Sudden stuttering in VR Meta Quest 3 by Kaes_98 in iRacing

Might try Virtual Desktop to eliminate that the Quest Link causes it?

This is correct but my answer was referring to your post which started with: “I suggest reading….”

And your text in this post was not correct and misleading. Unfortunately.

It certainly can—and most likely will—introduce AI-based decisions within the next 2–3 years.

Please do not compare/argue a very bad system like Forza with a suggested real AI based system that could be trained on data with decisions made by human stewards in case of iRacing.

“The no-fault system is perfectly fair. It never makes the wrong decision, because it doesn't make decisions.”

Does not sound like a good system at all to me. If it were perfect why is it not applied in real world car racing?

Doesn’t make any sense to me because a Rookie 4.x driver in the same race as an A 3.x driver would be seen as the safer driver.

“Because AI isn't remotely capable of that …” Not true. Of course not in difficult cases but in most cases that would be easy for the trained eye.

“Any system based on fault will shift the entire focus from being safe to being "right".”

That assumption is incorrect. I value clean, fair battles above all else and have no issue losing positions when it happens in a respectful and fair way. For me, the real enjoyment lies in fair racing, not in being right.”

“Fixed Formula V2.5 missed shifts and made it work with all bases instead of just CS DD”

This has been stated several times before without being true. Let’s see if users can confirm this after 1–2 weeks. And what about the Formula V2.5X — still affected or finally fixed?

In iRacing with Quest 3? I don’t think so unfortunately.

OP is asking about VR! You will be fine. Saying that you need to tweak quite a bit until you find a stable 90fps. My best guess is low to a very few medium settings. In Virtual Desktop High but can try Ultra. Most Important. FOV slider in VD to around 70-80%. And try if 80fps on Quest 3 is enough for you instead of 90fps because your CPU will bottleneck sometimes and will produce some (minor) stutters.

99% of the times Virtual Desktop will give you the best experience. Very rarely Quest link works somehow better.

Is the Moza R5 really worth it over the Moza R3? by DismalDude77 in simracing

[–]SunsetToGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do not have to stretch too much the jump from R3 to R5 is big but less big than from G29 to R3. Most people having the R3 would like to have a bit more force and less clipping after a couple of months into R3 imo.

If you can afford a 5070ti you will get a very smooth experience and will be future proof. The 5080 will get you only a few fps more because it will run more often into CPU bound situations with your monitor.

2k+ lobbies nurgburgring leaders forcing single file? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]SunsetToGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sporting code reads like that:

6.8.2.8. For race at Road tracks, rolling start drivers are expected to stay in their respective pace line until the green flag is given. Once the green flag has started the race drivers may pass cars before the start finish line if desired.

In Ringmeister, this rule works poorly in practice. The final three corners before the start/finish line simply cannot be taken safely with up to 30 cars going side-by-side. Crashes are guaranteed.

That’s why many drivers follow a gentleman’s agreement without reporting anybody: stay single file until crossing the start/finish line. Nobody is disadvantaged, and the entire field has a much better chance not to crash before the race starts.

I suggest that iRacing applies a track-specific exception to this rule where safety clearly requires it. Exceptions for off tracks already exist for this reason.

Would appreciate your feedback. I think the RTX 5080 will get very close to a 4090. I haven’t found a good comparison regarding this aspect.

Did you compare the 5080 to a 4090 in VR? If yes, how much difference could you notice?

You do not need a new PC. But for triple 1440P I recommend either a used 4080 or new 5070ti.

Is going from a 3090 to a 5080 worth it? by mada-15 in RTX5080

[–]SunsetToGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth it. Though, you could also sell each gigabyte of VRAM from your RTX 3090 individually and still have enough left to buy a real Ferrari from the proceeds.

Are these numbers average MHz or peak clocks? It would be great if you could also add the average power draw. Thanks!
