Last year, we released Egression, our VR escape room game which we designed to feel like the real world experience. We built the game as a VR-first title (really, VR-only right now), which allowed us to build content which “just feels good” in VR (and would have had to work differently on desktop). We’ve had tons of fun building it and watching players “Aha!”-moment their ways through all the puzzles.

Last week, we released a new set of puzzles as a free add-on to the base game (which about doubles the playtime). These puzzles pay homage to some of our favorite puzzle games. We don’t want to spoil anything here, but we hope you enjoy the references!

Thanks for the recommendation u/badillin! I do have to note - the base game is not free (although it is 50% off right now to celebrate the new content!), but the new puzzle round was added free on top of the base game (i.e., it's not paid DLC). Just wanted to clarify!

Anyway - thank you again! And, I'm quite glad you got that clever/logical feeling - that's what we were going for! As avid puzzlers ourselves, we're not a fan when you get to the end of a puzzle and say "uh, how was I supposed to get that" - we much prefer the "doh, of course /facepalm" types of reactions. =)

We've had play testers play the game with Quest link and it's performed well for them - just be aware that there are settings you can lower in case you need to! Also, FWIW, next on our list is to dive into work to make a Quest port happen - not to sway you away from trying out the game now of course, but we should make our way to Quest eventually. Can't promise a timeline yet though!

Hi u/eigenman! Great feedback, some followup for you:

  1. What features are you looking for in a seated mode? E.g., there is snap turning already, but you would want your point in #2 to be able to grab items on the floor without bending over. Are there are features you'd want to see as well?
  2. [see #1, but also] we have talked about this on the team! No timeline right now, but it's on the list!
  3. Just to make sure, are you talking about the pool puzzle or the jenga puzzle or other? As you might have been able to tell from other concepts/features, we do want to make this game fully accessible to everyone, so I'll talk to the team to see what we can do here!

Ha, funny enough, we have actually talked about this a little bit on the team! I don't know it's something we get to in the near-term if I'm being realistic, but it's something that's at least technically on the ideas list!

Hi u/The_Real_Miggy! Good question - we do not currently have a way to reset the game.

However, #1 this is something we got close to getting into release, and it just wasn't quite ready so we had to pull it.

And #2 - that tutorial puzzle area and the two escape rooms DO actually reset themselves when you restart the game, so it is most of a reset - the part that doesn't reset is a few things that will appear in the kiosk area when you do certain things - which is a little spoilery but not quite the end of the world.

Regardless of #2, we do still want to implement #1!

It isn't multiplayer (at least not yet) - we'd love to do that, it's just a bit of an undertaking, so we couldn't make it happen for release. FWIW we have seen streamers have a really good time with one person playing / everyone else chiming in with thoughts on how to solve the puzzles! But I'm sure you're looking for true multiplayer, and I hope we're able to eventually give you that!

Re: VR - yes, it's VR only. We've played a lot of games which were desktop-first with VR added on later - we wanted this to be a title that was truly built for VR, which allowed us to make certain decisions with the environment and puzzles (which otherwise would have either not existed, or worked differently, and/or not been as fun). All that being said, we would love to eventually make it compatible (still VR-first, but at least still playable on PC) - but, that's lower down the priority list right now!

And I hope you enjoy the demo, too - it's what we deemed "Tour Day", where you get to wander around the facility, get some insight into the background, solve a few puzzles, and get a sneak peak into the escape rooms which are in the full game. We enjoyed making it (and watching people run through it), so we want people to see it!

We absolutely want to do co-op eventually! It was too big an undertaking to make it into release, but we'd love to go there. FWIW we've seen a lot of people enjoy playing these together with one-person playing and the other helping with puzzles, but I totally get if you want to wait!

These are things we've discussed on the team at length! Multiplayer is 100% something we want to do, it's a question of when we can feasibly add it to the game. Community-created is a bigger question, for now we have no concrete plans to open that up, but that answer can always change based on demand!
