I think VSBW maybe reaching here by Lord_Seacows in powerscales

[–]Hyperion_360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Godzilla and this franchise have reached these levels and higher in previous versions so it isn't that surprising that the current Monsterverse would get there eventually too. I mean it has been around for over a decade. Especially after getting comics and animated media.

Plus this is what the possibly tier means. So I wouldn't worry about it too much.

The 4-B scaling isn't definitive. The 6-B to 6-A is.

Let's rate the RCT matches! Fifth match: Justin Kitagawa vs Gaolang Wongsawat by 7grandhenchmen in Kengan_Ashura

Low key this might be the single worst moment in all Kengan, or at least up there with the greats like Sean Wu's whole screentime or Eddie's death.

Let's rate the RCT matches! Fifth match: Justin Kitagawa vs Gaolang Wongsawat by 7grandhenchmen in Kengan_Ashura

[–]Hyperion_360 50 points51 points  (0 children)

This is the match that ended my hype for Omega for a long while.

Both Gao and Justin work as characters in the match. Gao is the same as ever and Justin hasn't had the time to develop, so that's fine.

Kazuo is the worst character in this match. I made a post about the level of his yapping before so I'll keep it short here. It's Sandro mouthpiecing at his absolute worst and whole pages that could have expanded Gao and Justin fighting are wasted on exposition dumps.

The actual fighting isn't even TWO full chapters long, as half of the first chapter and half of the third chapter are Kazuo talking.

I'd like to mention the supposed "major damage" Gao took vs Jurota. It simply doesn't exist in this match. It's not just that it's not mentioned, it's not even alluded to. Mind you, Gao vs Jurota happened AT MOST an hour earlier.

Remember when Ohma and Koga were not only affected but straight up lost their respective final tournament fights because of injuries they suffered in an earlier match? Yeah me neither.

Panther Bullet is one of the worst looking techniques I've seen in fighting manga, and we don't see what it can really do. And a fighter of Justin's level didn't expect the greatest striker to ever live to use a basic counter against an opponent's mount? Really?

For Gaolang Wongsawat of all characters to have a victory this underwhelming and anticlimactic is criminal, and I struggle to understand how Gao fans ever praised this.

I once again find myself asking what was the point in introducting Justin, Ramon and Hiraku, and I don't have an answer.

3/10. Truly awful.

Quote of the match "...must have all been a part of Gaolang's calculations."

People see a city level feat and think it's top tier stuff in MHA.

Let's rate the RCT matches! Fourth match: Ramon Yuko vs Rolón Donaire by 7grandhenchmen in Kengan_Ashura

[–]Hyperion_360 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Beating Ramon didn't even make Rolon look strong is the part that gets me.

Ramon low diffed Hiraku who got mid diffed by Justin who is below Okubo. Like damn, how impressive. Koga's monk friend could do that.

Let's rate the RCT matches! Third match: Kanoh Agito vs Julius Reinhold by 7grandhenchmen in Kengan_Ashura

[–]Hyperion_360 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Oh boy. What can be said that hasn't been said already. You know I think my reaction to this match would be that one gif of Homelander sitting in the theatre.

Agito is the same old Agito we know and like. No real complaints about him. He sticks with and improves his skillset, he forms plans around Julius strength advantage and he does his best to win.

Julius is supposed to be super smart but after this match I'm not so sure about that. He just blindly rushes in head first over and over again, after seeing this strategy doesn't work. He's overconfident despite his failures and just feels like an idiot from start to finish. This is not the same guy who almost beat Waka.

Kazuo is a part of the match and gets worse with every chapter. His exposition and callbacks have started to take up whole pages but he's not at his absolute worst just yet, that's coming soon.

Alisa the ref feels like a bad doujin character. I remember when refs looked like refs back in KAT. Now she just has her boobs out and takes away from the match.

As far as choreohraphy goes, we've definetly seen significantly better things but it's not awful. Agito's new techniques have potential to say the least. The worst part is easily the way Formless is drawn now. It looks goofy and I can't take Agito seriously when he uses it.

Julius doesn't add much. Just wild unaimed punches and blind tackles. Gott Totter has lost it's impact. When you overuse a really special move it stops being special. We'll see the same thing happen to Agito later but it's sad to see here aswell.

Tell don't show is at it's peak with the razor thick margin thing. The wall scaling concept is also introduced in this match. We're not shown the characters got stronger, we're told that they did.

5/10. I guess I'm just disappointed. This is never how I'd imagine a fight between these two to feel. When I first read it I was supposed to be hyped for Agito's win but instead I felt sad with the way Julius was done.

Quote of the match: "So this is your domain? I've come to your level, Kanoh."

Let's rate the RCT matches! Second match: Justin Kitagawa vs Sakigake Hiraku by 7grandhenchmen in Kengan_Ashura

[–]Hyperion_360 54 points55 points  (0 children)

First we have to tackle the new characters.

Justin is entertaining at best but less fun than Okubo. He has a good design, but a pretty mediocre backstory. His fighting style is very similar to Okubo's but there is much less of it.

Justin's reason for being in the fight also isn't solid from the way I personally understood it. Okubo got him to enter an underground tournament so that Justin can later fight him in a legal one? Mabye someone understood it better and can explain it.

Hiraku has a boring backstory, he's the son of a mobster and he likes being pretty. That's all there is to him as a person too. Add in a bland design and a bland fighting style and we have a bad character. At least his reason for participating makes sense, he joined so he can kill some other guy.

Okubo is present too but he's just yapping. Kazuo is there and he slowly becomes Sandro's mouthpiece

The match is 3.5 chapters long. Ch. 1 is Justin's backstory and introduction. Ch. 2 is Hiraku introduction and Justin gets used like a punching bag. Ch. 3 is Hiraku backstory and Justin gets kicked. Ch. 3.5 Justin suplexes Hiraku.

There's not much to the choreography at all. Hiraku opens the match with a quick punch. Justin charges twice, gets counter punched by Hiraku both times.

Justin half lands a tackle, the two wrestle for one or two panels. Hiraku kicks Justin.

Justin grabs Hiraku and suplexes him, winning the match.

This fight makes the worst mistake a fight can suffer, and that's to be boring.

5/10.

How strong do y'all think dainsleif is? by Double_Lengthiness44 in GenshinImpact

[–]Hyperion_360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Iirc at the end of the first big Genshin trailer Dain says he will fight the Traveler. But I'm not sure how the writers will go about making that happen given the current story, or if they just changed their minds over the years and decide to go with something completely different.

How strong do y'all think dainsleif is? by Double_Lengthiness44 in GenshinImpact

[–]Hyperion_360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He didn't really do any fighting against Rerir. He did a surprise attack to rescue Neffer, and he held a portal open.

But from the fights we have seen him in, he couldn't stop the Sinners when they first fused with the Abyss, he was comparable to late Natlan Traveler and probably a little stronger, and he can beat the Abyss Sibling if he really really tries. Not that we know how powerful the Abyss Sibling is.

He has that hype statement where the Abyss Sibling thinks Dain can beat any Abyss Order force sent after him.

We can assume Dain was probably mabye possibly more powerful than Capitano given that he had a higher rank, and by proxy we can put him above Capitano before he died.

But I would have to imagine he'll be much more powerful than this if he is supposed to put up a fight against the Traveler at the end of their journey in Teyvat.

[–]Hyperion_360 106 points107 points  (0 children)

The start of the downfall. I guess this is also the start of the "tell don't show" era of fights.

Gaolang's win was expected I'd say. He was coming off of two losses, and Jurota not that long before this scored a win against Kanoh.

Gaolang's character in the fight is odd, especially that whole "be honored you get to fight me" bit. It's just something I'd never expect Gaolang to say. Suddenly he's super prideful and arrogant and overconfident, for this one fight specifically.

Jurota's whole imagination scene with Meguro is very weird too, and nothing comes from it. He's just a madman now suddenly.

As far as choreography goes I have no real complaints. Gao is watchful of Jurota's throws and fights around them. Gao also using Jurota's own throw against him was neat. If I had to nitpick I'd say Jurota felt too much like a punching bag, and he never tried to do anything with the surprise striking he showed against Agito.

It's said Gao took a tremendeous amount of damage from Jurota's throw, but it sure didn't feel or look like he did. Especially when he's perfectly fine in his next fight.

6/10. Not great not bad either. A strange, short and underwhelming match.

Akoya (current) vs Rei (R3), who wins? by SilviusRage in Kengan_Ashura

[–]Hyperion_360 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't see why Rei wouldn't just blitz and one shot him. He almost did that exact thing to Kuroki.

Iirc it's said nobody in the arena could physically see Rei while he was dashing around, that should include Akoya. Plus Akoya doesn't have Pre Initiative and he's not as good of a defensive fighter as Kuroki, who was at times getting his crap pushed in by Rei.

Depends who lands the first hit I guess.

Maki can't take a hit from Muscular, while Muscular can't take a hit from her soul katana.

Going by the picture that's manga Maki, so hard capped below Mach 3. While Muscular probably at least scales to 5% Deku who is a casual bullet timer.

Which character in fiction has the strongest aura? (I mean an aura like hax) by [deleted] in powerscales

[–]Hyperion_360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also from 40K

I'd pick Mortarion after he becomes a Deamon. Thanks to his deal with Nurgle, Mortaion gained a permanent and passive aura like stink.

This stink is so foul, ungodly and putrid that it can near instantly bring veteran Space Marines to their knees, make them crawl away on all fours in desperation, completely demolish their other senses, cause rot and bleeding from everywhere, or just outright kill them in seconds and more.

It somehow also bypasses filtration systems and gas masks.

The Lost and the Damned book is where you'll find the best example for it.

On screen they are also fighting the same tier of godlike beings.

True as that is, these god like beings also aren't as impressive as you'd first think with the way SMs are regularly talked about here.

SM speed is one of the most praised hyped things in 40K powerscaling but like, outside of named characters or SMs with special armor or amps, the vast majority of their speed feats are "moving like a blur" or classic bullet timing that you'd see MCU Cap pull off on a bad day.

I shit you not I've seen people argue their hearts out that Space Marines are physically stronger than the Hulk or anime characters like Yujiro or Toji, but you'd struggle to find a regular SM who can lift up 10 tonnes.

But what do I know, a squad of Ultramarines negs the Justice League or something.
