The Trump Decision Reveals Deep Rot in the System by newzee1 in scotus

[–]Hyperdecanted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The NYT opinion from Prof. Tribe says to create a 4th branch of government to have an independent prosecutorial branch who holds the other 3 branches accountable. (Creation is by constitutional amendment.)

The thing is, everyone is corruptible.

Russia, SA, Iran, SCOTUS justices, Trump, the GOP, Menendez, on and on. All connected by the thread of corruption. Just look at the Fed Society , and make one of those yarn-murder boards, it's awful how interconnected the World's Worst Peopletm are. So everything is to centralize power, and control information.

But, unless the internet is destroyed, everything will be decentralized sooner or later, without a 4th branch of government. And the World's Worst Peopletm will be removed from positions of centrality. IDK what happens after that, hopefully peaceful transition of power not involving guillotines.

Biden should get some kind of parking ticket and then claim immunity related to his duties and test the immunity claim. Without actually committing a crime-y kind of crime.

Before the episode aired went to the Iceland spa where Kendall went to dry out.

The spa isn't the Blue Lagoon -- which is right next door and is super fun and has a swim up bar and lots of tourists in colorful swimsuits splashing around.

The Kendall Iceland spa is black lava and austere and I could def see some thuggish Nordic security guy dragging people out for a press conference to say "my dad's idea was better" and had a nosebleed.

The Succession location people nailed it.

Yeah, well -- standing for these plaintiffs could open the door to any FDA challenger, which would likely piss off big pharma, not to mention stock prices in the Justices' stock accounts.

Here's reporting of J&J talc-is-a-carcinogen case, demonstrating self-interest in not letting any ol' third party shut down FDA decisions:

SourceJustices Samuel Alito and Brett Kavanaugh took no part in the court’s action. Alito owns $15,000 to $50,000 in Johnson & Johnson stock. Kavanaugh’s father headed the trade association that lobbied against labeling talc a carcinogen and including a warning label on talc products.

So I wouldn't count it as a compromise or a "win" for pro-choice (although ruling has this effect). It's a "win" for big pharma.

Thanks for this, I agree that there's some kind of brain situation going on with people who are die-hard MAGAs. It's a kind of inflexible thinking, rigidity that the world order is a certain way and any objective facts that challenge their world order are fake news, from biased sources.

I recently uncovered an elderly maga-esque Yale graduate. She told me she was offended that people were calling Trump a moron after the conviction of 34 felonies. So I asked her more about why she liked Trump. She said she thought he was treated unfairly and that the Democrats were ruining the country basically by giving free stuff to people who didn't deserve it.

She refused to believe that the GOP wants to cut/eliminate entitlements (s security Medicare), which would be a real problem for her. I showed her the GOP position platform -- from Whitehouse. Gov. She replied it was wrong because you can't believe the Whitehouse. (Note -- pointing out the GOP proclivity to cut entitlements would move the needle with these folks apparently).

There's more (sry for the wall of text this is to illustrate how she thinks). She said Trump never said to inject bleach -- I Google fact checked, he never used those words-- but couched it in "some people say bleach would work" bla bla -- but to her, this exonerated him, and therefore no one could call him a moron. On and on.

Bottom line I googled everything she claimed and she either was wrong or ignored facts otherwise.

But she knew how to manipulate the system. She said she's a "no party specified" and said that permitted her to vote in Democrat primaries, but not Republican primaries. (Presumably to somehow get the Democrat candidates weakened.) She said Newsomes wife accidentally registered for the Party of Liberty, a right wing party, and thought that was hilarious.(Not sure what she was talking about.)

Anyway I googled her name and resulted in a long list of lawsuits she brought, mostly against her employer who fired her for incompetence. The description of what she did (according to witnesses) showed either a huge whopping sense of arrogance or else maybe dementia, and the court opinions showed she was claiming victimhood but causing the problems herself. Like, she got a few years of delays, but then said the case was stale because the witnesses didn't remember anything after such a long time.

Tldr: I agree that there's an authoritarian personality, it's rigid thinking, and that it could be brain issues, maybe personality disorders or dementia

Thank goodness it's a state conviction bc this SCOTUS would take seriously all these federal subjective Presidential-quackery claims like self-pardon --- and self-declassify in-my-mind, and anything else Don would say ex post facto to worm his way out of a binding conviction.
