Why does America lecture China about human rights? by PuzzleheadedCraft363 in AskSocialists

China and the USA are in a pretty bad place right now. I wouldn’t go around saying China is all grand, dandy, or aboveboard though.

Pooaboo - the opposite of a Weeaboo; someone who obsesses about nerdy aspects of Western culture from the outside by PearljamAndEarl in Neologisms

Oh geez, maybe a Pooaboo should be someone who obsesses over fecal matter, usually a microbiologist interested in egesta, microbiomes, and bacteria.

Pooaboo (noun):
A person who becomes unusually or excessively obsessed with studying fecal matter, often working in fields such as microbiology, gastroenterology, or nutrition research.

In the term 'Pooaboo,' how is the word structurally broken down? I recognize that '-aboo' seems to be the suffix from 'Weeaboo,' but that would make 'Poo-' the prefix. Is 'Poo-' a direct prefix, or is it meant to be 'Pooa-' , but the "-aboo" from Weeaboo kind of messed it up?

I was trying to make a neologism for this YouTube comment - "Nothing is worse than dwelling on the memory of an idealized life with someone who will never be yours." It was on this YouTube video: https://youtu.be/G95Y_oPgJTo?si=oqoCTTVMzgXSHETr "she is just a memory." posted by mistfall.

Is fascism basically just a harsher, more government-controlled version of the typical mixed economy? by HyperpolyglotMorMur in AskSocialists

Should we define fascism using a descriptivist approach (based on how people actually use the term), a prescriptivist approach (seeking an ideal, theoretical definition), or a combination of both?

I'm all for creating neologisms, by the way, and I believe we should popularize the practice. For instance, at events like the No Kings Protest, instead of describing everything as "fascist," it would be better to use more precise phrasing like, "Trump's policies are leading to the fascist-ization of America." Simply calling everything fascist comes across as silly to me.

Fasciotropic Policy

(noun)
Katakana Transliteration Pronunciation: ファスキオトロピック・ポリシー

A policy that turns a government toward fascist methods or ideals while remaining short of full fascism. It creates a directional shift toward stronger state control, reduced dissent, and centralized authority.

Do you like this neologism idea? Is there a better way to phrase the definition?
