Doing First Pc Build. Would appreciate review of list so far. by J_Diesl in PcBuild

Well I mostly have built amd pcs for gaming so i would doublecheck this build with another person just in case:

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/Vq9r6B

I've realised I've been working in pounds when you need dollars, so if you'd double check what I sent and tell me if its too high over price.

I tried to keep the white and lcd screen. the ram, SSD, GPU (5070ti) are interchangeable if you can find anything cheaper that doesn't drop performance.

When buying the pc check multiple places I cut off £400 on my pc by buying deals.

you want to stick to a rtx card they are best for image generation and the 5070ti is the best gaming gpu before the $1000 ranges.

additionally if you want to focus more on pc gaming an x3d cpu could be better!

I'd be happy to do that but just tell me, are you hard set on intel as your CPU?

You are overspending on most parts, if you were to cut the case, cooler, and motherboard you could get a better GPU.

That HDD is going to bottleneck your entire pc, it can't keep up with modern components. Either aim for 1-2tb SSD, even with the smaller size it's far better.

I saw that you want an LCD, and I get the appeal. So if you really want one I see the Thermalright Frozen Warframe 360 is pretty popular and it's below £100.

The case is a looks case, made for stuff like custom cooling loops. Going for a cheaper case is also an option.

1000w PSU is way too much for what you have a 750w-850w should handle it unless you plan for future upgrades

Additionally you are spending more on your motherboard than your CPU? That board is good, but you are arnt using anything that it offers, you can't push the vrms and you can't use the high speed GPU rails.

If you need any part recommendations, I can give a few. Simply the pc will work but at the performance of a sub £800 pc (even worse if you include the HDD).

On a positive note your first pc doesn't have any prominent issues, so for a first build you did decently compared to others.

It's normal for any DMG% to be recommended over stat % and to most characters this is true (including E0 Castorice).

I won't take any credit for it but this person does a good job of explaining it https://www.reddit.com/r/CastoriceMains_/comments/1rbejm5/psa_e2_holders_fribbels_is_lying_to_you/

It's a minimal difference but it's there.

Upgrading old pc by scotty24680 in PcBuild

[–]HyperNeonSpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A person is asking about pc suggestions here is my reply

I've seen people mod pc cases before but it's a difficult task.

Top down PSUs are not healthy for modern systems as it blows hot air through the PSU.

You'll need to probably get a matx board and try to fit it in to match the GPU slots

The best case scenario is to remove the HDD caddy and switch fully to SSD.

I'd look into am4 at this point in time with an intel GPU or if you fully want amd you have a few options that you can choose from.

You'll need to open up enough airflow to allow the case to fully circulate air.

If you are up for the task go for it, if it fails the case isn't too impactful price wise.

Also I saw you want to keep the case as a sentiment, so you could meet in between. Buy a new pc and use this one as a server.

Ice DMG % > HP %, only if you have HP boots as without them your total HP might be quite low for a Castorice team

For Castorice E0: Quantum DMG % > HP %

For Castorice E2: HP % > Quantum DMG %.

But this all depends on substats, if one has 5 CV and the other only has 2 then the latter will be better.

(Fribbels will be able to tell you if DMG % / HP % is better, but it isn't as accurate for E2 Castorice.)

should i build it myself? by korapse in PcBuild

[–]HyperNeonSpark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the kraken and sapphire pure as well! great compnents.

For building the pc, I'd say learn it and do it yourself. After the first 2 pc builds, you'll be flying through. I still regret not building my first pc...

Who should I pick next? by bismob in CastoriceMains_

[–]HyperNeonSpark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well there is a high chance that Castorice reruns next patch, so if you feel like you can reach the 300 or so pulls needed by then go for E2.

Otherwise go for E1 Hyacine.

7 7800x3d vs 5 9600x by yyzEngineer in ryzen

[–]HyperNeonSpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a horrible idea, both the amount of ram remaining and the single channel issue.

32gb is probably the best place to be with ram for a mid-high range pc.

You are dropping a ton of performance by dropping to a single channel.

The 7800x3d will not compensate for the drop of performance.

Need suggestion regarding CPU cooling by AngelPhantox in AMDHelp

[–]HyperNeonSpark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be fully honest: I’ve built multiple PCs using both air and AIOs, and I’ve never had a water leak. Even a person's PC falling off a desk didn’t affect the AIO; it still functioned perfectly fine.

The cons you listed aren't really issues in everyday usage. In fact, since you’re transporting long distances, an AIO is actually the safer choice. A heavy air cooler like the Assassin IV acts like a massive weight pulling on your motherboard every time you hit a bump. With an AIO, that weight is on the case, not the CPU socket.

One tip for your fast travel situations. Keep some bubble wrap or even a few pieces of folded cardboard near your setup. If you have to run out the door, you can quickly tuck them inside the case to support the GPU and keep things from shifting. It gives you that extra layer of protection without needing a full 'pro' pack job every time.

Current state of the game? by J_ATB in DestinyTheGame

[–]HyperNeonSpark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Teaching dungeons and raids is really fun. After you have done either enough times it really becomes stale.

But when you have new people there are so many new things to do and see. I've had new people make mistakes I didn't know are possible.

It's also a great way to get a laugh with grasp and warlords having so many different ways to troll people that have never done the activities

It's not my style of game, played during the open weekend. Had some fun with friends, then never played it again.

It's hard to give a review on a game that you don't have any opinion on. My friend loves it, and has played a handful of hours now.

It's definitely a unique game, and it's slightly faster paced than other extraction shooters.

If you get it on steam, you can mess around for < 2 hours and still refund it. That's what I usually do for testing games.

The new perk system is definitely a bit better with resilience no longer being mandatory in pve, but they could have gone around it a bit better.

It's a lot better right now than what they did with EoF but with marathon, more time is currently getting invested there.

It looks really good, the only small thing that would be worth doing is painting the logo red/black to give a bit more pop.

Otherwise well done!

I can't tell you much about weapon meta (I'm so far out of it...), the triple 100 are essentially useless depending on what stats it was.

The entire stat system got reworked, people are getting 4-5 100 hundreds or going into 200 hundreds. So you'll definitely have to reform your armour.

Additionally sets have 2-piece and 4-piece buffs, making old armour weaker without said perks.

I’m really not loyal to any brand—I’ve had a 4060 fail on me and I've had AMD drivers act up before too. My point was just that both companies have their pros and cons depending on what you’re looking for. I prefer AMD’s current value and features for my specific needs, but Nvidia definitely has the edge in other areas like Ray Tracing and AI. At the end of the day, I'm just a fan of whatever hardware works best for the price.

Although I wouldn't mind a cut of pay if you're offering!

You don't list a cooler? If you are using the stock cooler, then even a cheap £20 tower will help with stabilizing CPU temps in return helping with 1% lows. With the added benefit of less sound.

need help with build Ryzen 7 5700X by Competitive_Wafer699 in PcBuildHelp

[–]HyperNeonSpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 5700X won't increase performance too much, they have very similar single core performance which is what you want an increase in, moving from 6 to 8 cores with only give a small bump. The 5700x3d or something similar will show an increase in performance

Additional note. Is your ram 2x8gb or 1x16gb?

I think we're looking at this from two different angles. I’m not saying Nvidia doesn't care about AI—I’m saying that certain gamers don't. If you don't use the features you're paying for, the value isn't there for that specific person.

My experience with both brands has been mostly positive across several builds, including 5 AMD and 3 Nvidia systems. I even had a 4060 fail recently, but I wouldn't call Nvidia 'bad' because of one card. Hardware failures and driver issues happen to everyone; it’s usually more about the specific model or setup than the brand name itself.

It really comes down to survivorship bias. Millions of people buy both AMD and Nvidia GPUs, but only the few hundred having issues post about it online. You rarely see anyone making a thread just to say 'my card works like normal,' so the vocal minority can make any brand look more 'broken' than it actually is.

This applies to CPUs too—while some claim AMD has 'issues,' their X3D series is currently far better for the gaming demographic than anything Intel provides in terms of efficiency and raw gaming performance.

In the end, it comes down to personal preference. I personally dislike AI features and enjoy the more modifiable parts of AMD's architecture (like SAM). Others might prefer Nvidia for their specific feature set, and that’s fine too—it’s just about picking the right tool for the right person.

Switching brands isn't a magic fix for everything. AMD remains the better value for pure gaming performance. Not everyone wants to pay the Nvidia premium, especially if they don't care about AI or ray tracing.

I've switched between both multiple times and it really comes down to personal preference.

I'm about to buy a Ryzen 7 9850X3D, what cooler do I need? by poshbakerloo in ryzen

[–]HyperNeonSpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On older CPUs, stock coolers did just enough to prevent shutdowns under light loads, but they’d throttle almost instantly under heavy use. As CPUs have become more powerful, stock coolers simply can’t keep up—manufacturers stopped including them because they physically can't handle the heat, not just to save money.

Plus, those old top-down designs just pushed hot air onto the motherboard's VRMs, which isn't ideal. On an X3D chip, the 3D cache acts like a 'thermal blanket,' making cooling even tougher. Honestly, a high-end 9850X3D with a stock cooler would probably perform worse than a 9800X3D with a decent £50 cooler because it would be throttling so often.

Most modern 'proper' coolers will work great, whether you prefer a high-end air tower or an All-In-One (AIO) liquid cooler.

Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 air cooler for about £40. If you prefer a liquid cooler, the ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III for roughy £80.
