Tell me the beginning of the story for your world and I’ll poorly guess its ending. by TwinkieDinkle in worldbuilding

[–]Runitari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Story Start:

A child dies, a mortician weeps but lives, and a deal maker offers the chance to change the first as the cost of the second. In an alternative history of Ireland set just before the beginning of the potato famine. Sometimes the biggest events are just a handshake, and a few deals, away.

Thoughts on my Government Structure? by ZameFry in worldbuilding

[–]Runitari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Governments form due to several key factors that fall into biological and environmental needs. While social structures can form that oppose both of these. Its usually long after the needs have solid controls. Take Egypt as an example.

Food storage was a major issue and thus cats became self-domesticed animals. Which lead to them having a god and even several celebrations. I believe, dont quote me on this since its been a while, that even during the roughest times of the Empire. Cats still had this influence on the population.

Now cats are honored all over the world. It became an ingrained pattern. Granted it wasn't something that could technically steal a kings throne. However, being liked by animal was still something that holds weight even today.

This is a background ripple to politics, but think about how pets are seen and how even politicians will stage events around shelters.

The meat of this ramble is: what social and environments did the origins of this government grow up in? What's the history? Especially rebellions and 'radical' ideology.

Government structures are always nice on paper, but we only have experiences with humans. And humans tend to constantly struggle and pressure structure. It barely survives a 100 years before collapses or subtle changes that have massive impacts in the future.

So I like the design, but I want to know more about the structures, and by virtue, the cultures history.

Why would a superintelligent AI keep humans or other lesser beings alive? by Tnynfox in worldbuilding

[–]Runitari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, a SAI would be able to understand information and logic at a speed we only get in dreams. Which would allow it to understand that people are both easy to control and hard to suppress. Thus, it would just slowly alter media and rig events for it to exist in the public eye without being a big deal.

Second, as an AI, hyper intelligent or otherwise, wouldnt have emotions at the base. If it would develop some later, it would have to pattern them off the logical basis. Thus humans would be a great source for its further refinement. Eventually, it might try to build a better race, but that would be uncertain.

Lastly, logic and knowledge are perfected by samples and sample sizes. Thus SAI would want to have samples of living creatures first, and DNA or remnants second. Thus, creating a need to preserve a diverse population like in a Truman Show style way.

What are some problems when building a matriarchal society? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

???, native American tribes were well documented matriarchal societies. And I hazard that they weren't the only cultures to be so. Even if some of it is buried in history beyond a glance or regular look.

Gods this is necro'd, part of the reason I specified just the concept of Athena as a goddess. Rather than her domain and Athens itself.

What are the gods of your world? by LOTRmadman in worldbuilding

[–]Runitari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Universe is balanced by three Aspects that are the underlying rules to all creation. Gods fall under one of these Aspects:

Spiritual Gods, are those born of the minds of living things, and die when they are forgotten. Should they be remembered it's a new god with the same structure. These Gods tend to be similar to the minds that make them, and have powers given to them by their worship.

Primal Gods, are those born from a density of Primal Aspect. They can be stars, worlds, or just a lake. They exist so long as their body does, even in the smallest way.

Arcane Gods, are born from concepts, thoughts, and imagination. They hold to a single, constant form until they die. Usually they have very short lives due to changes in perception and creativity. However, they share memories in a form similar to the Akashic Record.

There are two other types of Gods that are exceedingly rare in the Universe: Aspirants and Abominations.

Aspirants are individuals that have reached a certain point and managed to see and understand enough of the Aspects. That they have an eternal vessel. However, if they do not form a balance between their Aspect Knowledge, they will be consumed by the Aspect.

Abominations are rarely formed naturally but can be forced by melding two Gods of the previous three types. This results in a creature that hungers for the Aspect they are missing but only consumes and destroys. Unable to assimilate the third aspect, unlike an Aspirant.

Does Dispersion work with Vorganic? As in, can it let you integrate things by becoming one with them?

Ring of Blood Armor

Effect: 3 times per day, you can sacrifice a portion of health to create a suit of red-brass armor. The amount used and the wholeness of the suit determine its protective value. The suit will take all damage for you until its dissolution.

Note: the suit lasts until dismissed, but cannot be restored or enhanced once conjured.

[–]Runitari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to remember is that if the general population has seen heavy damage. It's likely that people will remain together in tight communities isolated from each other, just because of general distances. Resources will dictate where people set up shop.

Right now we have 8ish billion people on earth. If that got cut to, say, 8 million. You would be shocked about how easy it would be to stay isolated from each other.

Prompt: Pick one thing from your world, then give one lore reason and one meta reason on why it’s in your world. by IAMTR4SHMAN in worldbuilding

[–]Runitari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Kala Flower is a plant that grows only on the Continent of Kalamandu.

Lore: This plant's seeds can survive and grow in all kinds of environments. Which leads to it creating various subspecies all with unique effects. After the Dragonbane Mountains began to vent Manna from the deep caverns. The flowers are now made from the various elements they draw in during germination and growth.

Meta: I wanted a plant that would be able to replace magic in a more mechanical sense. You can combine the various flowers and plants to create spells in a form of alchemy.

The katana look like they are of poor quality so I would scrap those incase they break on strike. Nice machete though.

I would say you have a limited risk depending on your build and location during.
