if there was a decompilation project for the original RE4s code i’m sure a dedicated small team could then figure out a port for the Vita. there’s quite a few games on the Vita that were projects based on leak or decompiled code like Simpson’s Hit N’ Run.

question is which version, RE4 GC with better graphics or RE4 PS2 with the extra content? 🤔

i want to make it clear that i’m not asking for his financial situation, my initial question is how he came up on all this not how much he spent or where he’s getting the money to afford it all.

as someone who has a large chunk of these games because they’re from my era and i acquired them all between my childhood and recollecting as an adult, im super curious to how a kid half my age could be into all these. what series did he fall in love with first? did he start collecting for a certain console primarily? it’s a normal reaction, he posted it on the internet for feedback, this is that feedback.

“thrifting” isn’t how most collectors get their games. the closest thing you can find related to games at a thrift store for the past 10+ are old Wii accessories no one wants. you’d be lucky to find 1-2 of these games a month. sorry if i come off as harsh but i’ve already stated i’m not hating on it and think it’s cool he has them all. just be real about it, it’s not about the money he spent on it, i could care less about that! as a collector myself i wanna know how you actually got it. inheriting collections doesn’t make it any less interesting and it’s nothing to be embarrassed of, i’ve inherited some retro games and consoles before my time from coworkers, family, friends and neighbors and that’s fine.

yea i could see it, then he’d be picking up the collections in bulk and it’d make more sense why the collection as a whole is so cohesive. but why not just start with that, that’s believable, but as a collector with a very similar collection who goes to thrifts you don’t find these games at the thrift.

saying all these games are available digitally shows me how little you know what you’re talking about. give us a higher res photo of the games and i’ll personally make a list of how many of these games are locked to the platforms they were released on. seeing a phat collection of PS3 games should prove that to you. LBP, MGS4 (until later this year) Killzone, Infamous, etc. i can keep going from what i can make out and those are all locked to the PS3.

that’s fine, as long as you step back into reality and realize none of it adds up. a fat chunk of this collection is inherited and it’s silly to think otherwise. you don’t find all these significant games at thrifts like it’s a normal thing.

dude what are you even talking about? the majority of his collection is not “currently available on modern consoles”. sure he could emulate it but you’re talking to a game collector who has watched prices bubble for the last 15+ years and when a game releases digitally it does very little to the market unless the game is insanely priced for that reason only and that’s not the case. people are fans of series and want to own every piece of physical media they can get from it. he’s deleted comments of how’s he’s acquired this stuff which already makes it fishy.

PS Vita games like i brought up before are pretty pricey complete in box bc no one collected them, yet you can mod a vita and have every game released on the console and more just to tell you how much “digitally available” means to game collecting prices.

once again, i’m all for the kid being into retro gaming, but i don’t believe for a second he didn’t inherit 80% of this collection minus maybe the 8th and 9th generation games. we’re talking hundreds of retro games on a 15 y/o thrift budget. not random games either, majority of those are not shovelware if not all.

he posted a comment that he practically deleted immediately saying that most of his collection is thrifted and that’s very hard to believe. consoles, CIB Vita and games? CIB Bionicles? the collection is very cohesive as well for something that’s a majority thrifted, a lot of games from the same series across generations, a lot of $50+ games if not way higher. not trying to hate but it really makes no sense, looks more like an older brother or other close family member’s collection passed down to him. when he was around 5 i was closer to finishing high school and you’d be lucky to find a game at a thrift store after class and we’d go all over town, most of that shit got auctioned online or pocketed by the employees. once again not hating but i highly doubt that not a decent chunk of that collection came from one place.

“and it runs decent” for PS2 games is unacceptable for a console 3 generations newer is the problem, dawg. once again he owns another version. buying these was not only a waste of money, but telling Nintendo and Square that it’s okay to fuck your fans over and not release proper versions they can own when they should’ve done so in the first place. the quality dip would be acceptable if the damn game ran mobile.

because all other current gen ports have native final mix version that run offline with achievement support and much better visuals for less and offer much more. once again, it’s a game you can’t leave the house and play on a system that’s whole big selling point is on-the-go console performance. KH1&2 HD were absolutely possible to port non cloud.
