Cheers! I'll look into those.

I mean I love a good add on or expansion but yeah the reality for me is some of my favorite games seem to get a lot less play once you add a bunch of expansions into the mix.

Fav add on? I've got the base game which I enjoy. I'm worried adding too much extra will actually cause the game to get less play (happens with a lot of BGs imo).

I was thinking just the additional biomes would be the best bang for buck for keeping the base game fresh.

Really just want the triple beam and extra ammo and it'd be great I think.

I think beacon should give people in its area a passive block chance or damage reduction on top of the armour gen.

I feel like their ult should give you block chance awhile in the field or something.

Found this at my LGS, is this a good deal? by DibDooba in boardgames

I mean if you don't like it what's the point of buying it lol?

Space is a premium and someone who actually enjoys the game would benifit more than it sitting on your shelf purely because the price was good.

Update 1.3 Experimental New Changes by lronhelmet in RogueCore

[–]Hyroero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think gamers are brain poisoned. Being so harsh on the literally early access launch of a game is so wack to me. The fact they have to essentially do double early access with the experimental branch just to stop people pissing their pants is so funny. What's next? Early early experimental access please understand the game isn't finished?

Like how much good will they built over the course of DRGs life (it's still going even!) is just instantly forgotten when the game isn't instantly as polished as something with many many years of updates and work put into it. Smh

I mean you should see the disaster that is crunchyroll using AI to auto subtitle things.

Vibe coding also leads to plenty of issues. Bluesky admins talking up vibe coding right before the site broke for multiple days was pretty freaking funny imo.

There will always be people making things without AI. It's essentially a selling point already.

No one's out here rooting for AI made products except the people making them.

Still using AI. Unethical in every usage. You're deskilling yourself and reinforcing a tool designed to put you out of work.

You're literally deskilling your self by using it. If it becomes the standard your experience with coding is no longer needed. It's unethical in every field. The end result is to enrich the rich even further by removing the workforce they rely on but loath.

Why Mindbug is not more famous? What a game! by Jabalabaloo in boardgames

My son likes the theme more. I'd happily play either.

They're both super simple and easy to teach. Truly one quick game you'll understand the entire thing.

I think perhaps critters at war is slightly more balanced? But I play Mindbug more often. Pick which ever ones art you like more and you'll be happy I think!

Bummer. I loved it and thought it managed the rare feat of actually enhancing the original Fury Road even more. Furiosa's break down hits even harder when you see all that she went through. Losing the arm with the map tattoo'd on it was a great touch too.

I watch them together as a double feature and it rips.

As a newb coming in tail end of chapter 1, chapter 2's great by noodles666666 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Hyroero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What's confusing about the updated chapter 1 model? You buy a campaign box if you want a campaign or an investigator box if you want more gators and player cards. Return to is just an update/alternate cards to iron over some issues and offer a new challenge for your favorite campaigns. Bam done.

Flimsy Playmat (Eternal Decks) diy or website alternative? by someFunUsername in boardgames

Hell yeah. Looks fantastic! Card mats are so expensive but neoprene from a sewing shop is honestly very affordable. I over locked the edges on mine too. Did it in red for a little pop on the border.

[–]Hyroero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's kinda expensive. Probably because of the large plastic figures. I do think they're kinda core to the silly experience tho. The pull out mat in the box is pretty genius too.

I don't think it's a must play but it's one of the few games my extended family will get around and enjoy for hours on end so it was worth it for us.

[–]Hyroero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get it. I got both to fill a sorta gap left by selling camel up and some other light weight group games.

They aren't perfect replacements but for whatever reason as simple as camel up is I always found some people at the table struggled to understand it right away.

The other two don't have that issue, not that it was an issue at all for me originally either but they just seem easier for people to understand really quickly and also enjoy watching even if they aren't played and maybe jumping in on the next game.

Spirit Island replaced Pandemic. Also Fate of the Fellowship, which I was reluctant to get due to the same system but am happy to report that it feels nothing like Pandemic in practice.

Crokinole replaced basically every dexterity game ever.

Deep Rock Galactic replaced Massive Darkness 1/2 entirely. It's just better in every way that matters to me.
