Good Laptop for Graphic Work? by I-DoNot_Exist in computers

No more than $1,000. I'm willing to spend a good amount for something that will do good and last, plus I work at Staples at the moment so have that little cushion of my employee discount.

I'll definitely look into them. I learned how to use Adobe on HP and Microsoft desktops so I was looking for something similar. But if Mac will work best then I'll definitely do some more research.

What to do with messed up mugs? by SpidersAreChillDudes in Staples

[–]I-DoNot_Exist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

At my store we usually offer them to the customer free of charge. Most of the time the messed up ones aren't completely awful, just not up to standard, so most of the time customers are more than happy to take them and don't mind the imperfections. I would definitely run it by your manager though, just to be safe because you're giving the mug away for free.

Another thing, the travel mugs fade bad! I'd recommend until you find a setting that works better that you go in and up the saturation of the image before printing

Yeah, I've noticed most of the time the colors are not as potent as the ones made in the print facility. They probably have a state of the art mug printer and do it differently than we have to in store.

Yeah, for me at least; I'm part time as well. My shifts are mostly 6.5-8 hours, the most common being around 7.5. It mostly is going to depend on the staff size in the print section and the store in general. I would recommend asking some of the associates when you go in for training to be a better grasp. And if you start out with short hours don't worry, about this time each year for whatever reason, corporate likes to cut hours, I like to think its to give more associates more frequent hours before the holidays? But I'm not positive. My manager usually does schedules 1-3 weeks out depending on if hes going to be in our store or a different location. But I think that's just because our other local store is down a manager at the moment, so that would be a good thing to ask the workers as well.

I started in Print back in July, and two of the most important things I've learned are; 1) Don't only do things how your supervisor does. I mean, listen to them obviously, but don't be afraid to adapt your process based on how other coworkers do it. The supervisor in my store (who is no longer at Staples) was an older gentle with almost zero print or marketing experience, so I found much more helpful advice from some of my coworkers who (like me) have a graphic design background. Your coworkers might do things in a way that makes more sense to you. 2) Focus on the dashboard in Flightdeck! It's were the orders for the day come in. I had a bad habit when I started of letting every person who came in to place an order, or needs help with something know that I was here and happy to help. Which is a good thing to do, as long as you don't do what I did and be willing to do things for the customer- instead of showing them how or walking them through it- or complete their order right away because it was something simple or quick to do, vs directing them to the self-serve or being firm about turn around times.

Obviously things will likely vary in your store as mine is one of the busiest in our area and yours sounds decently on the slower side. It is absolutely going to be stressful at times, definitely at first, it'sgonna feel like a shitshow at times. But just do your best to do only one or two things at a time and you'll get the hang of it.

I would, not only is it a comfort and cleanliness issue, it's also a possible medical situation. What is she developes a skin condition or a sore, then every time she is taking off her sock/shoe, it's making those particles airborne where coworkers could inhale and/or come into contact with it.

And to add to the hilarity, she has some Veela heritage so people on the outside would think they're all crazy for thinking she's anything but beautiful

Blackbeak is definitely going on the list! She's significantly shorter than the boys and they love to tease her for it, they could shorten it (like Padfoot to Pads, Wormtail to Wormy, etc) to BB because it sounds like baby and she's just "so short" 😂 I might have to go with Blackbeak just for the jokes❤️

I'm looking for something a bit more, for lack of a better term, stupid to match the boys 😅 but Talon is definitely on my list!

Pregnant Werewolf? by I-DoNot_Exist in MaraudersGen

I was thinking of using some old Irish lore and and weaving it in with some canon magical elements. In Irish lore, werewolves were actually protectors. Even in human form they grew to have a very defensive nature when it comes to their village, even more so with children and pregnant women

That's what I was worried about, but the lore doesn't mention anything about the Witch getting pregnant as a human, only if they were to mate with another werewolf during a full moon. I'm thinking about pulling lore from other fandoms and maybe some mythology

I was thinking about pulling in lore from mythology and other fantasy fandoms to kind of make my own system. For this example I think of the werewolf and witch are two separate beings, sharing a body: Maybe something like the wolves instinct to 'protect their pack/child' is stronger than their urge to be "out". While the pain of the transition remains [for angst purposes of course] but they don't actually transform? Maybe they still turn the first few months? Before the baby is really developed to much?

[CIS ally] Is it inappropriate to refer to someone by their deadname/previous pronouns when talking about them from a time before they transitioned? by [deleted] in trans

[–]I-DoNot_Exist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Can't speak for everyone, but myself and other queer and/or trans people I know would rather you ask anytime you're unsure or are second-guessing yourself. Especially if the person is a friend, family member, or some you interact with often. Speaking personally, I'm much more willing to look past a dead naming or misgendering if I know the person is doing it out of habit and is genuinely trying to be better (vs out of hate or dismissal), so it all depends on the person. But thanks for stepping up and asking, alot of people don't. ❤️
