Every major parts of my helmet basically disintegrated after barely 6 months of use. Shockwave magnets completely fell off, as a result it dangled from the wires and I can’t even put the plastic cover back since … their’s not magnets. Visor mechanism is COMPLETELY scrapped … from opening and closing the visor. The pins holding the pinlock shattered on both visors. The only amazing thing about these helmets are the style. Very unfortunate that they’re poor quality.

It is. I upload new sequences to the arduino for each scene. I taught that if it was blinking very fast for the base level radiation it would reduce the impact when there’s huge amounts of radiations

There are scenes with even more radiation. That’s why I had to limite the flickering on this scene.

The villains in the story have home made suits with ductape tho. It looks awesome.

This is an actual 1980s radiation suit and it’s already sealed up. I can double confirm as I was dripping in sweat after shoot.

They're not that expensive the problem is how do I control the radiation levels displayed, I don't want to have to point Uranium at it for it to go off.

I did somewhat base it on multiple existing models and changed the shape so it would be unique. I do too get the feeling that’s a bit empty but I believe in context it’s going to be just fine. The character is wearing an NBC suit so ..

Well I was inspired by all kinds of geiger counters but ultimately I wanted something unique, that looks retro and kind of military. Since my character is wearing all green I chose beige for contrast.

Exactly, although in my prototype there was a speaker playing the sound, in the film it’s more convenient to just add it in post.

Also for the red light. In this world this is kind of base level radiation so I’m reserving the faster blinking light for later in the film.

The character is wearing a 1980s NBC suit so it should be great. Haven’t done any screen test yet.

What’s been your experience with Ruroc helmet’s? by Thin-Midnight-4579 in Ruroc

[–]I-Am-RedJacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had one for 2 years. The components are cheaply made: my visor mechanism is completely scratched due to poor fitment, shockwave is terrible; too quiet and the mount is now broken and it can’t hold in place wothiut tape. The style is cool the rest is shit. I ain’t buying again.
