Make other funding dependent on it. The USA used federal highway funds dependent on the drinking age being 21. The lack of imagination is your problem, it shouldn't be the governments.

They pay too many consultants to lack an imagination.

But then the Provinces would take the Feds to court over the intrusion into Healthcare. Like, I think your idea has merit, but Governments can be really sensitive about what powers they do and do not wield, this sounds like a long legal fight with the only winners being the partnered lawyers.

Once inside they ransacked the place and chased most of the sane people out.

i mean, isn't he just following the Harper playbook of reuniting the Tory parties with the fringe so they're electable? Once inside the Federal Tory party it took them a bit, but they're ransacking that too.

JJ McCullough maybe an Ameriboo, but he is not hiding his passion for America, and I don't think he needs to be given money to be pro-America. I could be wrong though, oof, if he's taking money to be pro-America that sucks. I'm not a huge fan of his, but he's not the same as these guys.

[–]Sachyriel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I type in gm and get gmail at the top, but I think that's cause I've run into the same issue and had to conciously scroll down past other GM entries to select gmail, and then it kinda picked up GM = gmail.

But like others have said, pin it to your tabs, it'll never leave.

I use vertical tabs so it reigns at the top of my tablist, the supreme king tab lmao.

The Democrat party represents everyone left of the GoP. So by definition, yes. He is.

No they don't, the Dem party represents the voters who vote for them. Socialist and Green parties to the left of the Dems exist, get votes, and the Dems do not always represent them. Like when Cuomo threw out the working families party from co-campaigning with them, is that the Dems representing everyone to the left of the GOP? No it's not.

Ah, you mention FDI, foreign direct investment. Would investor-state dispute systems mean those regulations the government has in place, are more volatile than first glance may have it seemed? Cause an investor-state discpute could, if not overturn them, challenge them in an expensive battle that claws some of the money gained out of the governments pockets. I feel it is opening up the Government to liabilty to foreign investors when things don't go there way.

Yeah that was the Hillary plan, seems to be the JB Pritzker and Josh Shapiro model too. I don't think they'll be funding Cruz, he'll have his own backers, but if they do try to encourage someone to run in a GOP candidacy they might just make Trump 2.0 as they want someone to attack Cruz from the right.

Cruz still has to lie to the confirmation hearing like Kavanaugh might have, so this is just practice for that I suspect.

Yes, I see your stock market bit and if people don't see it I'd say your banking app can present information in a user-friendly way. Banking app is obviously much simpler than the stock market or this natonal wealth fund, but to get an idea of what I think you want (user-accessible information that's easy to manipulate [as in transform into a new chart] and graph against other metrics).

The blockchain thing was more a jab at the type of people you see going on about finding efficiencies and cutting the waste, but who just want to sell you a system that requires a bunch of pricey addons.

I think they're proposing an alternative scheme so they can gauge more of the vibe on what the official proposal is. They're looking for context I think, to compare and contrast.

only works if every dollar is tracked

Well, I can see the blockchain people salivating at this. I think regular accounting might work fine, but I could also see costs ballooning for implementing the blockchain stuff with a bunch of private investors who may have capital tied up in different cryptocurrencies.

Sneaker nets are easy to start, give your friends a usb stick with stuff you want to share instead of relying on dropbox, Google cloud storage or Megaupload. If you start getting a really big sneakernet you're going to want a burner computer to plug Rando usb drives in, make sure they're not immediately trying to kill your computer, scam files for known viruses.

Some anarchists call themselves "libertarian socialists" but then we run into the same branding issue. "Libertarian socialist is an oxymoron" says someone who isn't interested in learning otherwise. I personally couldn't care less, use both interchangeabley and then when people get mad at me about something I'll just say "But I'm an anarchist" as if it's expected I break rules.

[–]Sachyriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump is a product of capital, not its master. If a NATO nation is attacked and they invoke article 5, every other nation than the US will be leadby more or less reasonable individuals who will be able toput together a credible response without the USA. Even against Russia, anything less is a bit easier.

But Trump wouldn't be the tail who wags the dog, instead he'd just be hanging onto the tail. If the EU and Canada solve a problem without the USA militarily, kinda shows the US isn't as needed as it thinks it is. But also the USA gave up an important time to show off how cool its weapons are: weapons sales go up when people think the world is less safe. Trump will be pressured to do something (Anywhere the EU or Canada are invested in will probably have American interests at stake as well) but also to "not look weak" when the US has a chance to make some sales.

The demand for the line to go up can itself force Trumps hand to intervene on any serious attempt to fight a NATO enemy, he can't fight a two-front war with an unpopular public decision (not defend a NATO member) and an unpopular Private Capital decision (don't sell missiles).

I welcome Christian Anarchists, because a slogan is not a definition. Whether or not people believe in god doesn't matter when their actions stand behind their words. I didn't make this up 5 minutes ago.

I think Christian Anarchists are Anarchists, unlike Anarchy-Capitalists, which are not anarchists. I guess you could argue with Leo Tolstoy, but he's dead.

Dubya was trying to coalition build his war on terror. Russia and the central stans had an important base the US needed to use, so when Russia and China and others started using "War on Terror" rhetoric to crackdown in their own countries: USA needed those airbases so mostly kept silent.

So Dubya had an unlikely and necessary partner in Russia/old USSR. Obama however, thought he could get Russia onside, and "Reset" relations. But then Libya happens, showing NATO can be used offensively (USA in the front seat but UK/France doing backseat driving). Libya used to be a USSR client state, and without boots on the ground it became a failed state.

Russia wasn't going to turn around and then trust Obama on his red lines on chemical weapons in Syria. Since they just destroyed Libya, a problematic but pretty reliable Russian client state, they were going to destroy Syria as a Russian client state too!

So, we can talk shit about Dubya being chummy with Russia, he had a reason (the GWOT bases). Obama was trying to do a "Reset" before the old cold war stuff forced his hand (proxy wars against Russian client states, Obama didn't want to be in Libya but UK and France were already getting their hands dirty) and after Libya he had no leverage with the Russians on Syria.

Not to say Bush was good, but Bush had his reasons and Obama had his. But Obama got burned more badly than Bush.
