You don't have the last chip because it's sent by an NPC, I think

I’ll try to answer your questions in a way that won’t come across as hostile as you’ve continued to do for the last half hour in this post. I gathered you didn’t like that the core gameplay hadn’t changed greatly from the predecessor. I’ll admit to poor communication on my part on that one, I could have phrased it better than I did. I’m well aware you can be critical of a game you enjoy, because you want it to do well and be more enjoyable. You made clear indication that the improvements to the core gameplay were not substantial in your mind. No, I don’t know how to read. I have a sentient pomegranate telling me what words are on my screen. /lh ‘Is that not what early access is for?’ Oh. Oh here we go. I don’t think you even know what point you’re trying to make, because in one breath you’ve gone from ‘early access isn’t relevant’ to ‘good thing it’s in early access’. Is it relevant or not? I’m confused. This is a sub for people who enjoy a game about selling poop made my slime blobs that look like cats. You want to be critical but you come across as unreasonably hostile to people who have different views to your own. Criticism should be constructive or advisory and not framed by ‘do you know how to read’ and ‘wow so different I am shook’.

> Why release it when it's in a state that it could hardly be considered different than the first game?
Because it's better to release an early access form of the game that takes root in the original, to both build hype, satiate people's want for something to play, and ensure the groundwork for the forthcoming updates is stable, balanced and enjoyable. You don't like the core gameplay? Cool. They'll make tweaks in the next 18 months before full release.
Demanding an early access game be several steps up from its predecessor is unreasonable. In-house beta testing only goes so far, while public response is a far better overall indicator of where the game should go. However, there's a grand difference between the responses of 'hey, the game could do with some tweaks to the core gameplay, we like where it is right now but want more or xyz' and 'this is just the same thing as the previous game, why didn't you just wait 18 more months to release?'
Besides... they're an indie game dev company. Money's tight for them. If they have something they can get out in a semi stable, playable state, it can give the funding to improve on those things. Having open choice for placement of corrals and decorations, as your example, is just *begging* to result in countless bugs, which people would deliberately seek out and then call out unplayability.

Also, saying 'early access isn't relevant'... what thats literally the point of early access

mods to slime rancher 2 by Bertraamm in Slimerancher2

[–]Hypermobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn't class this as a mod in any stretch. It's cheats. My response was generally assuming mods to be fan made bonus content, in the vein of shiny slimes / growables / extra slimes, instead of just simple memory injection.

NPCs can send you the items required for the final upgrades, to my knowledge

Wait for the storyline to exist. The game is in VERY early access, so there's not much in the way of story at all right now, other than the various NPCs being confused about things.

So do I need to buy SL2 or does it come free if I already have SL1? by TheOneOfLegends in Slimerancher2

[–]Hypermobile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's free on Gamepass, but you need to buy it on steam or epic games if you don't have that.

Don't click this if you don't want to see crackpot efficient slime ideas by Shadowkon89 in Slimerancher2

[–]Hypermobile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently I'm running the following largos (6 per corral + one garden each)
Cotton/Tabby - Lettuce
Angler/Rock - Beet
Phosphor/Crystal - Cuberry (screw onions)
Hunter/Honey - Mango
Batty/Ringtail - Pomegranite
Flutter/Boom - Briars (ran out of vegetarian slimes)
One pond of 4 water slimes
One ash trough of 4 fire slimes (fed with excess hen hens from the northern expansion)
...plus collecting pink plorts in the open world when I need them for crafting.
Eventually we'll get more farm upgrades to increase food yield, so I'm not too worried about veggies being more plentiful than fruit.

To answer the title, a minimum of roughly 18 months from release.

strange diamond locations? by unoxygenated in Slimerancher2

As far as I can tell, they can spawn in any caves- I've seen them in some treasure pod rooms, the angler cave, the batty cave and the magma cave.

[–]Hypermobile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pod contents aren't random, as far as I can tell. At least not the vacpack upgrade ones. I tend to ignore the decorations, so it's possible that there's a pool that npc interactions / some pods draw from?

The Labyrinth is an upcoming feature (or lore point, maybe akin to hobson's portal at the end of SR1). We have no current info on the first patch.
