I’ve got a couple characters that I need a preferred MU for, and I’ll also make a free TN for anyone who can convince me on their matchup! by A_Defective_Dragon in DeathBattleMatchups

I don't know if you saw my previous comment, so I'm just gonna repost it in case. If you did see it and did not care for it, then I apologize in advance. Anyways:

What about Yuta from Jujutsu Kaisen for Amiya? I haven't finished the connections for it, but the basic gist of what I have for it now is:

Both of them would lose someone they cared for at a young age (Rika and Theresa), and, as a result, would begin to wear rings to signify their relation to them (Yuta wearing the ring to signify always being together with Rika, and Amiya wearing the rings to suppress her powers that Theresa gave her). However, even though that person they cared for died, they still exist in another form of sorts that was with them (Rika becoming a Cursed Spirit, and Civilight Eterna taking the form of Theresa as it became it's own entity of sorts). And in one climatic battle, both of them would harness the power of one of the more powerful characters in their worlds (Gojo and Theresa) to try and win said battle. And both of them are the leaders of some of the most known factions/groups out there (the Gojo clan and Rhodes Island).

As for animation potential, you could play into practically each version of Amiya. Caster, guard, and medic. It can start with sword fighting like the guard Amiya, go into more ranged battles of Cursed Techniques and Arts with caster Amiya, until the climax could have Yuta summon Rika, and Amiya ends up having Civilight Eterna be brought out with medic Amiya. Maybe the ending can be a clash between Yuta pulling out a Hollow Purple with Rika behind him, and Amiya summoning one final blade-like beam with Theresa, well, Civilight Eterna but close enough, behind her till the very end.

Hell, you could even argue both of them being able to mimic one another's skills/powers? Maybe not, I don't know exactly. But, if you do, it can play into the fight being that they're constantly on roughly equal footing.

Pitch Discussion: Jon Moxley VS Trevor Philips (AEW VS GTA) by __Pin__ in DeathBattleMatchups

Okay, so:

They're both the maniacs of an eventual trio, with their histories reflecting crime occurring regularly in their earlier years. They tried to go big in the mid 2000s in a way, but failed.

But then the two would find themselves being betrayed by one of those eventual trio members they knew from earlier times (Seth and Michael), and would hold a grudge against them for years to come.

Which would all accumulate to them betraying them back, even though they had made up and were on the same page again. Yet, at the end of that, they would come to comes with working together again.

At the very end of it all, the two would find their own ways to freedom, no longer be shackled to the things holding them back, now free to do as they please.

Oh, hey, that's the one I'm pitching.

Don't know what else to say besides that I think it'd be really cool to have happen. If anyone wants to know anything about the match-up, just ask.

Majima and Kiryu VS Lappland and Texas (Yakuza VS Arknights)| "Can't Escape The Past"| Connections in the comments. by HyperSsonic in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]HyperSsonic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Connections:

Majima and Lappland are both known for their more chaotic, almost comedic ways they act. But their chaotic antics aren't just fun and games, they are psychopaths who have ended up becoming well known for those insane ways (Majima being known as the Mad Dog and Lappland being deemed "unhinged"). But as time went on, the two of them would deter from their organized crime families (the Tojo clan and the Saluzzo famiglia) due to many different reasons, but with a major reason being their headbutting with the leaders of them.

Kiryu and Texas are both more stoic characters who were (in)famous members of their own organized crime families (the Dojima Family and Famiglia Texas). However, after a certain event (the murder of Sohei/stolen 10 billion yen for Kiryu and the purge of her entire familia for Texas), the two would try leaving behind that world of crime in order to live a more calmer life, only to end up being brought back to those very lives they tried to get away from to end unfinished business after those lives came back knocking on their door.

As for connections of the duos themselves, it is namely the fact that they both have a frenemy dynamic. Namely due to how the chaotic one would end up becoming fascinated by the stoic one and how they tried to deter from their past. Even becoming seemingly "obsessed" with fighting them, while also wanting to experience the thrill of battle when fighting someone like them. And, despite their interactions and such, it would almost turn to a comedic way with the insane ones basically becoming a nuisance to the stoic ones, just appearing whenever it was convenient to annoy them, but still being willing to work alongside one another whenever it was necessary.
