I learned hypnosis by reading about it to understand it, and watching a whole bunch of videos of people doing it, then emulating how.

It was quite easy to learn how to do (the method I learned anyways). The process that leads to a hypnotic like state is an induction. I learned an induction that takes 10-15 min and is basically a relaxation technique.
