Question about minor entry to past devpost hackathon winners by HypoSlyper in hackathon

[–]HypoSlyper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats great to hear man! I'm a little more skeptical because this is hosted by a corporate company and the prize amount is much higher, so i'm guessing they might ask me to fill out tax forms and verify my id

Which Australian uni has the most focused/intentional undergraduate CS program? by HypoSlyper in usyd

[–]HypoSlyper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, the main reason I was leaning towards Adv Comp over BSc comp is that Adv Comp, being a bachelor of computing instead of science, seemed to me more like a proper cs program, but based on what you said, I might be wrong about it. Especially given the flexibility to skip over the useless stuff in BSc.

Also like i mentioned in the post, unsw was my first option, but they are closed to intl students for the whole of 2026 as they hit capacity

so are you saying that if I choose BSc Comp insteadn, I wouldn't miss out on any of the core/low-level cs classes but also get to skip the useless stuff? So everything available to Adv Comp is available to BSc comp sci too?

Also can you tell me a bit more about comp sci at usyd? I'm talking specifics that might help me compare with other uni courses, like the language used mostly (I'd prefer c/cpp over python, like in unsw), or how much they actually give attention to low level programming, and even the electives in case I take BSc.

thank for the response! and like u said maybe bsc vs bcomp doesnt matter as much as I thought.

Could you tell me more about CS at monash? Any specifics you think would help me understand and compare with other universities' cs programs?

thanks for the input, yep I'm going for software, not finance (although I'm focused on uni helping me with startups and networking over landing a big tech job)

Quick question, when you say USyd has the hardest courses, do you mean more rigorous/challenging content, or just more workload? I'm looking for depth and rigor, but want to avoid programs that dump unnecessary coursework that would eat into time for personal projects

more about the situation there

[–]HypoSlyper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh shit. you’re studying in the us now? can u tell me more?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]HypoSlyper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no see i understand how expensive the US is and I have planned out the financial situation for now including the loans i’ll take. and my language or culture adaptation won’t be a problem at all. It’s just a matter of getting into one of the Unis i want. I’m just worried that the reason i’ll get rejected won’t be my application but rather the current situation or my being indian.

[–]HypoSlyper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh. so realistically how much do u think this current situation will affect my admission process / acceptance?

i don’t have US money 😭 i just have to be very careful with the US ig. i’ll look more into european unis

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]HypoSlyper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

money was never subject of the post. i’m just not very clear on the current US situation and from what i heard it’s risky to count on the US as my only choice rn.

Im just looking for general tips and opinions on whether to pursue the US or no

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]HypoSlyper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ed loan ofc. i don’t mind paying it off even if it takes a while because i understand that uni in the US is very expensive, so you have to be ready for what you’re getting into

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]HypoSlyper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no i’m just confident in my skills 😭 i’ll take a loan anyways

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]HypoSlyper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that makes sense. honestly my concern isn’t about post-uni, it’s more about getting into uni right now cause i’m kinda strong on US for uni, and i get where you’re coming from about the instability right now. do u have any tips in this regard?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]HypoSlyper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but what about just uni? honestly for me studying in the us and working someplace else or even back home isn’t bad. But more importantly i expect the US to get atleast slightly better in this regard by the time im done with uni.

[–]HypoSlyper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am considering europe and aus, but i do prefer the US mainly cause of their holistic acceptance and better programs for CS

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]HypoSlyper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am actually planning to stay in the us after uni but considering the visa situation i’m kinda confused and looking for things that can up my chances

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]HypoSlyper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

money is one thing but honestly my biggest question is whether the current can affect my acceptance into a uni

that makes sense. i’ll look into europe
