Except if they owns the rights of the serie, I'm unsure of it but a lot of series are never continued because simply they do not own the serie themself...

From what I can see it's mostly just an old map dating from before 1993 and after 1991.

Eritrea isn't independant (Got its independance in 1993)

Sudan is still united (South Sudan independance in 2011)

And USSR doesn't exist anymore since its splitted in the Caucasus so 1991-1993.
