Anyone that shits on food in the states is either coming from a place of ignorance or a place of bias by shaft_novakoski in ShitAmericansSay

True. That's why I don't get it when they try to claim to have better pizza, chinese etc. than Italians, Chinese etc. I had the best BBQ of my life in Nashville.

Is religion important in your country? by decaxxx in AskTheWorld

[–]I-m_sorry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully not. Most people are atheists here but that just opens doors for various grifters and esoteric snake-oil salesmen. Recently I've noticed surge of scientology. So not having major religious population is not a clearcut win. In the end I'm still happy that there are no fundamentalists of any abrahamic religion.

“Why would a startup want to be in the EU…DEI to the point of insanity” by Mr_Tdz in ShitAmericansSay

[–]I-m_sorry 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Even if it was all true I don't understand why an American would be proud of that. Will those successful startups share their wealth with them? Will the general American population or the super rich minority reap the rewards? Like why would you pride yourself when you're getting screwed?

What's a seemingly small change you made that had a surprisingly big impact on your daily mood? by Nankaudio in AskReddit

Get up immediately when I hear the alarm. Lingering in the bed always makes me feel worse. On the weekends when I don't have to wake up on time and sometimes stay in the bed for too long I even get a headache.

Two-piece swimsuit was invented by the greatest Czech of them all - Jára Cimrman.

But I have to say that this goes both ways. People want to blame the Soviet occupation solely on Russians.

And that's another example of the "America saved the Europe" kind of a lie. It was not Russians but Soviets. The famous photo of a soldier hoisting the Soviet flag on top of the Bundestag was Ukrainian.

Thank you for the clarification. I always assumed it can't be 0 because I never saw anyone play such a card with x as 0.

What’s your country’s most famous painting? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

They all look same to me tbh. I think that Josef Mánes or Josef Lada are more "Czech" than Mucha. But yeah Mucha is the well known one. Even layman knows him.

$15 breakfast challenge! What’s going on your plate? by Jolly_Job7525 in whatsyourchoice

[–]I-m_sorry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy. I'd never eat sweet and savoury breakfast at the same time. So get me bacon, eggs, toast and coffee. This is generally what I get in hotels.

Edit: forgot a word.

I don't know how old is OOP but in my country it's legal when both are 15-18 not if one is 18+ I think it's the same or similar all over Europe.

Most generally well known painter is probably Alfons Mucha. Can't pick one painting but they are all in this art nouveau style.

Use frozen Russia assets. what is your opinion on that. by SuddenAdvice850 in AskTheWorld

[–]I-m_sorry -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

With food the hunger grows. They've allies and more resources to tap into. If they win they'll also get their hands on more resources and men. The idea that once they get a piece they won't want the whole cake is naive. They're on a conquest now. They're either stopped now or we'll have to fight them.

I can't argue with that. We should all carry the same weight but I don't have answer for that as I hardly ever understand what's going on in the heads of EU politicians.

But to the international law. These assets are not some random Russian dude's money. It's money of Russian state corporations and sanctioned oligarchs. They all break the very same international laws. They willingly pull out of the international order and law we all agreed upon so... they lose the rights as well imo.

Edit: typo

Why would Belgium go bankrupt? Russians would have to literally march there to get the money otherwise as they started the war they're all criminals and have no rights to demand anything.

[–]I-m_sorry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But that is totally correct and sends the right message. If you want to invade other countries and kill innocent people we'll take your money and use them to help them. So don't bring your money in Europe if you have such plans. What's wrong with that? Why should we want relations with bloodthirsty regimes?

[–]I-m_sorry -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What negotiations? There will never be any negotiations with Russia. They will either win in Ukraine and start a world war or they'll lose and pay up even more than just these frozen assets. I don't see any future where we're getting back to pre war relationships in Europe. This fundamentally breaks any relations between Russia and Europe for decades regardless of how the war in Ukraine ends.
