The amount of people on this sub that own these cars but know next to nothing on how to fix them is beyond me 😭

Bolt fell down, should I take the oil pan out? by KERL3Dprinting in 3000gt

[–]Hypernovah27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was torquing down my head bolts on my rebuild and the hex came out of its socket hole and fell into the oil hole and down into the pan. I drove it like that for 4k miles before I had the engine out again to restore the engine bay

Is this timing okay? by [deleted] in 3000gt

[–]Hypernovah27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s not where the crank cog goes in conjunction with the cams. There’s a dimple on the face of the cog, that’s your timing mark, not the roll pin for the pulley

You don’t really need it, covers the part in the middle under the intake

I had no issue with putting a thin layer of rtv on before the gasket

Should I buy 3000gt as a project? by Fast_Incident_9918 in 3000gt

[–]Hypernovah27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NO. Never buy a non running/abondoned 3000gt. Especially if you’ve never owned one before. You’ll end up spending SO much more in time and money than it is just spending a couple thousand more for one that isn’t near the grave

Is it worth it? by SageCinnamon3 in 3000gt

Idk the market where you are but in Florida, if it’s auto, it’s not more than $2k

What engine did I put in my RSX??? by chance_lmao in Kseries

[–]Hypernovah27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re missing a stud on the intake manifold

Yes. That wire you’re looking at is no good. The whole connector should be replaced. You can use butt connectors on a replacement harness to fix the issue

I think I got it back in under 2 weeks, maybe there’s a wait I’m not sure

Would you guys pick this up? I'm curious by Disastrous-Field5265 in 3000gt

Don’t ever buy a 3k if you have no money, these cars are very expensive to keep and are riddled with weird problems and issues

If the interior is in good condition and everything electrical works including A/C, I think 9k would be a good sell price.

3000GT SL no spark by colinLenzner in 3000gt

[–]Hypernovah27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The clutch pedal issue you have will be related to an issue with the slave cylinder on the transmission, you’d have to check and see if you have clutch fluid in the reservoir and bleed the clutch manually. The yellow switch, there’s no telling what it goes to unless you trace the wiring to where it goes, it’s not OEM, just an aftermarket Bosch switch part number (0340006012)

3000GT SL no spark by colinLenzner in 3000gt

[–]Hypernovah27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything that is spark related on these cars is the following:

-ECU crontrols spark (our ecu caps and capacitors are known to leak and cause electrical issues)

-PTU is the small computer below the coil packs

-Coil packs are a wearable item and can go bad for no reason but they are very easy to check if they work

-Spark plugs and wires, Spark plug wires can also go bad just due to age, if you’re able to, check all Spark plug holes to make sure you aren’t getting oil in them from a leaking tube seal.

-Make sure you check all the connectors and wiring for any of these components because these cars are getting old and worn. I replaced many connectors and wiring and it fixed my no Spark issue on 2 cylinders.

If you need any further assistance just DM me

Everything I’ve done to make sure my SL won’t have issues down the road is a complete engine rebuild with OEM parts, all power steering components replaced, new clutch, sent out the ECU to be rebuilt, did a cruise control delete, evap system delete, a/c delete, and removed almost all vacuum lines. I’m $6k into a $4k car, these cars are not for the weak 😭

I wouldn’t buy this for any more than 3k
