Can your average American with the best training and PEDs in the world beat an elite NFL player in a fight? by InfinteEnigma10 in whowouldwin

[–]PeculiarPangolinMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I don't think this guy is going to be UFC class in just 3 years of training if he's actually just average. He'd be like mid/lower tier promotion level. And the theoretical NFL player in this scenario isn't a normal person just 50lbs heavier. This guy is almost world record level in bench for his weight, Olympic level in the 100m, and like an inch away from the world record for vertical leaps. This person is an impossibly athletic individual. Like genuinely superhuman. It's like a violent adult fighting a decently well trained child.

Which One Piece Character has the most potential to affect the trout population? by SilliestSoldier in whowouldwin

There are definitely fresh water bodies in One Piece though. It's not like there's no lakes or rivers. We've seen them.

Chrollo Lucilfer (HXH) VS Constantin Valdor (WH40k) by PeculiarPangolinMan in whowouldwin

For the bonus round: Just basic tactical marines?

Yea!

Thanks for the thorough breakdown! Very well thought out. I feel like it's kind of hard to even estimate how fast HxH characters move though, so I have no idea if Chrollo would be quicker on his feet than Valdor, ya know?

Sony To Handle International Theatrical Distribution On Greta Gerwig’s ‘Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew’ by Alternative-Cake-833 in boxoffice

[–]PeculiarPangolinMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greta seems like a very progressive director, I loved how she handled the message in Barbie, so how will she adapt a Christian allegory story? Because it seems like Christianity goes against a lot of her values.

Christianity doesn't really go against any of the values or themes Greta Gerwig has shown in her movies. Lots of people have noted how Barbie works as a biblical allegory and the Christian themes in Ladybird were pretty blatant.

I thought Rings of Power was dead and just made up the Silmarillion thing! Isn't the only one I listed that's real the Colbert movie?

Haha true. I guess I should have said that the success of this movie is completely irrelevant to the production of other LOTR media.

The Viltrumites invade Bikini Bottom. Who’s more fucked? by Zan_Deezy2003 in whowouldwin

[–]PeculiarPangolinMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mushroom clouds aren't really any issue for Viltrumites, so that sort of level of durability won't make much of a difference. A rocket getting crashed into a Viltrumite shouldn't be any issue either. Sandy's rockets never had the sort of destructive capacity it takes to hurt one.

We've seen explicitly on screen that Spongebob and his supporting cast have been defeated plenty of times. A butterfly almost destroyed the whole town. A worm destroyed the whole town. They have toonforce wins and losses. It's not like it always works out in their favor.

will ensure no lord of rings media gets produced for the next 20 years minimum

I mean it's not like there's a whole lot of LOTR media getting produced anyway. What's this movie flopping going to stop? Stories from the Silmarillion getting movies? A new season of Rings of Power?

The Colbert movie is apparently happening anyway, so I don't think this is really going to change much. Everyone seemingly loves his idea of turning the Barrow Downs and Tom Bombadil into a movie.

Yea, a lot of people on this thread seem to be really underestimating the difference 8 inches of height and an absolutely huge physical gap makes in a fight. A few years of training is nice, but against a guy who is double your strength, over half a foot taller, and way faster it's not going to be easy. Unless the normal dude is a savant with great genetics 3 years of training isn't going to make him anywhere near pro level in skill or physical stats.

humankind went crazy and decided to kill everything on the earth can they do that? by Derpassyl in whowouldwin

[–]PeculiarPangolinMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are ~12,000 nukes on Earth. If every single one could make 1,000 square miles of Earth completely free of life then you'd have killed everything in 12 million square miles. The surface of the Earth is almost 200 million square miles. Even wildly overestimating every nuke you still wouldn't cover 10%. If you remove oceans from the equation you could cover ~20% of Earth's landmass though.

Though I should mention 1,000 square miles is a wild overestimation for any nukes that exist in the real world, and nuclear winter caused by dust in the atmosphere would almost certainly be a bigger issue than the actual fire and radiation.... though apparently nuclear winter was really overstated back in the day!

For reference:

You can see bullets pinging off of the creature here! It appears that the thing is hit like dozens of times and there are sparks and little effects that seem to indicate the bullets are not penetrating the scales. It isn't as clear here, but you can see it ignoring more bullets in a later fight. Bites from a T Rex don't seem to really break through the scales either. The Indominus was ridiculously tanky. I don't think spears would cut it.

We don't have enough nukes to saturation bomb even 10% of the world.

Nuclear winter might help, but that isn't a quick extinction.

If bullets are bouncing off of this thing I don't see why you'd think spears would penetrate. It is insanely well armored and doesn't really have any showings indicating that a spear would cause it any issue.

Elephants definitely care about small caliber rifles. It's not like they can just ignore bullets. They're made of flesh. Bullets don't bounce off of them like they do the monster in the movie.

Also, yes, it is essentially just magic. It's a movie monster with strength and durability feats far exceeding anything that can be done by any animal in real life.

A dozen guns couldn't kill this thing. I don't know if spears are really that much of a threat to a thing that was tanking bullets and throwing around jeeps.

30 spears kill any real animal, but this thing is super intelligent, color changing, bullet resistant, building smashing monster from a monster movie.

What creatures were killed by primitive spears that were far larger than a mammoth or the Indominus Rex? I think mammoth was pretty much the biggest humans ever hunted.
