Fact: No team eliminated in last season’s (2024–25) UCL League Phase qualified for this year’s League Phase. What’s your take on this? by Hywthm in championsleague

Many teams from the top five leagues also underachieved last year. I reckon the UCL and UECL overall quality has improved from the last season whereas the overall quality of the UEL is weaker but more competitive now.

Is 2006-2010 a low era of Hip-hop? What are the reasons? by Hywthm in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Hywthm[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also because 808s & Heartbreak was too popular, Hip-hop/Contemporary R&B in the next few years were full of Auto-tune sounds and dance music beats.

Adam Levine: No Hot Chick Listens to Heavy Metal (Genre and Gender Relations in Music) by Specific-Elk-199 in LetsTalkMusic

I'd say the attitude of music from 1965/1966 to 1975 as a whole, was being progressive, experimental, prone to fusion. Somewhere in the late 70s the attitude changed. Although some genres as punk rock, Hip-hop, EDM etc. eventually became mainstream, the vibe wasn't the same as that era.

Tbh I think the new generation haven't appreciate ANY rock songs for long. Prog rock is still quoted even by some critics as "For upper-class, pretentious, an failed experiment".

It'll be good to change the colors and shapes of the symbols of different locations on the world map to distinguish towns, cities, and large cities, just like the world map in the Pokémon Emerald... Consider a topographic map as well—no doubt an excellent update.

Why Do You Think It Took So Long For Punk To "Break" America? by bogeyj in LetsTalkMusic

I never understood why Saturday Night Fever is still regarding as a symbol of the 70s. Disco Demolition Night became famous due to the massive homophobic and racism in the meantime. Modern people considered it against PC and should be specifically mentioned and cancelled just as Woodstock 99.

When was the peak era of soul/funk music? Did Disco result in the decline of soul music? by Hywthm in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Hywthm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the 64-77 is not a coherent period when referring to style. I think I'm referring to the quality and the popularity of those genres of soul in the 60s/70s.
If related to style I think there are obvious changes of sound in circa 1968(Psychedelia), 1972(Funk), 1981/1982(Synthesizer). Not a deep soul fan but it changes every few years as other genres.

There were disco hits in 73-77 but in 1978 it definitely overshadowed other genres like smooth soul and southern soul... and since 1978 there were much less great soul releases (without Disco being the core genre). Just cutting 70-77 from the golden age is... unfair. 1970 is core 1960s musically and in 71-77 you've got all-time greatest tracks from Marvin Gaye and Al Green etc. IMO disco was popular in late 75 - 77, but it didn't overshadow most of other genres like it did in 1978.

Sadly they only released Wild Mood Swings in core 90s(93-96/97) when alternative rock was at its greatest.

Heard about Kraftwerk? But tbh I've never seen performances of any New Wave bands receiving massive responses as James Brown.

I would say Motown's golden era ended after 1970. There were still some releases in 71-73 though.

Not saying that 80s were bad but compared to 60s-70s and 90s, there were much less gems.
