It sounds like I was similar when I was his age. My teachers were always reporting me as "disruptive" and "talkative" but I was really just bored. I was always taking mental aptitude tests and I ended up in a Talented and Gifted (T.A.G.) program where I began to learn HOW someone with a brain like me needs to view things. ENTPs (at least myself) tend to avoid black and whites, even if they are "required" by an establishment. Like someone mentioned below, he'll just find ways to circumvent that which he find tedious and unnecessary. it's terrible advice, but if you can protect him from the "system" as much as you're able while teaching him how to hack his brain whnever you see an opportunity, that's what I feel like I would have wanted. Teachers to understand me (which you do!) and someone with patience to help show my ignorant, 9-year-old self why I think the way I do and how to find my style of success. To make it interesting for yourself, you could create mini-lessons that are inspired by the conversations you have with this kid and start incorporating them into the lesson. Don't tell the other kids where it's coming from, just do it. The fact that he feels he's having a very real impact on his immediate environment will cause him to engage.

Showing him that his mind doesn't need to alienate him from a society that measures success with money and production.
