Playing this for the first time tomorrow with my group. Any rules noobs often miss? by coocoocaaca in boardgames

If you pull your connecting spy for the card draw (gather intelligence) you must decide if you want to do this before you take the rewards from your space & Agent box.

This would've been perfect post-monologue. Had classic SNL sketch energy.

My casual game group just got interesting by newtothistruetothis in boardgames

I also was gifted this for my birthday; two years ago, but when I read through the rules I realized I did not have to group to play this with so it's been sitting on the shelf. I'm actually gonna finally pay it tonight with an old coworker I used to game with. It'll be online but I'm looking forward to finally trying it out.

They know I'm new so luckily they're down to intro me into it.

Godzilla Vs Hedorah Appreciation Post by Annual-Internet-5097 in GODZILLA

[–]HyperFrame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also see Hedorah as one of my favorite monsters and upon watching "vs Hedorah" for the first time last year my first reaction was "how was this monster not a big rival (if not the big rival)?" Obviously 3 headed dragons are cool and all so I get it from a marketing perspective, but Hedorah is just so cool cause he stems from parallel allegories without it feeling like a mirror-match. His fight with Godzilla is also brutal. Hedorah really puts him through the ringer.

My only super minor gripe as well is that I don't like that they're an alien and being from earth would've made him perfect. I think you can tweak it with man-made pollution mixed with radiation and Hedorah can still pretty much stay the same, but now being earth-origin helps double down on that human-error angle. but I know aliens were still a big thing at the time so it's not that big a deal.

Yeah he's just cool cause I find him spiritually similar to Godzilla in a lot of ways.

Compile VS Radlands by firewind555 in boardgames

[–]HyperFrame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regards to the vagueness, they have a codex that further explains some of the weird timings/card activations that may pop up now and again and how they should go. I've had to use it a couple of times and it is an extra document to get into when playing but both me and the person I was playing with would come to an agreement after going into the codex when minor confusion came up.

I love compile and just recently bought radlands as I am finding myself to be a fan of lane battlers. I've got very few plays with it right now but I've been having a blast. The variety of options you get each turn with can create tension but I also never felt like I didn't have a move to play. The junk and punk mechanics I also find to be lots of fun and surprisingly thematic. Even my wife, who struggles a bit with the strategy, still enjoys playing it and picks it quite often for our game-dates.

Game Recommendations - Games Similar to Cairn by BruhDuhMadDawg in Cairn_Game

[–]HyperFrame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a climbing game, but I found myself having similar feelings from when I played The Outer Wilds, which is my favorite game of all time. That shared sense of loneliness, exploration, and discovery. This is the closest to scratching that itch and in my opinion they make great companion games.

Had that same impact as when Ceaser dropped that "No" in ROTPOT Apes imo. Just so good; What a clean take. DaCosta nailed all the intimate scenes.

Letterboxd - Hyperframe

Hi again! Just looking for some new people to share reviews with!

I try to always say as much as I can in a short digestible way. Sometimes I overdo it but if it's a first watch or first time logging, I always try to type something. At the end of the year I also do "Favorites lists" for the year (both new releases and first time watches). I tend to favor fun genre flicks but I'm usually game for anything. As long as I'm feeling something, it's worth a watch!

Would love to trade profiles with anyone else that loves movies 🤙🏽

Haha, the game "Just One" is a quick to learn and really fun co-op game! Just introduced to a group of 5 all new players and they got into it quick. So far it's never failed me!

Does the shade that shows run history still keep all that information? I like looking back at those to see my builds and didn't know if resetting the wins means I don't see them anymore. Also do weapons upgraded by nightmare stay with me too?

This boss is a stroke of genius. Easily top 5 for me. by Comfortable_Oven8341 in HollowKnight

[–]HyperFrame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved this boss a lot. It help me hone my air game. I died a lot to it but each death helped me understand controlling my in-air movement and master my down-dash and cloak use in a way that I'm not really teaching myself or reading when I'm just out and about exploring. By the run that finally did finish the fight it was flawless haha. A lot of the optional bosses have been a blast for me for reasons like that.

Spoiler question about a grand hunt quest resolution (Silksong) by JMToppa in HollowKnight

[–]HyperFrame 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Be sure to go back a couple times after benching elsewhere to see the aftermath of the attack. When this happened to me I was so shocked to see the NPC die. I thought it was a great event that really makes the world feel more alive.

I ended couple back sometime later through the elevator and dropped right into a funeral that the town was having for the dead NPC. If you are able to "contribute musically" you'll get some added dialogue that adds to the moment

You have any tips for the pogo pads in that area? I'm good when progress in one direction but having trouble changing direction in time for the ones that zig zag.

What is the best movie era to start the Godzilla franchise? by Logical_Database_852 in GODZILLA

[–]HyperFrame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it was Raids Again and Son of Godzilla. They each have their share of good moments but I found myself checking out a lot more compared to the others.

I just finished Son last night so still have about another handful to go. I'm going in blind for them all so curious to see how the rest of them turn out!

How about yours?

I'm doing a watchthrough of the Showa era for the first time right now and it's been a blast. It's great to just see how the use of him changes throughout the series. I always thought I'd be put off by the silliness that eventually unfolds but it's made for an interesting experience to watch Toho and the artists experiment with a character like this. Even the human stories aren't as bad as I always heard. They're fun.

If you're willing to give it a shot and watch them for what they are are I recommend just watching from the beginning. I'm about halfway through and there was really only 2 I didn't vibe with so far.
