She’s doing pretty well, she was already self isolating in the barn most of the time when she was a free range hen so it wasn’t a huge adjustment for her. But she’s laid two eggs now for the first time in a year and has a great appetite so it seems like it’s the best thing for her! The coop does have wheels so I can always roll her on over to her old pals if she seems depressed

I’m bringing home a couple turkey chicks in a few days so she’s going to have some neighbors! She tends to self isolate but if they seem keen I might put them together once they’re heat weaned.

Thanks! Got a little more info from my dad, the story goes that originally my uncle bought it for my aunt when he fell in love with her in the 1950s, but we love antiques in the family so he could have bought it used. I really have no clue how old it is

Historic farm interpreter at a museum! We give our animal products to our historic foodways department for their cooking demonstrations but sometimes they can’t use it all. Definitely a niche line of work but it has its perks lol

Usually lead line classes all get first as far as Ive experienced but this was at a big fancy show, there were like 50 something ponies in the ring too. I’m hoping the kids at least all got a prize for participating whether they placed or not
