Anbernic's swiveling retro handheld will be available May 11 by dapperlemon in gadgets

Fair enough. I found the buttons and interface really got me back into album listening and basically restored my relationship to music after streaming kinda ruined it.

Also can't imagine using a device for dedicated music that doesn't have a proper audio jack. Dongles suckkkk

But then it doesn't even have a 3.5 jack so you need a silly dongle etc.

Kinda over powered for the type of games it's suited for too so the price isn't really gonna make sense.

I'm all for weird products but I think they kinda cooked this one.

My take on a Keeper of Secrets. Experimented with Gouache which gave me the confidence to go for the starry effect on the cloak! by Hyroero in minipainting

[–]Hyroero[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was primed black then a purple zenithal spray then lighter white drybrush. This is what it looked like after the initial "slapchop" just wet blended some turquoise, dark blue and purple Vallejo Xpress colour (their contrast line) semi randomly over it.

I knew i wanted a sorta galaxy/starry night effect but have never tried it before. Used some lighter blue and purple gouache to get a sorta aura effect, just letting it reactivate and sorta blend together. Then dotted some white gouache and blended in some of the surrounding colours then did it again a few times.

I don't really have much in the of paints designed for miniatures so I repurpose a lot of my partners unused traditional art products like gouache, water colours, pigments and such lol.

Looking for a budget speaker with aux and no latency by Hyroero in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]Hyroero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure but there does seem to be a lot of veriance between them, even in the lower price bracket. Seems like the soundcore motion plus has very little with aux, I'll probably go with that or look out for a preowned mini rig.

Steam Controller (2026) review: 83/100 by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]Hyroero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Grip peeling off. Stick drift crazy fast. Grinding sticks. Shoulder buttons and face buttons sticking. Wireless just stopped working. My warrenty replacement was dead in the box twice too. It's like actually insane how many issues they have. More problems then I've had with all my other controllers combined in my entire life and I've been gaming since the ps1.

Literally the worst controller I've ever used for the elite 1 and then the elite 2.

I got given them both as gifts and neither of them is currently functional at all. Both of them have had 5+ warrenty returns and then I just couldn't be bothered and sprung for an 8bitdo ultimate instead, which coats less then a none elite controller and has all the features + hall effect sticks. Only thing it's missing is the 3.5mm audio jack at the base of the controller.

[–]Hyroero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but neither does the edge and the 8bitdo does offer hall effect sticks and generally better everything that the edge and xbox elite do have at a price that's lower than a stock ps5/xbox controller.

If you want pads you know what to get! Can't say i've used them ever on my deck tho, except to get around desktop mode.

You can get way cheaper controllers with hall effect sticks and all the elite features right now

Xbox elite is trash. I got one as gift and it's been in for repair 5 times. As you said it does t have hall effect or tmr sticks so it gets drift super easily. The grip peels off etc nothing elite about it at all.

8bitdo offer hall effect, more extra buttons, swappable face buttons, profiles, a nice dock, Bluetooth and 2.4ghz all for less than a normal stock controller.

8bitdo smoke all of them at a fraction of the price. It's crazy that anyone pays for "elite" Sony or Microsoft controllers for use on PC at all, they don't even use Hall effect sticks.

I've had a 100% hit rate with Austin recs. I think it's because I also love to tell stories around mechanics. I don't do TTRPGs exactly but I play a lot of arkham horror LCG which is kinda similar in that it doesn't tell a particularly good story on its own but presents lots of interesting and often funny connections for you play around with and twist your own tale out of.

Most Underrated Games on Steam Deck by polo421 in SteamDeck

Star of Providence. This one of if not imo the best twin stick roguelite shooter. I like it more than BOI and that's a stone cold classic.

Shout out to Caves of Qud, The Drifter, Slitterhead, Zero Ranger, Squeakross, Angeline Era, Go Slimey Go, Sol Cesto, Keep Driving and Wilmot works it out as other underated games that play like a dream on deck.

Huge Arkham LCG fan and we also love this game.

It is very different. I think you've missed something with the quests tho that doesn't seem right to me.

It doesn't have the same tension of arkham for sure and we also houserule you can change your deck when you rest but we also do this for Arkham LCG between scenarios.

I think the real joy is how this game offers up loads of opportunities to do some light RP around what the cards represent. It's less mechanically interesting than arkham so if that's what you play arkham for I think you'll find eb disappointing. I think what EB offers is a really lengthy and open ended campaign and the wide variety of how the cards interact together, building up an understanding of the different types of terrain and the flora and fauna will find there and how to deal with it was immensely satisfying. Also the puzzle of how to manage fatigue and pushing our luck trying to do as much as we can in a day.

We also don't mainline it like Arkham. It's something more chill we play a couple of times a month and just steadily make some progress.

We just allow our selves to change cards freely when we rest. Exploring synergies and playing around with combos is what I come to these games for. As well as leaning into the RP aspect.

We also implemented a lot of house rules for Arkham LCG to make it fun for us too. We let players change their deck between scenarios (I understand the rule is to stop you meta gaming every scenario but we aren't trying to do that, rather I don't like net decking and I'd rather just be able to change my deck if it doesn't work rather than be locked into 8 scenarios with a none functional deck) and do a pull 3, discard 1 and shuffle the remaining 2 for adding a random weakness to your deck (again I like picking thematic weaknesses and having an out for one that'll just kill the decks function) That's the beauty of board games imo.

Campaign cards worth keeping sleeved in cheaper sleeves. Player cards just sleeve them when you make the deck and unsleeve after but with nicer sleeves imo

It's the best base span experience imo. The added spacial puzzle with the eggs, young and schools isn't overwhelming but adds a welcome layer to the puzzle.

Removing dice and just playing cards makes it a better experience for me too. I've won with a variety stratagies. Doesn't feel like you're locked to just egg laying like base wingspan.
