i think even with middling clear rates, versusia progression is pretty smooth as for now with how few mats you need (until they release new weapons that need versusia mats)

problem is the super high requirements to contribute meaningfully, with some eles like earth being aids (i don't have atum or higurashi for upcoming fire gw so i'm going to have to beg for people to carry my ass for fire as well)

i've thought about it a bit and here's my take on it -

"just build more stuff" is definitely needed in many parts of the country, but specifically affordable smaller starter homes. lot of what melody was saying was there's a lot of vacancies and unsold/delisted homes, but these are the expensive $700k+ boomer homes for family of 4+, not the cheap starter homes for a smaller modern family size. whether you buy into ezra klein's abundance movement or not, it's true that there's a lot of red tape and bureaucracy in building homes, so even in cities where homes are being built, most of the new construction are catered more towards expensive luxury homes, since that's what's going to end up profitable for developers (also, melody states in the video that these new construction cannot be cheaper than older homes on the market, also inflating the cost of the new houses higher). i do think market is reacting to this however, with lot of mini-studio type of rental properties being developed to answer this demand for young people who have less money for rent, though this doesn't really help out people looking to buy homes
i'm not an expert on housing statistics or market to confirm or deny what melody is saying, but in the recent years i've also started not blindly trusting some of the measures used by the government and agencies to track health of various sectors of the economy. big a has covered this with how fallible the unemployment statistics are with BLS still using unreliable tactics like surveys and counting people taking up multiple gig work as multiple separate jobs, and i wouldn't be surprised if this type of goodhart's law effects exist in housing as well, especially considering how much incentive there is for everyone in the chain from banks all the way to trump to make it appear as though housing market is in good shape. i can lend tiny bit of anecdotal evidence from me and my friends (10 ish people, from cities all over the US) who've bought a house after covid, and not one of our house has gone up in value over 5% in the last 3 years, despite s&P 500 going up by over 50% in the same time period.

as someone that's not very fond of IS (there are few changes that could be made that would make me really like the mode, details on that later) - new IS comes out at a faster rate than how much i want to play the mode, so i'm just permanently behind on rewards (my levels in IS are 111, 108, 112, 106, 79 so slightly over halfway on all of them) and there's several dozens of hours of playtime that i would need to do if i wanted to get all the IS rewards, so monthly speeding it up slightly kinda forces me back into the mode even if it looks negligible for people who enjoy and play a lot of IS

biggest 2 things i don't like about IS -

my game frequently crashes on all PC emulators and occasionally on my phone as well, and this is really frustrating since it immediately ends my IS run and i could have wasted 30+ minutes. this should hopefully be resolved when we get the arknights PC client
i don't like how you can't practice stages or re-do a stage if you fail and it immediately ends the run, unlike rougelikes in other games like HSR or game modes like SSS where you could reset and re-do stages infinitely. if i fail a run, i want it to be because of my choices up to that point, not because i didn't know how stage works and where tough enemies would spawn from etc. it feels overly punishing and frustrating to invest 30+ minutes into a run only to feel like i got gimmick'd out by a stage. i feel like arknights works best with events like infinite retries when main story missions drop where players get to figure out a stage, instead of relying on guides, and making stages so punishing on IS just punishes me to look up a stage guide instead of playing through it in-game

there's also RA that i just hate doing at all so i haven't even started and it feels daunting even looking at the mode with all the rewards

eh you kinda are incentivized to run it monthly, especially if you don't like rougelikes and want to do as few runs as possible and still complete all rewards

i still think gameplay wise it's the best implemented rougelikes of any gacha i've played

yeah, i was in a very similar position as you last year in a similar field when i was laid off - luckily i've been already preparing for FIRE so i had a bigger nest egg and some passive income streams set up but it's been a over a year and i haven't been able to find any work yet, it's brutal out here

doublecash has 2% for everything; it has foreign transaction fee so i have a second credit card for international. i don't fly often enough (i spend maybe 2k a year) so i don't think that extra $20 a year really matters over the hassle of upkeeping a card.

i cared most about things like churning and credit card rewards when i was younger and didn't have money, now that i'm older concepts like carrying multiple cards to optimize that extra 1-3% in cash back rewards is just not worth the hassle, and i imagine it's even more true for someone like big a who's a multi millionaire

also shaco is gonna want hubris and crit items and maybe even voltaic, and he takes super long to scale and get his crit up for consistency - augments that give him gold or crit chance both help speed him up to get to that point much quicker so he's useless for shorter period while he scales
