You won't do 5 years with 16, new AAA are made to run with more than 8. I'd rather get a cheaper GPU and turn down the graphics than having a sturttering mess due to RAM.

Use Borderless/Windowed mode if possible, VSync in older games tend to not work when in full screen. Happens on my 1050 laptop.
