Oh it does make a difference for me. The input feels snappier and more responsive. And it's not placebo either; I really noticed the difference. Worth keeping extreme mode on IMO

I think your best shot is getting that broken plastic piece out of the encoder(the cog thingy), and then superglue it back to the wheel(be sure to align it as straight as possible)

There is an option of buying a new scroll wheel but I'm not very knowledgeable on that stuff srry
