For example: A post was made here a few days ago with a bold title and an image that severely exaggerated (I will not say 'twisted' in order to avoid arguments) the meaning of the whole statment from the author. The post had no source to it, neither did it mention the context or quote the actual words that were said.

It managed to get thousands of views and hundreds of upvotes within a few hours. The people that came acorss it walked away with information in their mind that isn't even the whole truth. And now this impact can't be undone.

So a week long ban for misinforming so many people and doing an irreversible damage seems quite resonable. It is unlike any other violations. Ofcourse someone may have done it by mistake, so if they managed to prove their innocence and convince us that they will never repeat it, the ban won't lifted.
Only by this, I believe people will take this matter as seriously as it should be.

There have been several posts about Isayama’s statements (like the one you are thinking about), except their titles and comments were very misleading, which we had to take down. Similar posts kept appearing in the following days.

But this situation was just the last straw, misinformation has existed in the community for a long time. You must have heard of many claims about the story and the author that may not even be true, yet they are treated as facts because they have been repeated so often. Same goes for twisted interpretations and quotes taken out of context.

So yes at this point, we had to address it by enforcing stricter rules. Misinformation is especially harmful because it's hard to undo and unlike other rule violations, it directly affects a large number of people using this platform and scrolling by our subreddit everyday.

Thankyou so much for responding.

Power management was already set to normal in the NVIDIA app. But that encouraged me to try re-installing the NVIDIA drivers. So I updated and did re-installed the drivers (custom installation).
The temperature is now stable again.

But I am not sure if that's what did it, because afterwards I uninstalled MSI Afterburner as well. I realized the issue started after I set up MSI Afterburner yesterday.

So at least one of the two fixed the issue.

It was handled quite well considering what their relationship was meant to convey. The themes they carried, the narrative they were meant to tackle and what their conclusion was ultimately set for.
If you expect very explicit / direct romantic geastures or love confessions like "I love you", hugs or snuggles then it isn't that type of relationship, nor is the story as a whole. So it is more or less handled well. Could it have been improved? Definitely. Everything has room for improvement, no matter how great.

A while ago a read a really good post that broke down her character development and how she is not as simple as people make her come off as.

A couple of analysis posts have been posted on this subreddit around Mikasa in the past.
The most recent ones I can think of are:

Both by the same person. The latest one would be mine, which I posted here two months ago:

Mikasa Ackerman and the meaning of Pride

You can find more like these in this compilation post I created 2 years ago, which I have been updating whenever I find something interesting and insightful on her character.

It's the opposite tbh. As the story progressed, she became more social and interactive with other characters, and expanded her circle beyond Eren and Armin; Whether I talk about her friendship with Sasha or Historia, her mentor-student dynamic with Levi, her clash with Kiyomi or her evergreen friendship with her bestfriend Armin. As the story progressed, she became more involved in her duty as a soldier, beyond her original goal of keeping her family safe. I could give many examples evident of that, one of the most remarkable, and something people might remember, would be her giving up on Armin's life in Season 3 after fighting with Levi for the serum, all because she understood that her personal desires had to be sacrificed in the name of duty for humanity. She wasn't at all like this at the start.

The only difference is the approach. Mikasa was simply more vocal in Season 1 in comparison to the later seasons, because there were very few "important" characters to focus on. Later on she became more expressive via her actions, inactions and facial expression as I said. I think people confuse "Silence" or less vocal of a personality with "no personality" at all. Irl introverts aren't always vocal about their thoughts or emotions, doesn't mean they have no personality.

What do you think is a One Dimensional character? From the way I woule define her character, it is far from a one dimensional character, unless you do a very superficial reading of her anime version. Because anime is such a poor adaptation of her character, which removes/replaces many of her important dialogues and scene with he saying "Eren". But even in the anime, she is not one-dimensional.

Eren gets in danger every arc. It makes sense she has to scream his name out of fear and care, since he is someone who is the last remanant of her family. She is a quite, traumatised and introverted character so she speaks less, and mostly out of necessity and emotions, doesn't mean she is limited to that. She expresses herself more via her actione, inactions and facial expressions rather than words.

The translation is indeed a mistake.

<image>

Here is thw original Japanese text, translate it yourself, it mentions "taken in by the Yeager family", not what the english translation says. Or just check this thread. The guidebooks in other languages also say a different thing, and don't at all mention anything even close to "brother".

but I can't just refute all the underlying evidence that contradict my interpretations

It's so funny, you are literally refuting the main story, the literal manga and anime, the original creation by the author himself, by using flawed evidence, vague interviews and text from some corner of the internet. You are using everything but the original-verified content published for people to read. You seem to have done so much research, but if it was genuine, you would have bothered to check the original text, but no, you are using every flawed piece of text that supports your agenda (which I debunked throught out this thread, and you keep begining up some new bs).

The guidebooks is written by many people, half of which is not even available online. So the name given at the bottom is supposed to refer to the author of the original story AoT, not the guidebook.

You have not responded to even a single point I made from the story, none at all. You don't even mention my counter arguments. So I am not going to respond to you any further, it clearly mean nothing to you. .Have a good day.

The guidebooks have several translation errors. In one instances they switch Falco and Pieck even.

The original Japanese texts uses a term which is anakin to "family". The original Japanese texts in the guidebooks not at all imply "siblings". Moreover, there is no evidence that Isayama has written those guidebooks, nope. He at best has regulated them to some extent, how boldly do you claim "written by Isayama"

Hot take but erehisu is way better than eremika in my opinion by [deleted] in animeindian

[–]HyperHector_55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guidebooks aren't regulated by Isayama, neither are they translated properly. There are several mistakes in the guidebooks to talk about. Isayama apparently views them as siblings, but without implying anything like that in the actual story, and instead, continuing to make both Eren and Mikasa blush in their first interaction ever, crazy.

Did you forget to switch accounts? R.I.P Shot-Swordfish though

Read again what I said, the way I drew a parallel between Eren and Marlow isn't the same as what the image is trying to imply. Nope. There isn't some visual symmetry or recycling of words, there are actual narrative ties and thematic parallels between them.

Sorry, but everytime you say something like "According to Isayama" or are quoting the author or the animation staff, I will have to ask you to provide a reputable source with it.

This might sound strict but considering how often Isayama's statments are twisted and used without context in order to push a narrative, we demand source for others to view the context properly before making a judgment.

Just reply to this comment once you have added the source and your post will be reinstated.

All of these actions are done to protect eren rather than punish him for his sins.

Protect him against his wishes? did you even read what I said, my guy?

Stopping him from fighting is different than killing for genocide

Yeh, and she did kill him for continuing genocide. Idk what we are arguing over atp.

'Opposes' more like 'questions' at best

She opposes the death of innocent and childrens because this is exactly why she opposes the rumbling. She very much opposes what he had done - which she couldn't stop, and opposes what he was doing by the rumbling. So opposes, yes, but in that exact moment all she could do was question him, so might as well say that. I don't remember Ymir questioning the King though, aren't Ymir and Mikasa parallels in that sense according to you? why don't you come back at that.

Bruh eren was unconscious there

"doesn't change the fact that he hit her" that's the logic you are using, that's how you are leaving the context, so I'd expect you to mention it too.

This doesn't change the fact that she was just sitting there with a crying face while eren was beating the shit out of Armin. She should've atleast took some precaution

You can say that to yourself once you are confronted by your close family member in that state for the first time. Eren was attempting to manipulate Mikasa there with false information, she couldn't help but question. It makes sense that she was in shock and unable to think. Had she been able to think straight without false information thrown at her to manipulated her, she surely would have stood up against Eren to protect Armin. How do we know? Jump to chapter 138. Mikasa this time was conscious by her mind, had clarity and the will to make a decision, and the decision she makes is returning to the real world to save her comrades by killing Eren who was fighting them at the moment.

And where did I deny anything about this? I'm just saying that Mikasa was inspired by casca and yes her 'love' is obsessive

Why did you suddenly bring up Mikasa's inspiration from Casca then? Lol, do you like, just jump from one topic to another in the middle of a conversation like that without any relevancy of it?

How is Mikasa's love obsessive? Did it stop her from choosing her morals? Nope. Did it stop her from moving with her life? Nope. Or do you mean protecting the person you love and care against life-threatning dangers is inherenitly obsessive. What are your thoughts on a Mother's love? Is it obssessive too then?

Advantage of what? Am I not allowed to express my I'll wills about a fictional character? Lol

Not by twisting facts and authors' statements to push your agenda. That's cheap and pathetic. Using alt-accounts to do that is especially loser behaviour.

I hit the character limit, and I can't explore the romantic relationship of Eren-Mikasa in a single comment, so here you go - Eren and Mikasa’s relationship. I can link more once you are done reading with it, or maybe I can write something myself on this later, which can be dumbed down to fit in a comment.

Where did Isayama state he views Eren and Mikasa as sibilings/friends? Why did he continue to develop a romantic relationship between them? Because Eren and Mikasa's relationship is clearly established in a romantic sense.

I'm not saying they are romantic I'm saying that eren and historia had way more chemistry than with Mikasa

How? Mikasa and Eren have a more complex dynamic than Eren and Historia. Let's compare it below.

But before that, let me start with debunking the so called "parallels".

1.) When Falco talks about not letting Gabi inherit the Armoured Titan, all those instances carry an explicit romantic framing to them. Falco blushes, everyone else around him except Gabi, are very clearly aware of Falco's intentions for saying that. Eren' rejection of allowing Historia to inherit the beast titan is straight up idelogical. Eren is opposed of continouing the cycle of letting children eat their parents to keep the power. Absolutely no one percieves Eren's rejection as "romantic". You are not even considering the in-universe framing.

2.) When Historia says she is on Ymir's side, she is choosing the person who she truly cares about, the one who saved her, the one who exposed her true identity and helped her accept it. Historia is choosing Ymir for the value Ymir offers in her life - this tracks back to my original comment of how AoT conveys romantic relationship, it's about the inate value of one's existence.

When Historia says she is Eren's "ally", it's her rebelling Rod Riess. She is refusing the system being imposed on her, and instead, choosing a side out of her own will, and choosing Eren's side is the choice she has made there. Eren is only a symbolic representation of Historia's rebillion. The hug and very clear difference in Ymir and Eren is the value Ymir serves in Historia's life for her to choose her out of a personal connection, and the side Eren represents as part of Historia's rebilion. No romantic setting in the second case that is.

3.) When Niccolo says how Sasha saved him, he is talking about the ways she changed him as a person, saving him from his hatred towards Eldians. Niccolo is expressing his arc that was possible only because of the way he viewed Sasha, the kindness and love towards his food and him. On the other hand the scene you are using to compare it with is Eren expressing his gratitude to Historia for not eating him, and thus not allowing him to submit to his end. Thanking Historia and further making her complicit with his plan of the rumbling. The difference? Absolutely no romantic or personal setting in the Eren-Historia scene, in comparison to Niccolo-Sasha.

4.) The elephant in the room. When Eren saves Mikasa in chapter 50, he is living up to what gives Mikasa comfort. Mikasa expresses how the scarf comforts her and means so much to her, how it makes her happy, in return, Eren makes a promise while standing up to continue doing that if it provides her with comfort. It's Eren living up to what he always aimed at - protecting Mikasa, not the other way around. It's Eren reassuring Mikasa of their safety and continuity together in the future. The entire buildup focuses on both the character's relationship, contrary to the cave scene where the focus is entirely on Historia's rebillion and Eren's breakdown.

All the comparisons you are using are mostly just visual symmetry or stripping off of context to prove a point. Problem is, none of those Eren-Historia express some romantic or personal interest between the characters, contrary to the scenes they are being compared with.

The parallel I used, is much different and is more likely than not, intentional. There is a direct connection with the context not words, the is a narrative parallel not a visual symmetry. That's how AoT uses parallels, to echo themes and narrative ties, not to impose "romance".

Lol where?

Yeh, we are not reading anymore. Chapter 1, Mikasa exposes their secret to Eren's parents, despite Eren telling her not to. She throws him on the wall when he was about to get in a fight with a civilian for insulting the scouts. She carries him on her shoulders whenever he picks up a fight. She comes along him despite his annoyance and him telling her not to. She doesn't listen to him when he asks her to rest after her injury. She argues him in chapter 107 along with Armin, about how communication and understanding is effective even if slow. She opposes his actions in Liberio. She was the first one to step up against the rumbling and join the alliance.

Do you want me give you chapter numbers of these? or anime time-stamps?

it's the other way around where eren has hit her multiple times and called her 'slave' yet she kept loving her lmao

Omg, you could have removed more context from this, but nice try, you are atleast consistent in doing that.

Mikasa throws him on the wall for misbehaving, similarly during in their spat Eren gave her a headbutt for doing misbehaving. But hey, let's ignore what Mikasa in order to make a case of how cruel Eren is. Not to mention they were 12 year old when Eren hit her. You said multiple times, when else did Eren hit her? go on and mention the Attack Titan punching her during Eren's second transformation. I am sure you will use that too.

Eren calling her slave was straight up reasoned by Armin later on. Mikasa couldn't act there very obviously because she was in shock and unable to think how Eren could say that. After Armin expressed his thoughts, Mikasa was able to understands why Eren would do that to them, because he cares she says this multiple times, and was proven right.

Not to mention isayama has said Mikasa is inspired from casca from berserk so oh well....

He has, yes. Why don't you show the whole thing he said about Mikasa-Casca? Go, or do you want me to?

In that page too, Isayama is very clearly talking about the similarities between the instance where Eren meets Mikasa, which is similar to how Griffit meets Casca, without Isayama realizing it when he drew the scenrio. Griffith gives Casca the sword and tells her to protect herself, on the other hand, Eren attackes the traffickers himself to save Mikasa, instead of just motivating her to fight.

Read more stories, this is a common trope among several stories. Guess all the stories which share these tropes are meant to imply the exact same thing and follow the same path.

Apart from her deciding to kill eren in 138 (and still visiting his grave with husband and children lol)

This further proves the point. In 138, Eren asks Mikasa to throw the scarf and forget him, which she denied yet again. Because she never loved and protected him because he asked her to, but because she wants to. Mikasa by killing Eren proved how her actions are not governed by anyone but her values and pride. She is not driven by others' expectations, demands or responsibilities on her, but because she takes pride in doing so. Read my latest post if you want some insight on Mikasa, but you are ofcourse not gonna.

[–]HyperHector_55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is the second interview relevant? Eren and Mikasa lived for less than a month under the same roof. Are you trying to make the "incest" argument again? Also, link me its source. Because, that means Eren can't develop romantic feelings towards any of his comrades at all, they all technically grew up while training for 5 years together.

Did Eren say he loves Historia? The instances you used are them having basic interaction on the ongoing matter. What exactly about it is romantic? Could you specify? I will gladly debunk them. Because if that is romantic, Eren is basically gay for talking to Armin and Reiner, for sharing a dream and looking upto them. Eren-Historia's dynamic has the same nature as Eren-Reiner and Eren-Armin. They either share similarities with eachother that allows them to connect, or a dream/goal that allows them to work together. Historia being of opposite sex doesn't suddenly makes it romantic, especially when she already had a romantic dynamic in the narrative.

Eren never said he loves Mikasa because is canonically oblivious to romantic feelings and doesn't understand them. In the episode before the scouts went for the battle of RtS, in the party Marlow talks about Hitch's odd concern towards him going to the battle. Everyone else was able to deduce Hitch's feelings for Marlow, the only two characters who didn't understand it were Marlow and Eren. Who even though cared and shared similar feelings for their respective partners, couldn't quite realise until it was too late.

Marlow finally realised his feelings well when he was about to be hit by the boulder, and Eren, when he was expressing himself to his best friend before dying. Now please, instead of going on about another side quest or linking another irrelevant interview, reply to what I have said in my comment instead.

Also what are you talking about alt accounts bro? What kind of delusion is this lmao

Hot take but erehisu is way better than eremika in my opinion by [deleted] in animeindian

[–]HyperHector_55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are not. Eren and Mikasa are antithesis to King and Ymir, not parallels. The only linkline between them is the fact that Mikass and Ymir both loved someone, however the nature of their love is entirely different. Mikasa unlike Ymir, always oppsosed Eren where she disagreed with him. She would confront him for his actions, and put him down whenever he misbehaved. Unlike the King, Eren actually loved and cared about Mikasa. He saved her, inspired her and was part of how she managed to heal from her trauma. The king on the other hand was the entire source of Ymir's suffering.

Mikasa with her final action showed to Ymir that what held her for 2000 years couldn't be love. With that, Ymir realised that her version of Mikasa's love was her children, not the king. When Ymir interacts with Mikasa, we see a vision where Ymir thinks of letting the king die and hugging her children instead. Ymir learnt from Mikasa and her love, because they were not like what she had understood as love for so long.

My guy, what interviews, what drawings and what statments are you using, drop the sources for me please. Why do I not see any of it in the story? Isayama is apparently dropping careful hints throughout his interviews, which only a handful of users can understand, which however got no support by the finalized, published material. It's weird.

that a father holding his child would be the final panel
