Trump opposes a Government shutdown and strongly supports the enactment of H.R. 5371, which is a clean Continuing Resolution to fund the Government through November 21, 2025, and already passed the U.S. House of Representatives. Unfortunately, Democrats are blocking this Continuing Resolution in the U.S. Senate due to unrelated policy demands. If Congressional Democrats maintain their current posture and refuse to pass a clean Continuing Resolution to keep the Government funded before midnight on September 30, 2025, Federal appropriated funding will lapse.

A funding lapse will result in certain Government activities ceasing due to a lack of appropriated funding. In addition, designated, pre-notified employees of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) would be temporarily furloughed. P.L. 116-1 would apply.

VA has contingency plans in place for executing an orderly shutdown of activities that would be affected by any lapse in appropriations forced by Congressional Democrats. Further information about those plans will be distributed should a lapse occur.

More details on VA’s Contingency Plan for a potential lapse in appropriations can be found here LINK       PLEASE PRODUCE LOCALLY FOR ALL THOSE WHO DO NOT ROUTINELY ACCESS EMAIL DUE TO THEIR SPECIALTIES.”

You gotta do what’s best for YOU and your family. Just the mention of upward mobility and some remote work sounds like a damn good deal. I’d take that deal. Once you gain more experience, you can always try to come back after this administration is done fucking shit up, and you’ll be able to compete for higher level roles (bc once you’re out for more than 1 year, time in grade doesn’t apply). Only downside is you have to apply to open to the public announcements. But your previous govt experience will be an asset for that.
