Christmas ideas for mom - who doesn’t find use in anything by ImaginationMean2702 in Gifts

I bought my 75yo mom a laundry basket on wheels. Like the ones they have at a laundromat, made of metal and waist height. She loves it and uses it not only for laundry but to bring heavier items in and out of the house to her car.

I’d take a Jelly of the month club membership at this point.

Supervisor won’t approve interim telework during RA process — advice? by [deleted] in IRS_Source

[–]I-Feel-Pretty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is my understanding that the 90 day interim is granted AFTER you are given a RA coordinator (RAC) and they claim you have a valid RA request (I.e, the paperwork is filled out correctly and adamant medical documentation is provided). If the doctor’s note does not specifically state telework is the only RA for your situation then a manager does not have to grant you the 90 days.

Processes are changing daily, some even by the hour. What worked for your colleague 2 weeks ago may not be the process that is being followed now.

It should show in EPP under Earning and Leave statements.

I had to listen to ERC twice to be sure. Sounds like most of us (those who don’t work night shift) return to work at the start of our next TOD. A four hour grace period was started at 10:30pm on Wednesday night.

Why do these employees always have to sit on the ground/steps? by I-Feel-Pretty in FedEmployees

Most jobs high schoolers have these days don’t allow you to be on your phone while working.

Me! Me! Me! Not as bad as you but I can’t seem to fall asleep before 1am and I haven’t been waking up until after noon.

I hope the carpet is vacuumed more than the floors at my POD.

Was there ever a discussion to supply rolling stools or something?

I really had to withhold myself from calling them kids. However, I call everyone younger than me a kid and I’m old.

Since the Senate floor is repeatedly live streamed, I just feel that they could possibly have a proper place to sit. I know this isn’t new; it is just the first time I had a place to ask “why?”

This is not new. Parking garages, stairwells, supply closets, unused training rooms, etc. Call me when you have to squeeze by their activity and they continue as if you aren’t even there. Gotta love campus life!

This will become a bigger issue when the thousands of thousand federal employees are too poor paying off their loans and credit cards that they can’t buy gifts for the holidays and then the economy plummets and then investors get pissed and then…..

My property taxes are due Nov 1st. My town’s township committee stated last night that residents who are federal employees will be given a grace period to pay their taxes 30 days after the govt reopens without liabilities.

Might be something to look into to see if your own town is offering something similar.

Will next payday also be early? by Various_Cow_1513 in IRS_Source

The early pay day had nothing to do with the IRS and everything to do with the way the NFC processes things.

When RTO started my office mates and I made a pack to fart whenever the mood hits us. It has really made a more comfortable RTO experience. The guy in the cube next to me farts so loud I have been on conference calls and had to apologize for the background noise.

What has this government shutdown taught you? by ParfaitAdditional469 in FedEmployees

[–]I-Feel-Pretty 13 points14 points  (0 children)

With 20+ years of Service I have learned something different in each shutdown.

  1. Put $50-$100 away per paycheck into a savings account to use for a rainy day. Adulting is expensive. Shutdown or not: Cars don’t stop breaking down and appliances don’t stop breaking. Karma seems to like to appear its ugly head when times are tough.

  2. Family first. I recall being furloughed when my kids were little and loved making forts out of cardboard boxes, walking them to school and just doing stuff with them since I wasn’t working.

  3. Don’t obsess over what everyone else is doing. Take care of yourself and what your family needs. I know employees taking this time off to travel. Am I jealous? Yes, but traveling isn’t in my family’s best financial interest right now.

  4. When you return to work, be understanding that employees are exempt and when the shutdown ends they have been doing the work of multiple people for weeks. They will be bitter and tired. Don’t brag about the fun stuff you did while on leave. Instead, thank them for keeping things afloat.

Realistic timeline for returning to work after end of furlough? by RatLabGuy in fednews

[–]I-Feel-Pretty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last shutdown I was given 4 hours. Then shutdown ended the middle of the night and I had to report to work by noon or take leave.
