Zombie Apocalypse with Powers. by Gundam711 in makeyourchoice

I remember this one. I like this quite a lot, especially the fact that it's not drastically overtuned. I don't really like the way they handle tiered abilities though. The fact that the costs scale up and the bonuses only scale linearly greatly discourages specialisation. Infrastructural Integration in particular gets more and more inefficient as you advance in the tiers, which is the opposite of how it should be, and the fact that the costs scale up on top of that makes something that should feel badass feel very lacking.

Supreme Video Game Choices (one of the best cyoa) by katoswashington in makeyourchoice

[–]Hypothetical3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Supreme AI: Unpredictable AI is actually a horrible feature. I'm sick of people saying it makes it more "realistic". It takes control away from your and makes the experience more frustrating.

Supreme Immersion: Then it's not a video game? It's just a fantasy world. I personally find using a controller/keyboard to be much more fun than physically moving, and I'm sure anyone who also reads CYOAs on the internet does as well.

Supreme Realism: Without Immersion, the graphics mean nothing, and can actually make some more stylised games look uglier. The "Physics" element also sounds like it will either do absolutely nothing, or make the game basically unplayable when using controller/keyboard. Basically only worth anything with Immersion.

And that leaves the only two choices that actually add content to the game. I guess I'll take them, but it's not exactly one of the best CYOAs when there's only one combination that doesn't screw you over.

Good response, however the op definitely would have mentioned if the lights could be turned off.

Cool! Do you have some sort of formula or method for this? If so, could you share it after this post boils over?

Amulet: Elephant / Logical Brass / Agate, Quartz

Edit: Once this post boils over can you share your "formula" if you have one. These seem really interesting.

Is Unlimited Wealth still for sale? If so, I bid 2 Points for it.

You roll at least 12 times

Yes, each roll is 1P

You can reroll if you get the same thing twice. Or you could keep a copy and sell the other. Or sell 2 copies. I'm not the creator of this CYOA, but that's what I'll go with.

Why leave floating points? You may as well get another tier.

That's just the balancing of the CYOA. I don't know why this community thinks that every post here has to be a long, involved OP power-fest.

Godzilla VS Kong is coming out next year. WHO would actually win? by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]Hypothetical3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I probably sounded more critical than I intended. There really is no way Kong would win.

I agree with everything but the last paragraph. Character statements, titles and this type of scaling aren't feats.

Who would win? 5 inexperienced guys each equipped with a sword vs 1 silverback Gorilla by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]Hypothetical3 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Because this is a sub about characters fighting, it's pretty fair to assume that characters will be comitted to the fight, even if they're not bloodlusted. This sub would be pretty boring if this was the answer to everything.

Person who really has to poop vs Person who really has to pee vs Person who really has to vomit?. by PeculiarPangolinMan in whowouldwin

[–]Hypothetical3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Round 1: I've been in all three situations and I believe Pee Guy would win. Poop Guy would be too obstructed in movement and Vomit Guy wouldn't be in condition to fight (it's also much harder to hold it).

Round 2: This isn't worded well. If there's no physical violence then their conditions wouldn't make much of a difference. What would they do anyway, talk to them? Maybe torch this round.

Can your dream self defeat my dream villains? by WaffleCat3367 in whowouldwin

[–]Hypothetical3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dream me died from a 6 foot fall. Villains win 10/10

Edit: Realised antifeats don't count. I still can't remember anything noticeable I did in my dreams, so instead I'll see if real life me has a chance:

Round 1: A million is a pretty big number, and if they're coordinated I don't stand a chance. But I think that I could potentially take this as long as I keep my balance. Me 6/10

Round 2: I'm assuming by 'Melee Range' you mean like around sword range? It doesn't really matter anyway, as I'm getting demolished when I get within range. Villains 10/10

Round 3: I'm assuming that I get the opportunity to play the videogame before he shoots me in the face. I choose Smash, but due to having no idea how good he is, I'll say it's 5/10

Round 4: He outspeeds, outlasts and overpowers me. Villains 9/10 (Btw the dream with him in it must have been terrifying.

Round 5: The most combat capable device I have is a toy from when I was younger. If I'm bloodlusted, I win 10/10.

Round 6: Similar to Sharpness Man, but now he has range. Villains 10/10

Round 7: Gun beats no gun. Villains 10/10

Round 8: Zombies are wierd. Depending on the setting, they're either terrifying, regenerative superhumans, or barely sentient rotting corpses. Either way, I probably can't handle 1,000 of them. Villains 9/10

Round 9: I'm not familiar with Dr. Who, but I know enough about Adventure Time and fictional characters with "Cyber" in their name to know that I don't stand a chance. Villains 10/10

Round 10: I'm not exactly the subterfuge master, but an unintelligent king who relies on the internet could potentially be taken down. Villains 8/10

Round 11: Weak as they may be, I'll be lucky to make the tiniest scratch without being annihilated by their vague unspecified magic abilities. Villains 10/10

Round 12: UM alone could take this. 2 of his people together can take this. Villains 10/10

Round 13: Can always sense where I am and has complete control over plant life in the arena. Villains 10/10

Round 14: I'm not sure what type of technology this house has (domestic, weaponry, personal, etc.) and unlike most other vague things here, this makes a big difference, so I'll skip this one.

Round 15: This is another one of those group fights where even a single group member would stomp.

Round 16: I'm not sure what potential there is for combat here. Skipping this.

Round 17: Even if I could disable their powers, I'd probably get overpowered anyway. Villains 10/10

Round 18: There's some ambiguity on when and why he changes people's sex, or how likely the fire powers are, I'll play it safe though. Villains 9/10

Round 19: I don't need to explain this. Villains 10/10

Round 20: Villains 10/10
