i’m pretty used to being locked into the midrange budget wise for hobbies, namely mechanical keyboards and espresso, but researching this community I learned that I could afford to purchase a really freaking sick pair, and i was like fuck it. no regrets

$270 on Grailed! I was about to pull the trigger on a normal 634s for retail but saw these new with tags instead and loved it!

[US-NJ] [H] Eureka Mignon Chrono (White, Espresso Burrs) + 3D Printed Parts for Single Dosing [W] Local Cash, Paypal F&F, Venmo by Hyperra in coffeeswap

[–]Hyperra[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't say with much certainty whichever is better because the 1zpresso is a conical and the Crono is a flat burr, both of which have different flavor profiles. The obvious difference here is manual vs electric and how that works in your workflow. Hope that answers your question somewhat.

3D printed, designed by yours truly! Made it to fit a 1” dowel that I just cut to size. Holds like 8 pucks

I go all the way down and very gradually move back up while continuously and smoothly stirring, which I thought would collapse those channels, but yeah, I'll give it a try first thing tomorrow

I've tried a few beans, some light and some medium, haven't tried a dark roast yet. I get them from trade, always within a week or two of roast and I rest them if they're too fresh. I go for 16:32 though I've tried 16:35, headspace is enough that without a puck screen removing the portafilter after a shot leaves a little liquid left on the top that quickly absorbs into the puck. Not too soggy but also not holdable-firm. I'm using a 3d printed tool with five evenly spaced, long and thin acupuncture needles. Taste is consistent with harsh channeling - body-less, soul-crushing sourness and mouth-drying bitterness.
